About Owner

As California natives and long-time SF residents, we love all that the city and region has to offer. As our two daughters have gotten older, they've been bitten by the travel bug so we try to see as much as the world as possible, often using Home Away as well. While in SF, we explore alot and can offer lots of ideas for excursions in and around the area...please don't hesitate to ask.

Why Owner chose San Francisco

The Marina district has it all; close to major tourist sites, recreational activities, restaurants, and services. We had long coveted Avila street as it's one of the only blocks in the Marina that's exclusively single-family homes. Great neighbors, close to the action but quiet and peaceful. The house is taller and wider than most, creating functionality that other homes don't have.

Beautiful Home & Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home in an ideal location. The Marina has tons of restaurants, shopping, and nightlife nearby. The proximity to the water allows for plenty of outdoor activities, as well. Kipp was super helpful and responsive throughout the process. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property to others!

Beautiful Home, Great Location, Safe Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Kipp was very easy to communicate with leading up to our stay, so thank you again Kipp! There was a binder with clear instructions on house rules, how tos, and restaurant recommendations (which we tested a couple and they were fantastic!) The home is absolutely beautiful and had everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed the area - walking distance to great restaurants and close to a running trail that will take you to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a fantastic stay and we would definitely stay again if the situation presented itself. I would highly recommend this home.

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and three daughters stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the house. It was perfect for our needs. It is located in the Marina District very close to Chestnut Street where there are many restaurants, shops, movie theaters and bars. Transportation was convenient as the bus system stops on Chestnut St. a couple blocks from the house. I would recommend this property.

Beautiful home in fabulous location!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home! We spent four nights in this beautiful home and it very comfortably fit two families with tweens--plenty of room to spread out, all the amenities, very comfortable couches and beds, our own little fenced yard, and a lot of privacy for being right in the city. It was centrally-located, and we were able to walk to many shops and restaurants, the marina, fisherman's wharf, etc. We also caught uber quickly and easily. Kipp was very responsive to all our questions. We could not have had a better experience!

Beautiful home, great location, and excellent host

  • 5 of 5

It felt like we were at our own home. We spend the week between Christmas and New Years in this lovely home. I have to say that it's more lovely and charming than the pictures imply. Everything was ready and welcoming. We stayed with my parents and our four children, teens to mid-twenties. All were comfortable, plenty of beds, space, and hot showers.

The weather was fairly chilly and this 1925 house can only get so warm, so we found it a bit chilly in some places of the house at times, even with the heat on, but the beds have great comforters; and we actually kind of liked it.

The host's preparation was very thorough and organized, making it easy for what we needed in the house and the neighborhood for our stay. He was available by phone or email, and very responsive, though we didn't really need anything. We loved the great restaurants he recommended in the neighborhood, and he was very easy to work with leaving us with plenty of privacy.

The location couldn't be better, a few blocks to walk to Chestnut full of shops, restaurants and grocer and a few blocks from the waterfront. The neighborhood is quiet and charming. We took several walks in the evenings and started our days with a short run to the Golden Gate Bridge.

We didn't really watch TV, but the kids really enjoyed the Wii, and spent half our evenings out and half cooking at home and hanging out by the fire. It was the perfect place for a family get together. We would love to stay again! -- thanks Kipp and family!!

Owner's Response: Thank you Terri. We appreciate the remarks and couldn't have asked for better guests! You're welcome back anytime. Regarding the heating, while the house has a modern furnace, there were record lows during your stay and the downstairs can get chilly in those rare situations. The property has a large rotating space heater for those extra cold nights, which I wish I would have remembered to tell you about but glad you found all the extra, cozy Potterny Barn blankets.
