Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I moved to Alaska in 1998 to work in Deadhorse-Prudhoe Bay, in the Arctic on the Beaufort Sea. I quickly became enchanted with this beautiful place we call Alaska! If you love the outdoors, this is the place!
Michele Palatas purchased this house in 2002
I purchased this duplex in 2002 along with two more, and made four of the units, fully furnished guesthouses. You may rent both the Cottage and the Cabin (3584196) if you require more room. Since then I have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world to our city nestled between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains.
The convenience of being near to downtown and midtown, the Seward Highway heading south and the Glenn Highway heading north, make this a perfect location to get out and experience Anchorage and nearby attractions.
Thank you so much for renting us this little cottage! Jeff and I had a wonderful time here and will be back and staying here if possible.
The extra homey touches were the icing on the cake.
We always love staying at this property! Michele is so inviting and her attention to detail is much appreciated! We will never stay anywhere else when we visit Anchorage!
I spent October of 2016 in the Cottage and had a delightful stay. The Cottage was clean and pleasant, well thought-out and well-equipped. Michele is a very nice lady: professional and responsive and concerned about the welfare of her guests. The Cottage is also very centrally located, a short, short drive to both the Seward and Glenn Highways and downtown Anchorage. I especially enjoyed visiting Hatcher Pass, which is about an hour away. I would happily stay in the Cottage again.
Michele was a great host! The cottage was very comfortable. It was located in a safe neighborhood. Very quiet and inviting. The fences in yard was great for my dog and Michele even left dog bowls for her food and water. I would recommend this place to anyone. Parking spot in back was nice to have, to keep from parking on the street. The recommendations from Michele for restaurants and places to visit were spot on! Thanks for being a great host!!
This is the most charming cottage ever! My wife and I stayed for two weeks and couldn't have asked for more. Michele is such a sweet lady and will help you out with any questions or suggestions you might ask for. Extremely clean and well stocked. After being out all day it was a pleasure coming home to the cottage. Thank you so much Michele for everything including the muffins and milk that were waiting for us when we arrived! I wouldn't hesitate a second staying again! The pictures are accurate as to what to expect. Perfect stay!!
I think that this is a great place to stay. We usually stay here when our boys are doing football or wrestling. The owner is very accommodating to our dog and we are able to make healthy meals and do our laundry while we are there. I like that the location is centralized and accessible to many places in Anchorage. We love it so much that we left our Moose's Tooth Rootbeer Jug there for whoever wants to order great rootbeer at Moose's Tooth. Michele is warm, welcoming, and is available for any questions. We will definitely return to this facility in the future. Enjoy the guestbook and the yummy chocolates she leaves every stay.
I stayed there for about 30 days back in April 2015. I was in Anchorage for a month working at the Alaska Native Medical Center. The accommodations were excellent and I was very comfortable there for my stay. It was especially nice having access to laundry facilities in the unit, and I used the suggested attractions list on the weekends.
The Cottage GuestHouse is conveniently located in the Fairview District, just between downtown and midtown. The view to the east is the vast Chugach Mountain Range, and to the west, one mile to downtown Anchorage and Cook Inlet. Nearby is New Sagaya City Market, Europa Bakery and Kaladi Brothers Cafe.
Close to shopping, bus lines, restaurants, cultural attractions. Anchorage boasts the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, great restaurants, namely Glacier Brewhouse, Orso, Sacks, Simon and Seafort's, Crush, offering fresh fish caught in Alaska waters and vegetables grown in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.
