About Anne & David Hill
David and I have a passion for taking in rescued animals which led us to the original purpose of our lovely farm in 2003. In 2013 we decided to share our slice of heaven with those seeking a farmstay getaway. We currently have 8 rescue horses, 3 rescue dogs and 1 rescue cat. Since we began to take in abused and/or unwanted animals we have had a total of 29 horses, 5 dogs, and 5 cats. All bar a few have passes away here with us having lived the remainder of their lives in a much loved and stress free environment funded entirely by our farmstay accomodation. We hope you love our farm as much as we do.

Why Anne & David Hill chose Lurg
Upper Lurg is a piece of paradise few have experienced. The area is Blessed with an abundance of wildlife, plenty of feed on the ground and gentle rolling hills. As it is not a thoroughfare to anywhere else it is quiet and serene. The nearest neighbours are 1km away. Bliss personified.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The barn has views from 3 sides. The front overlooks a gentle treed valley and grazing horses. Each side overlooks rolling hills and farmland with cows grazing contently. Each of these 3 views brings a sense of peace and calm.

A great rural retreat for big groups
We loved our time at Whispering Hills. We went up as a group of adults with 2 children to use it as a base to visit the King Valley wine Festival.
The views were stunning and my daughter loved Dotty the pony! Once we worked out the heating and lit the fire it was lovely and toasty for some great nights in.
Its great that each room has a queen bed in it as well as extra single beds if needed - I hate staying in family places where a couple ends up on a bunk bed so this was a welcome change!!
My daughter found the surprise stash of toys in the coffee table chest which was a great idea.
Over all a great place to stay
Great quite peaceful location amazing comfortable
Beaut guests. Left the property clean and tidy. Welcome anytime.
Very relaxing and comfortable stay in the peaceful countryside.
thank you for leaving the barn in good shape. You will all be welcome back anytime. One question if I may. Can you let us know what you gave us a 4 out of 5. We aim always for 5 out of 5 so you feedback will assist us to rectify any concerns you had with our property. Many thx anne
Absolutely beautiful scenery and house was very spacious. Beautiful country town. Annie was very helpful. Would definitely recommend
Beautiful view of the outback.
I stayed at The Barn for 3 nights for a end of year getaway with my family. The house is situated in the middle of a farm that is home to a few horses and cattle. The views from the balcony are spectacular. It's truly a great place to relax and chill out.
The bedrooms are spacious and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was large and well equipped with everything we needed.
The free wifi provided is from a satellite dish and it is relatively slow. Phone reception is sparse within the house for Optus and Telstra. I didn't have connectivity most of the time I was there on my mobile. I guess it's what you would expect on a farm stay.
There is one toilet on the second level and two bathrooms on the ground floor. One of the bathrooms is relatively new and clean. The other is old, small, and frequented by bugs.
I had a good experience at The Barn overall.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes there are Christmas and dung beetles this time of the year and yes it’s all part of the rural experience. We love them. It’s a time when nature shows how wonderful it can be. We hope you will return again. You will be most welcome.
Charming and spacious farmhouse with serene view of the rolling hills
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay at The Barn. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and had the whole area to ourselves. The house has all the necessary amenities and more.. The kitchen is fantastic., we spent lots of times cooking, drinking and chatting thr quiet night away. It's summer so expect flies everywhere in Victoria, but that didn't stop us from spending time outdoor. We played frsbee outside the house, had our evening run outside the barn, watch the kangaroos from the backyard, drove to Benalla for grocery, went for wine tasting at King Valley and to the Alpine town Bright for sightseeing. Overall an enjoyable stay and highly recommended stay for those seek quiet time away from cities and crowd.
Benalla is the gateway to the North East and all its attractions. Including Mt Buffalo and Mt Buller, Beechworth Bakery, Winton Speedway, Winton Wetlands, Benalla Street Art Festival, The magnificent Murray river, Milawa Cheese and olives, Brown Brothers wines, Violet town Market, Ned Kelly regions, and the list goes on and on. So much to see, so much to do, you will be spoilt for choice.
