'The town trailed down from the foot of this mountain towards the railway, a huddle of grey and red painted iron roofs, Then over the railway, towards the sea, it began again in a scattered, spasmodic fashion, rather forlorn bungalows and new 'stores' and fields with rail fences and more bungalows above the fields and more still running down to the creek shallows toward the hollow sea................'

The main residence at this property Glen Ayr was one of the original boarding houses of Thirroul and is well over 100 years old. The studio/garden flat was built in 2008 has been designed to compliment the main house.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We relaxed completely on arrival. Well appointed with all that was needed for our getaway. This retreat is located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the Anita theatre and beach so we parked the car on arrival and only got back into it to drive home. It had a nice area to sit and enjoy the garden and read while the birds sang in the background.

Terrific Thirroul Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were well looked after by our host. The retreat is located perfectly for an easy walk to beach, shops, cafès and the local theatre. We didn't need for anything. Glen Ayr is clean, comfortable and spacious, private with lovely garden space and to top it all off the breakfast provided was just right particularly the croissants and hamper of great goodies. Thanks Donna. Hope to see you again.

Quiet and central, lovely hosts

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our 5 nights here. The hosts are easy company, and happy to chat or give you privacy. Everything we needed was included, including a portable little stove. The unit is well appointed and clean, and situated within easy walk to the beach, train station and central shops. We would stay again.
