Perfect Family Time Away

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to the Boone area for over 25+ years and hands down this was our best trip yet. The cabin is in our favorite part of Leatherwood (we have been to LW 4x) and has outstanding views. While the driveway can be tricky, we absolutely loved the privacy of being off the beaten path and being able to bring our small dog. The cabin was the perfect size and accommodated our family of 5 perfectly. We took advantage of horseback riding, hiking, fishing and tubing in Elk Creek on the property. I would recommend stocking up on groceries before you come...even using a cooler to transport your cold items because there is no store anywhere nearby...which to us is all part of the charm. The accessibility to the Blue Ridge Parkway including Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain is excellent. We loved the balance between being isolated (we needed this) and close to all the adventures the mountains have to offer. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four, two adults & kids 8 and 3, stayed for a week in July. This cabin and the views are more amazing than the pictures show. We wanted a good family vacation and this was perfect. Some of our highlights were hiking around the cabin (leatherwood trail map in welcome book in kitchen), community pool/play ground then playing in creek beside the pool, enjoying the hot tub at the cabin, eating out on the deck with the million dollar mountain views, taking the kids to tweetsy railroad amusement park in blowing rock which was outstanding, and we drove into west Jefferson to an antique mall and cheese factory.

Prior to renting I read a lot of reviews for this cabin. Here are my additions/responses to some tips others mentioned. The road to the cabin does go up the mountain and the driveway is steep however we had no issues in a Honda Pilot and never used 4wheel drive. Plus going up this mtn is what makes your views incredible. We waited to grocery shop until after we got to the cabin and then went to Walmart in Wilksboro which only took us about 30-40 minutes. There were condiments and some spices at the cabin and someone left charcoal/lighter fluid in the grill so we didn't need to purchase some things. I read the negative review about bugs. There were some normal ants and bugs around the cabin because you are in a cabin at the very top of a mountain. There was nothing crazy and we only used "off" bug spray during one wooded hike after a rain. One day I emailed Alyson with a question and within an hour their maintenance man "Eric" was at the door. He took care of our question gave us his phone number and told us to call him for anything. He went onto check the hot tub and a few other things which were all fine before he stopped by just to make sure everything looked good.

This cabin is super clean and very beautifully decorated. I really feel like we received an amazing deal for all we got from this cabin and our vacation!!! The bonus like everyone else mentions is the bottle of wine waiting on you.

Thanks for a wonderful stay!!! We will be back. This place is a treasure.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

This was a very pleasant surprise nestled in the mountains. We needed a place to relax and recharge and this was a beautiful place to spend our time.

The views were to die for and the hot tub was secluded. This interior of the cabin was tastefully decorated and made you feel welcome and comfortable.

The roads leading up to the cabin were a challenge, but that added to the overall seclusion of the area.

Alyson was a joy to deal with and very accommodating.

Would highly recommend this property if you need to get away from the hype and commercialism that often comes with popular destinations.

Absolutely perfect cabin in the woods. We were up for Merlefest in Wilkesboro and it was the perfect oasis. Incredible views and well appointed in all areas. I highly recommend this place!
