A unique, privileged and secluded experience awaits!
This 3 bedroom architecturally designed home is set on 5 acres of gentle sloping pasture surrounded by paper bark trees and red and blue gums. With views over the valley to the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National park, across 'the' Margaret River, down the river to the famous River Mouth and out to the Indian Ocean, this location is unrivalled. Sunsets, tracking Moon journeys and watching the weather pass your window are among the favourite pastimes of those fortunate enough to stay at this exclusive property.
Only 2 minutes drive from Surfers's Point in Prevelly and an 8 minute drive to Margaret River town, staying at this property will give you that elusive, 'well kept secret' feeling and you will be one of the few who get to experience this side of Margaret River.
This impressive house, the first home to be built in the prestigious Wallcliffe Farms area, is light and airy and is the former residence of a well-known local artist.
For your comfort year round the house has a reverse cycle air-conditioner. There are extra fans and column heaters as well. The house is set up with all of your home comforts including a spacious chef's kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, wireless internet and local phone, LCD television and DVD player.
Pearl River House is comprised of 2 storeys. Enter from the top lawn limestone entrance and walk over the tropical bridge that spans the 'secret garden' of the property with its stream full of fish, lush exotic plants and countless frogs.
The top level is an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with vaulted ceilings that opens onto a huge deck with a balinese-style daybed and hero views of the river, valley, forest and ocean. There is an entertaining sized dining suite inside and a BBQ down below on ground level.
The master bedroom has a king size bed with a huge window that frames a painting-like view. The ensuite bathroom has a wood surround bath tub, toilet and separate shower.
Down the stairs is a landing with floor to ceiling glass doors that open onto the walled garden. The lower storey has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a queen bed and the cot and a beautiful aspect with french doors opening onto the back garden. The other bedroom is perfect for kids with a double bed and 2 single beds, also with french doors opening onto the garden. There is a bathroom downstairs with separate toilet, and the laundry with a washing machine and ironing facilities.
An outside shower is situated in the secret garden which is perfect for after the beach. Around the outside of the house are numerous picturesque sitting spots so in all conditions there will be a ideal place to sit and enjoy the scenery.
The house is located next to the entirely separate former artist's studio, the River Valley Villa, but maintains it's privacy as both houses are oriented in different directions.
Please note, guests (of either house) do not have access to the courtyard to preserve privacy and space between the two houses.
The surrounds and things to do
For your leisure we have kayaks available for use (for the able-bodied only please!). Wander down the paddock and take out one of our boats down through the Paper Barks to our private river access. launch the boats here and a leisurely 15 minute paddle will take you to the River Mouth past the Wallcliffe caves, where you can swim at the popular beach or watch some world-class surfing. You can also walk the "Cape to Cape 'track and around to Cape Mentelle, or south towards Redgate Beach.
Check the swell from your deck and in minutes be out surfing any of Margaret River's legendary breaks.
Perfect safe family swimming is minutes away at Gnarabup Beach. This protected beach has a boat ramp, lovely snorkelling and the well-known "White Elephant Cafe" for great coffee!
The property is home to many native animals, enjoy your evening watching the kangaroos or even an emu dine in the valley and be serenaded by birds of all descriptions as their song fills the air at twilight. The gentle breeze and sound of the ocean will soothe you into a restful slumber.
**FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN PLEASE NOTE
The house's inner garden has a water feature (stream) and there are flowing 'moats' around the property in winter. There is a large unfenced dam in the paddock, and of course there is the river. The paddock itself is fenced and gated but determined children could climb in. Children need to be closely supervised when outside and the owners accept no responsibility when this fails to happen.
A pathway adjacent to the next door River Valley Villa has a three metre drop to the ground as the gardens are terraced. While there are border gardens, there is no fence or handrail. Again, children need close supervision.
DOG OWNERS PLEASE NOTE
As this property is surrounded by National park we have many visiting animals including kangaroos. Your dog is welcome if he/she is social, well behaved with an even temperament as it is our duty to cause no harm to the existing flora and fauna. Please watch dogs around the stream to avoid them falling in.
Please book your dog in with our property manager before your stay!
Weddings considered. Please apply to owners, thank you.

Our entire group had a beautiful stay at Pearl River House. Apart from some minor inconveniences, we would highly recommend this property.
Communication with the owners/managers were 10/10. Very helpful and fast at replying to our questions and requests.
The house itself is beautiful with breathtaking views over the river. Modern and clean, with comfortable and warm bedding and large entertainment/dining area that was still cosy.
The large bathtub was lovely and relaxing.
Only problem was the bedrooms on the lower floor were subject to loud noise from above when people walked across the top floor.
The kayaks supplied enhanced the experience and we had such a fun time in the river with them. The outdoor shower came in handy to rinse off all the mud from running back up the river bank and paddock to the house afterwards.
Our dog was welcomed and had a great time roaming the paddock and relaxing on the secluded balcony.
Location was great, only 10 minutes into town yet still very secluded and peaceful.
Will definitely stay again/ highly recommend for a peaceful getaway.
Thank you Stephanie for your review. I am very glad you had such a great time at the property and you are welcome back any time.
Excellent place to stay!!!
Picture perfect! Went in April and the scenery is exactly what you see in the photos! Clean, well equipped and certainly a very quiet escape with beautiful views. Saw kangaroos in the morning too. Will definitely be returning again!
Excellent Family Holiday
Had a great stay at Pearl River. Loved the view, the feel of open space, wildlife (kangaroos and birds), fabulous time kayaking on the lovely river - so serene - the kids loved it and we did this every day. Prevelly Beach a very short drive away as was Margaret River. Loved our complimentary wine on arrival (nice touch) and late checkout. The manager, Natasha, was easy to deal with and contact for anything that we needed. Loved the views in the morning (as the moon went down) and the evening (as the sun went down). We will definitely be back and I can recommend this place to anyone.
Beautiful view of ocean and river. Property was just stunning. Clean. Great communication from the property manager. Looking forward to staying again.
A magnificent villa on a magnificent site. The property is spacious and well-appointed. The views over the Margaret River, with the sea beyond, were particularly impressive in the early morning, when bird-life of every kind appeared, and kangaroos grazed in the meadows below the house (fascinating for a pom), and in the evening, when there were some striking sunsets. The property is well-sited for exploring south to Cape Leeuwen and north to the Naturaliste Peninsula. The house is surrounded by attractive gardens with facilities for children.
Great Margaret River Destination
The owner was helpful and accommodating from the start, and once we arrived at the property we were all very pleased with the house and grounds. There were 'roos hopping around between the house and the river, amazing lilies in the garden, and a lot of friendly bird life to keep us company. The house itself is roomy and the kitchen is a great size for cooking while entertaining. All round, a comfortable house for three couples in an excellent location.
