About Sarasota, Arts & Culture....

There's no need to stay on the beach to enjoy all that Sarasota has to offer. After all, no matter where you stay the beaches are only minutes away. The mainland is home to many of the attractions and activities that add depth and character to Sarasota vacations.

Off the islands, Sarasota is defined by a rich and varied arts scene that belies the size of the city. There's the famous John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, featuring an enormous selection of paintings -- including one of the biggest collections of Rubens in the world. There's the vibrant gallery scene showcasing Sarasota's talented local artists, as well as visiting collections from artists around the world. And we haven't even started on live performances.

Opera in the historic Sarasota Opera House. The Sarasota Ballet and Sarasota Orchestra. National touring shows in the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. And three different theater companies all within a mile of each other.

Enjoying the outdoors....

Of course Beaches ! Siesta Key - #1 beach in the US, Lido Key. Longboat Key.

Sarasota's natural beauty has made it an international golf destination, with dozens of courses in the area designed by some of the biggest names in the sport.

Bike along the many trails in the area. Play Tennis. Take in a day, dinner or sunset boat cruise from Sarasota's bay front.

Kayak around the mangroves. Look for Manatees, Dolphins, Pelicans and all of the bird life that call it home here.

Fish.

Turtle watch nesting.

Bird Watching

If you'd rather be a spectator than a participant, head to Ed Smith Stadium, the spring training headquarters of the Baltimore Orioles and home to a minor league franchise.

.

Sarasota has some of the most extensive public park lands in the state, including the incomparable Myakka State.

Festivals and Events....

Sarasota Film Festival in April, Chalk festival in the fall. Thunder on the Bay, Art & Craft shows, Food and Wine events. Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix, Jazz and Blues festivals. Siesta Key Sandcastle Sculpting Competition.

Can't say enough about this beautiful home. Close to all local amenities, beaches etc. The home itself is very clean and very modern. You will have everything you need and more to enjoy your stay here. Maureen and Patrick were wonderful hosts and provided us with a wealth of information on the local area to help us get the most from our vacation. The gardens were stunning and provided a peaceful setting to enjoy a few drinks after the long days. I would thoroughly recommend this home to anyone looking to visit the Sarasota area. We will be recommending this to friends and family and will be sure to return ourselves sometime in the future. 5 star rating from us.

We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

Our two-week stay at Maureen and Patrick's house was just about perfect. It is the most well-stocked house that I have EVER rented. There was an abundance of beach items, books, toiletries, etc. The cottage is decorated with Maureen's beautiful photography. Maureen and I would text, and anything that we needed was promptly provided. I got up one morning to place the trash and recycling at the curb, only to realize that Patrick had already done so for us. It would be hard to find a better host and hostess. The location of the cottage was great for the walks that we took everyday. We could walk to the water and stroll by the boats in just a few minutes. The Publix market was a 5 minute walk away and was fairly priced with very helpful employees. The landscaped back yard of the house is like an additional room! It is quite large with mature plants. We ate lunch out there most days. All in all, it was a wonderful trip, and we look forward to returning to Sarasota!

Cozy sunny increibly well organized bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with Maureen and Patrick over Thanksgiving 2015. The Bungalow was perfect for us with our four-year-old daughter. Maureen has one of the most organized collections of things to do that I have ever seen in our years of extensive travel. Even though we were traveling to Florida visit with relatives in Tampa, will be choosing to stay with Maureen and in Sarasota next year. even though we were traveling to Florida to visit with relatives in Tampa, we will be choosing to stay with Maureen and Patrick in Sarasota next year. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Rental! Amazing Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We were in search of a last minute rental for a family birthday weekend! Maureen is absolutely wonderful! Despite our last minute plans, she made everything very easy and accommodating, and the rental is BEAUTIFUL! It is just as pictured, if not even better in person! Impeccably clean, comfortable, modern, and simply awesome! I personally appreciate the small details like the side room with items you could use for the beach, as well as the toiletries. Maureen and Patrick have thought of every detail to ensure you have a wonderful time here!
