About Michele Palatas
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I moved to Alaska in 1998 to work in Deadhorse-Prudhoe Bay, in the Arctic on the Beaufort Sea. I quickly became enchanted with this beautiful place we call Alaska! If you love the outdoors, this is the place!
Michele Palatas purchased this House in 2002
Why Michele Palatas chose Fairview
I purchased this duplex in 2002 along with two more, and made four of the units, fully furnished guesthouses. You may rent both the Cottage and the Cabin (3584196) if you require more room. Since then I have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world to our city nestled between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains.
What makes this House unique
The convenience of being near to downtown and midtown, the Seward Highway heading south and the Glenn Highway heading north, make this a perfect location to get out and experience Anchorage and nearby attractions.

Our experience staying at the cottage couldn't have been better. Michele was very accommodating with our last minute booking and made the whole process so easy. It was great to have a cozy place with a fenced in yard for our dog - a million times better than a hotel. The location was quiet and felt safe. We were only in town a few days so we didn't get much use out of the kitchen, but it was stocked full of spices, coffee, tea and so much more. The one thing we forgot to pack was a deck of cards but of course, there was one at the cottage! :) Can't wait to come back for a stay during the summer!
Thank you for your lovely and gracious review! It is my pleasure having you at the Cottage!
I look forward to your return at one of my Anchorage Guesthouses.
Warm regards, Michele.
We had the best vacation! Comfortable, GREAT location!
Clean like a brand new house, everything worked, yard fenced for Bilbo, my dog- and #1-location!
The home is in the perfect spot for seeing Anchorage. Everything is a 10-15 minute drive, or 20-25 minute walk (except when it rained which it did continuously the first 3.5 days-very rare for the time of year). Plus my dog, Bilbo Baggins, loved the treats Michele left for him. My mom was able to visit the middle three days and loved it- she thought it so much better than a hotel. My first visit to Alaska, state #50 for me to visit as an adult or teen, was awesome, and would not have been so much fun if not for The Cottage. I took many pictures inside The Cottage so it will not be forgotten by us. Plus I should have been on the plane that left Anchorage around 12:55 am, Tuesday. I was at the airport and correct terminal by 11 pm, Monday. RAM turned back in and everything checked in. I fell asleep and woke 5 minuets before the plane should have left, but it was gone and airport almost empty. I called Delta and had to get a new ticket for 3:30 pm Tuesday. I did not get back to Lexington till around noon on Wednesday. I did get a taxi back to The Cottage and met the cleaning lady, who was super nice. She said she could clean the next house and return to The Cottage after the already scheduled Taxi at 2 pm.
I appreciate your wonderful review!!!!! So sorry that I did not get to meet Bilbo!
Thank you for your patronage and your generous compliments!
Best regards, Michele.
We always love staying at this property! Michele is so inviting and her attention to detail is much appreciated! We will never stay anywhere else when we visit Anchorage!
And thank you for your patronage, and this lovely review!
A Delightful Stay
I spent October of 2016 in the Cottage and had a delightful stay. The Cottage was clean and pleasant, well thought-out and well-equipped. Michele is a very nice lady: professional and responsive and concerned about the welfare of her guests. The Cottage is also very centrally located, a short, short drive to both the Seward and Glenn Highways and downtown Anchorage. I especially enjoyed visiting Hatcher Pass, which is about an hour away. I would happily stay in the Cottage again.
Thank you for your lovely review and compliments! It has been my pleasure having you stay at the Cottage. I do look forward to having you back in one of my Anchorage Guest Houses!
Thank you again!
Cute, cozy, comfortable cottage!
Michele was a great host! The cottage was very comfortable. It was located in a safe neighborhood. Very quiet and inviting. The fences in yard was great for my dog and Michele even left dog bowls for her food and water. I would recommend this place to anyone. Parking spot in back was nice to have, to keep from parking on the street. The recommendations from Michele for restaurants and places to visit were spot on! Thanks for being a great host!!
And you were the perfect guest! Thank you also for leaving the house so clean!
The Cottage GuestHouse is conveniently located in the Fairview District, just between downtown and midtown. The view to the east is the vast Chugach Mountain Range, and to the west, one mile to downtown Anchorage and Cook Inlet. Nearby is New Sagaya City Market, Europa Bakery and Kaladi Brothers Cafe.
Close to shopping, bus lines, restaurants, cultural attractions. Anchorage boasts the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, great restaurants, namely Glacier Brewhouse, Orso, Sacks, Simon and Seafort's, Crush, offering fresh fish caught in Alaska waters and vegetables grown in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. And my favorite breakfast at Snow City Cafe!
Ski: A drive thirty minutes south on one of the most beautiful drives in the world, will take you to Alyeska Resort and the best skiing in and around southcentral Alaska!
