Big letdown

  • 1 of 5

Outdoor: Furniture rusted and dirty, the grounds were dirty and messy ,cushions dirty and a mountain of leaves everywhere.Fishpond water is green and dirty.Looks nothing like pics on website. The Inside: Tired looking, dusty, no mobile reception, couch not overly comfortable. Some door handles are nearly falling off.Needs a lick of paint and a good spring clean. Very disappointing considering the price.( overpriced in our opinion) We have stayed in much better properties in the area for a similar price..

Owner's Response: Hi Helen, Thank you for taking the time to review The Tor. It is a shame that you have rated the property so poorly, considering its many positive attributes. The garden is maintained throughout the year but unfortunately, the flowers are not always in bloom and don’t always look as pretty & as colourful as they are in the photos. In spring time, the gardens are as beautiful as they appear on the website. The cottage is well-maintained but is country chic in style and is not everyone’s cup of tea. Perhaps you were after a more modern, minimalistic property. The couches are comfy, and we have received multiple positive responses from guests about this being a cosy, comfortable cottage nestled in the beautiful countryside in Wildes Meadow. The Tor is a rural property and won’t always have the best mobile reception, however, that is considered a perk for this quaint retreat – where you can escape the hustle & bustle of the city and work life. With all due respect, we had multiple conversations during the booking process to offer somewhere more cost-effective as you were only booking for 2 adults. Whilst we understand The Tor may seem expensive for these guest numbers, please understand that the property can accommodate up to 6 people. So at $640/weekend, this works out to be only $53.33 pp/pn – an affordable country getaway in anyone’s opinion. We also offered a discounted 3rd night for just $150. This was explained at the time of your booking, and you were offered a 5% discount off the price, which you accepted. We advised that unfortunately, we would not further discount the property on the basis of lower guest numbers, but offered you other smaller properties which may have been better suited to your needs. Despite these conversations, you proceeded to book The Tor for a 3 night weekend at $750. We hope that this unpleasant review does not deter anyone else from coming to the property – which really is a beautiful, country escape.

Blissful break in Wildes Meadow

  • 5 of 5

This charming cottage is set amid lovely gardens and a lawn and we thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and comforts of this property. All the rooms are well kitted out with everything from lovely linen through to snuggly throws on the sofas and very comfy beds. We really enjoyed cosying up in front of the open fire. This was a wonderful place to relax and explore the local area. We will be back!

The Tor - faded beauty

  • 3 of 5

Whilst we enjoyed our stay at The Tor, we were underwhelmed by the condition of the surrounding garden which was a faded beauty. And the shabby chic interior was more than shabby. The bathroom/shower/toilet was a long way from satisfactory at the price charged for the property.

Owner's Response: Thank you Andrew for your review. As you can see in all the reviews below many of our guests enjoyed their time at The Tor. Currently the owner of this property is working quite hard to improve the condition of the surrounding gardens. As you can understand gardens during different seasons can look different and unfortunately the gardens haven't bloomed whilst you were at The Tor. Although you may have thought this property was shabby the interior is decorated with antiques and collectables and professionally cleaned from top to bottom before and after. We hope we can accommodate you next time you visit the Southern Highlands
