About Victoria and Jonny Speers

Victoria and Jonny have 2 daughters, Lottie and Poppy aged 10 and 9. We live in London but go to Italy as much as work and school will allow us. Victoria studied Italian at University and worked and lived in Italy for a number of years and speaks Italian fluently.

Victoria and Jonny Speers purchased this house in 2004

Why Victoria and Jonny Speers chose Brindisi

We wanted to buy a house in Italy and after much research came across Puglia as a potential region. We came on holiday when Lottie was just 8 weeks old and after viewing 20 properties, we fell in love with Trullo Papavero due to its setting and the potential we saw in it. We spent a year refurbishing it and putting in the pool and then spent each year doing more and more to it and to the land to create our perfect holiday home.

What makes this house unique

The views are spectacular and it is in a very peaceful location. The grounds, the pool are all stunning and the house is spacious and cool even in the hot months. It can fit 2 families very comfortably and we have spent many mild evenings sitting on the terrace drinking wine and eating BBQ food with our friends!

Wonderful Villa for our family

  • 4 of 5

My family and I (6 adults, 3 children - 1.5, 4 and 12 yrs) just came back from spending a wonderful week at Trullo Papavero. We loved the uniqueness of staying in a trulli but with all the modern amenities. The property's location is amazing and you are never more than 20 mins from anything! Definitely recommend this place, and we would definitely return!

Spectacular pool, beautiful views, amazing trulli.

  • 5 of 5

An amazing Trulli with beautiful views, glorious garden and patio and spectacular swimming pool. It was like living in paradise. There were so many places to sit and relax, most popular being the hammocks and the loungers in the dappled shade of the olive trees. The bedrooms were wonderful, the kitchen well equipped, very homely and charming. We had a meal cooked for us by Antonella and Maria which was quite simply one of the best meals we have had, with fresh local produce beautifully cooked and served. The holiday was a delight!

Wonderful characterful and well appointed

  • 5 of 5

Although I little hard to find it was worth the effort. This home has bags of character, charm and is tastefully appointed. The location is wonderfully peaceful with beautiful views over the surrounding hills and olive groves and there are a huge variety of different terraces and seating, some sunny, some shady to admire it all. The infinity pool is has amazing views and is just the right size and depth for swimming diving or just cooling off. The kitchen is well equipped the weber BBQ great and everyone enjoyed the table football and badminton set. A great location to see the best of what the region has to offer and for our two families a home none of us wanted to leave. Would not hesitate to recommend and hope to return to someday.

Ideal for family holiday in unspoilt area of Italy

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this unique but extremely comfortable trullo with our children and grandchildren. The Trullo is in a delightfully rural area without being isolated. It has two lovely pools and is surrounded by lawns and olive trees. There are a number of fascinating towns all within easy reach and no shortage of good eating houses. A number of good beaches are also within easy reach. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay which we recommend as an ideal holiday location - a bit different and a bit special.

Although the house is attached to another house, it is attached at the back of the house and therefore cannot be seen from the house or grounds. The owners of the attached house only use it for a few weeks of the year. We have young children and so have ensured that the house and land is safe for young children although we would recommend that you are vigilant as there are large drops around the swimming pool. We can also provide 2 cots, 2 high chairs, changing mat, potty, bottle warmer, sterilizer, stair gates and there are toys and books suitable for young children. There is also a swing and slide for young children in the garden. The infinity swimming pool is 10 metres long and 5 metres wide at its widest. It starts at 1 metre deep and goes to 2 metres deep. The water flows over a wall into a waterfall and falls into a crescent shaped 'baby' pool 2 metres below which is just 0.5 metres deep. There are plenty of sun terraces with parasols and seating. There is free WiFi in the house
