About Steve & Marie Day
We are a Sydney based couple having recently retired from busy corporate life. Looking for a Blue Mountains retreat for a weekend away, we stumbled upon “Harry's Lookout” and liked it so much,... we bought it!!! After sharing this unique property with friends and family, we decided to turn it back into a Holiday-Let property so others could also enjoy the wonderful mountains experience. Harry's Lookout became so popular with visiting guests due to its location, unique features and character, that we could not accommodate the demand for people wanting to stay... and we kept saying to ourselves, “what we need is another Harry's Lookout”. To increase the sleeping capacity of Harry's Lookout, we decided to develop a self-contained studio downstairs and so we tracked down the original builder to see if he had some original plans of the house to help us with the development. During our discussions he asked us if we might be interested in purchasing another property as he was intending to sell one of his houses in Leura. A quick site inspection was all it took, the Leura house was almost identical to Harrys Lookout! The rest is history, we renamed the property “Highlands at Leura” and Harry's and Highlands became “Sisters”! (we even developed a downstairs studio at Highlands to keep the properties the same) We love sharing our properties with folk from all over the world and we get so much joy reading the messages left in the guest books and on-line, knowing that we have been able to bring happiness and relaxation to all who stay at Harry's and Highlands.....

Home away from home
It was great to be so close to both Katoomba and Leura. We walked our dog to the three sisters each morning and found some lovely cafes along the way. The open plan kitchen/living/dining was our favourite part of the house. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed cooking in it. The wood fire was a great touch that kept the house warm on the cool nights. Overall we found our stay to be very relaxing and like a home away from home.
such a confortable stay
We were recuperating form a wedding with guests from overseas...Harry's couldnt have been more perfect. Comforatble inside, large deck, great downstairs annexe-also very comfortable. Quiet, close to some great walks, as we didnt want to drive far it was just great. Cant recommend enough.
Lesley, so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay at Harry’s Lookout. We look forward to having you back again sometime, regards, Steve & Marie
Awesome home away from home
Harry's Lookout is a wonderful place to stay. Our family gathering of 6 adults and 2 kids under 2 years old had everything we needed under one roof - the downstairs studio was especially useful to allow the parents to settle the little ones away from the buzz caused by the rest of the family. We will definitely come back again!
James, so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay at Harry’s Lookout. We look forward to having you back again sometime. Steve & Marie
Now that's a property
Everything was perfect. From the cleanliness - to how well they thought of the little details. Typically when you go to a house there is always something missing. Harry's had every detail perfect. We are thinking of coming back next July!
Barry, so glad you enjoyed your stay at Harry's Lookout and we look forward to having you back in July next year. As July/August are our busiest months, I suggest you pick your dates and secure a booking soon to avoid dissapointing. Regards Steve & Marie
Great for a family getaway
We enjoyed our stay and the house had everything that we needed. It would have been helpful to have a list of exactly what the kitchen was equipped with e.g.: salt, sauce, glad wrap etc to save me from taking things I didn't need. The house had everything we needed, from electric blankets to an umbrella it was well equipped and felt just like home.
The only disappointment was the house needs a good clean, I did notice this on past reviews as well... the blinds and window sills were covered in thick dust as well as skirting boards and behind beds. There were lots of spider webs everywhere. I had to vacuum around beds and windows before going to bed as we are all prone to allergies and hay fever. Overall a great place to stay it's just in need of a massive deep clean throughout.
Michelle, so glad you enjoyed your stay at Harry's and we are so sorry you found the property not as clean as you would have expected. We have the property thoroughly cleaned between each stay and will pass on your comments to our cleaner. I was surprised at your comment that other past reviews commented that Harry's needed a good clean so checked all past reviews going back to 2013 and there was not one comment about the lack of cleanliness, rather, most comments mentioned how clean Harry's Lookout is... So I'm not sure where that information came from. We take the presentation and cleanliness of our property very seriously so we will personally do a thorough spring-cleaning, next time we go up to Harry's. As compensation for your dissapointment, we offer you a 25% discount on your next stay at Harry's Lookout.... Simply mention this review on your next booking enquiry. Kind regards Steve & Marie
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to a return visit. We were made to feel very welcome indeed and nothing was too much trouble. I have recommended this property to several other people
