Seaside cottage by the penguin-beach

Bedrooms 3
Property type house

About the property

This fairly new cottage is pleasantly situated between Penguin ( 2min) and Ulversone (5 min). The house excist of dining lounge and kitchen in one open area with electric cooking and fridge .There are 2 bedrooms downstairs ,both with queen size beds. The bathroom has a shower ,basin and toilet. Upstairs has a double bed.

The sheep make sure that the 7 acre property is always groomed. The local penguins can be vieuwed from the beach at the front of the house. There are appr.150 of them in the colony. The beach is a great spot to fossic for some rare gemstones. The seaside has a sand and a couple of gravel beaches.Fishing here is at its best with all the local species available, even abalone for the ones with a permit. Shopping can be done in Penguin or in Ulverstone (coles, woolworth, harris scarfe ).

Both Devonport and Bernie are only 10 minutes away.Restaurants are plentyfull within a 10 min drive.

Cradle Mountain is only a bit over an hour drive through some of tasmanias most spectacular landscapes .This would be a great place to start each day with a new adventure if it would be launceston, Tablecape, cradlemountain or even Straughn within reach for the day

For the kids we have plenty of space to kick a ball, swim or fish.

Kind regards Leo

Great little spot

  • 4 of 5

Loved staying at this little cottage, the photos don't do it justice, it is actually a lot nicer/modern looking inside than the photos on the website show. Water views are amazing and my son loved having sheep in the yard. Great spot half way in between Penguin and Ulverstone but unfortunately we didn't see any penguins while we were there.

Beautiful Cottage

We stayed in this gorgeous cottage for 4 nights. Waking up to those magnificent views and the nearby sheep greating us was so special .Fantastic position highly recommend this property.

A washing machine would have made this perfect....

Beautiful home in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Terry and Fran for a wonderful stay. Your holiday house was perfect for our family of 6. The views are spectacular and you have been the most friendly host and generous with your knowledge of local attractions. We had a fun and relaxing stay and will return.

The position of this house is fantastic. Great views and easily accessible.

However, as per the previous reviews, it is cold. There is one heater for the entire cottage and it intermittently turns itself off (it would appear to be a mystery as to when this happens as it is not associated with the heater actually heating the cottage). There is a warning sign not to touch the dials on the heater which silently mocks you.

There is a major leak in the shower and it pools under the carpet the bedroom which only became apparent when we stood in it the first time.

The fridge is a bar fridge - fortunately, inside is cool enough that this was not a problem as the wine would cool when the heater turned off.

There was no obvious external bin to put rubbish in. Our communications with the owners as to where to put rubbish remained unanswered during our stay.

Would definitely recommend for the actual penguins (who weren't there, and aren't for a large portion of the year) as our stay was wet and cold.

Owner's Response: It is always nice when someone lets you know that there is something wrong specially when they do this through the review. I could have explained that there is nothing wrong with the heater but people reset the settings and it all goes wrong if you are not technically minded. The leak was something we have fixed and it was a few drops. The new bigger fridge should have been there on the day but unfortunately it did not arrived until the next guests. We alway say if there is anything wrong please let us know. The rest of the reviews tell the story about our cottage. And yes the penguins are always there. Just google at what time of the night they appear. They are a wild animal which do not show up when you whistle

Lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

Spent 3 nights at this great little cottage. Everything was provided as advertised & it was very comfortable & a great base to relax & also explore the surrounding area.

In the promo photos there appears to be a full size fridge, however there was only a small one in the kitchen. Also, like the previous reviewer, we were cold. We wonder if the heater was big enough to cope with the space it needed to heat up.

Despite that I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Penguin Markets are great also.

Incredible view

We loved this house and location. Stunning. However. They need to do something about the heating. It was very cold.

Owner's Response: It is a shame to hear that. We have set it on 22 degrees . The cleaning lady noticed that someone did change the timer. It is possible that the heater was not on at these times.
