Awesome place...highly recommended ! Four couples, in our 50's and 60's, used the Red Roof to meet for a reunion weekend. The place was PERFECT for us...
The stairs were a bit intimidating, until we discovered a freight lift to haul our bags, beer coolers, and food stuffs to the upper level.
The huge table and the well-equipped kitchen worked perfectly for us. We put the nice gas grill and grill mat to use for our "Grill Night", which is a "tradition" at our reunions.
Even though the weather could've been better, we spent most of our time out on the spacious decks, just chatting and getting caught up with each other's lives...EXACTLY what we wanted to do !!
The property manager/owner was a delight to work with...answered all my stupid questions before we arrived.
Be advised...there are no horses (that we saw !), and there is no beach, but there are a ton of birds and scenery to keep you occupied !
Also, cell phone coverage is spotty to non-existent...didn't bother us ! We just turned our cell phones off, which is why you come to a place like this in the first place ! The owners do furnish a land line, as well as wi-fi internet access, so if you CAN'T relax, and just HAVE to check your email, you can do so...
The MAS wants to make this our "permanent" annual reunion spot
Excellent place to hang out and chill. We had a business meeting and "retreat" for our small engineering and consulting firm. Worked on Friday - meetings with PowerPoint presentations - great open dining area with large table to accommodate that. Played on Saturday - all day fishing on the Gulf with Johnny Squires Fishing Charter (located right in Horseshoe - highly recommended). The house was great. Very spacious and open, well maintained, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, foosball table in loft, gas grill downstairs. Has hot tub and fire pit but didn't get a chance to use those. The Horseshoe Beach Cafe cooked our catch of Red Fish and Trout and did an excellent job with that for our Saturday night dinner. We'll definitely be back!
This was a perfect escape for fishing or just plain relaxing. The house & location are perfect for families or even a group of individuals. Looking forward to booking another stay here.
House was beautiful, clean and very roomy. The house was also well stocked as far as kitchen utensils and extra linens. We are already planning our next. visit. The only down side was that when the low tide was in we couldn't get our boat out.
The place was in a scenic spot and calm town.
Kitchen was fully equipped and was well maintained.
The view from the deck was excellent.
The grilling station/ swing, etc were all better than expected.
Good spot if you like to relax and enjoy the sunset from your home.
I stayed here with a group of friends and my oldest son, the fishing was great and the house even better. On the 1st night my son caught a 25lb black drum in the canal at the house. The next 2 days were just as good, now my son asks monthly when we are going back. I highly recommend this home and we hope to go back soon.
