Do not even think of staying here. This cabin was uninhabitable: our much anticipated stay was a disaster. Upon arrival, we were greeted by one of the worst maintained driveways I have ever seen. To ask guests to enter along this rocky, washed out, creek gully masquerading as a driveway is an insult. Warning: if you book here, you will not be advised to drive a 4WD vehicle until AFTER you pay your deposit. After scraping the bottom of my car several times along the "driveway", we arrived to find the cabin surrounded by near knee-high grass. The owner's subsequent excuse was "my tractor broke down"... even though the fenced area around the cabin is way too small to get a tractor into. Why was that section of grass not mown? If the owner's mowing equipment breaks down, it is his responsibility to hire someone else to do it for him. In mid summer that grass would have grown by at least another 30cm during our stay, and was rated a severe snake risk with long grass all around the cabin - also leaving grass seeds all over our dogs' coats as they walked around the cabin. The inside of the cabin was hot like an oven, so we opened the windows - BIG MISTAKE: NO INSECT SCREENS. Immediately we were swarmed by dozens of stinging flies and other biting insects. So our options were either stay inside with the windows shut and cook ourselves, or open the windows and be bitten by insects all day and all night long. I can see how no screens would not be an issue in winter, but for a summertime destination you definitely need some insect protection, and you have none here. There was no usable seating or shade areas outside either. The inside of the cabin, although recently cleaned, smelled very bad. The very steep stairway is also a nasty surprise given we had booked it as a pet friendly place. Our small dogs would have not been able to climb or descend the stairs without falling. We left the cabin and were forced to cut our holiday short heading hoe immediately. The owner was abrupt, abrasive and totally unresponsive to complaints when we telephoned him. Even after we placed a complaint and refund request with stayz they were not able to get him to even answer his phone. This property needs major improvements before it should be offered to the public for paid accommodation.

Hugely Disappointed

  • 1 of 5

We were hugely disappointed at the run down conditions we were confronted with. It was not fit for a holiday house. It was dilapidated and dirty. It’s good to see that it has been renovated. Regardless, we will never be going back.

Lovely cabin in the snowfields

  • 4 of 5

Lovely stay at Attungathara Mountain Cabin amongst the beautiful scenery, especially when we arrived and it was snowing. Good location and accessible to snowfields. Very cosy with its fireplace and had some unexpected luxuries such as heated towel rack and dishwasher. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Dog and kids had a great time.

Very relaxing

  • 3 of 5

The coordinates we were given our GPS took us off road we even crossed a river in dark thank god we met few locals who told us to stay on road till we see sign of property on the roadside. We made to the cabin very beautiful self contained, we were there for a week very relaxing is exactly wat we wanted and needed from our busy lifestyle.

NOT HAPPY- one of the bed had a huge wee stain must have gone through the mattress protector into mattress. Its disgusting and unhygenic and expected to sleep there. Its doesnt cost much to replace mattress protector obviously the cleaner just covered it up with bedspread.

Once you get used to the disgusting bedding and very steep stairs and creeky floorboards its its actually a very beautiful place. We enjoyed staying at rhe cabin. Our 9 yr old labrador had the best time running around the guge property chasing kangaroos and magpies.

We loved it.

Owner's Response: Rina I am glad that you enjoyed your holiday and that it very relaxing is exactly what you wanted and needed for our busy lifestyle.I am NOT HAPPY that you splash my cleaners alleged error on the front page.. that could have been done through a phone call or email to me and i would had the problem would have been solved.. its the first i have heard bout this issue. The beds are new and I would not refer it disgusting bedding.. that's a bit harsh. As for the GPS coordinates I say on the instructions.." do not follow any GPS leads off the Alpine Way" and I give the address to plug into the GPS. I can't do more than that.

Fantastic stay,Love the Cabin,Will be back 4sure!

Could not have asked for a better place to stay! Ive been to "rustic" cabins and this was alot nicer than what I expected it to be. The photos don't do this place justice! The cabin was more than sufficient for our needs. The bathroom/laundry is lovely and clean. The kitchen had everything needed, all basics provided (and a dishwasher which I was really happy with). Dining area and lounge was roomier than I expected. That little fireplace can really ramp up the temperature, works really well. The bedrooms upstairs where nice and clean. Didn't expect the stairs to be as steep as they were but the kids got used to it. In the evenings we watched TV or there was a heap of DVD's to choose from. Overall, we had a really awesome stay. I really look forward to spending more time here next winter with my family now that we've had a little taste of Attungathara Mountain Cabin.
