The Kooser-Ankney Homestead (circa 1832) is a colonial farmhouse listed on the Somerset County (PA) Historic Register that has been lovingly restored. In the past, this property served as a popular stagecoach stop, so we are excited to once again open the home to guests.
Located on 16 acres in Somerset, PA, the property has convenient access to Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, Laurel Hill State Park, Kooser State Park and the Laurel Highlands region. It is the perfect place to have a family gathering, enjoy a long weekend or celebrate a special occasion. Our property is also a quick drive to The Hayloft and Horizon View Farms.
The home has three formal bedrooms, two sleeper sofas in the living room and one sleeper sofa in the library. There are three full bathrooms to include a corner Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom. A front load washer and dryer are available, and towels and linens are included with the rental. The home is equipped with Internet service and satellite TV.
The kitchen includes granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and two large sinks for meal preparation. An outdoor propane grill is located on the front porch with convenient access to the kitchen. The dining room has a table handcrafted from old beams found in the historic barn.
The home features four original wood burning fireplaces. During warmer months, there is an outdoor fire pit for evenings filled with stargazing. Firewood is provided for guests.
There are many special sights within driving distance to include Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, Flight 93 Memorial, and Ohiopyle State Park (with whitewater rafting) as well as Bedford Springs Resort and Spa and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Casino.
