Tired of staying in the same old stuffy boring hotel room? So were we, so we decided to own our own Houseboat on the Tennessee River, where we could walk to just about everything. The “Moonlight Madness” is docked in the peaceful Volunteer Landing Marina in Knoxville. The marina is steps away from award winning “Ruth’s Chris” steakhouse and Calhoun’s On the River. You can walk to both as well as the Neyland Greenway, James White Greenway, Neyland Stadium, Thompson-Boling arena, University of Tennessee and the vibrant Market Street in Downtown Knoxville. We can accommodate 6 people in beds and many more if you want to get creative. We have 2 bedrooms, one king size bed in the master and a Full bed in the crew quarters and a queen size pull out couch, along with 2 bathrooms. We feature 3 decks, one off the bow, one off the stern (great for morning coffee) and a 70' PARTY DECK on the roof. The party deck has abundant seating along with 2 flatscreen HD television and a gas grill and gas fire pit. The master also has a 40' Vizio UHD flatscreen with Smartcast. The salon also has a 50' UHD flatscreen. Our boat comes fully stocked with clean linens and towels. The galley also comes fully stocked with dishes, utensils and small appliances along with Hi-Speed internet. You will meet a lot of very nice people that reside at the marina full time. Also, we have a EZGO golf cart and 2 Kayaks and 2 beach cruiser bikes that are available for you to use while at our boat. Sorry but the Houseboat doesn't leave the marina because of the river current. We also have a full-time Marina Manager on site should you need anything or have any questions with our boats. We want your stay with us to be a memorable one, and will make every attempt to make you want to come back.

About Alfons Reinig
Our daughter plays soccer for the University of Tennessee. We make several trips out to cheer on the Volunteers. We love the Knoxville area and the Volunteer Landing Marina. This location is absolutely perfect. We can walk to everything from Downtown to Neyland stadium. Not to mention Ruths Crists Steakhouse, which is steps from our boat.
Alfons Reinig purchased this Boat in 2016
Why Alfons Reinig chose Knoxville
We wanted something other than a boring hotel room or a small stuffy condo. The boat is awesome with the newly renovated interior and huge party decks. We can kayak off the back of the boat and paddle to Calhoun's on the river. Houseboat living is unique and charming. This boat has never been smoked on or in.
What makes this Boat unique
Water access, great location and very safe and secured marina with onsite staff. Full time on-site Marina Manager to assist you with anything you need. Secured and gated docks.

Amazing stay for a long weekend
First, alfons is an amazing host. He was very communicative and willing to answer all of our questions before we arrived, and during our stay. Second, the boat is awesome. There was plenty of space for 7 people, we had a blast using the kayaks and golf cart to get around, and the top deck was the perfect spot for grilling and watching a game. Location is great: short walk downtown, right next to Ruth’s chris and Calhoun’s, so we had plenty of food options and places to go nearby. I don’t think our stay could have been any better, and would recommend renting this boat for a long weekend on the water.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay it sounded like you had a great time and was able to take in all of Knoxville hopefully will see you next summer.
Awesome place for an awesome weekend!
Such a great place to stay! Very clean! Great location. Owners have thought of everything to make the stay most enjoyable! Best top party deck I have ever seen! Great place to watch games on two TV’s up on top deck. Highly recommend this!! Your family will love it!
We’re so happy you enjoyed your stay with us I wish the volunteers could a gave you a closer game and made it more exciting though maybe next year
Relaxing and unique experience
We loved staying on the Moonlight Madness houseboat. Alfons, our host, and Joe at the marina were very welcoming and available during our stay. Sitting out side on the upper patio, enjoying the breeze and river views was so relaxing. Easy access to downtown Knoxville and several restaurants gave us lots of options for dining and to explore. This was our first time renting a boat on a vacation and it provided a unique experience for our entire family. Thank you, Cheers!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you would keep us in mind next time you’re coming through Knoxville .
Immaculate is the right word!!
We had a great experience using Al's boat. We went down for our yearly college football trip and this year we picked Tennessee. This place could not have been in a better location for the game. Walking distance away and right next to the Vol Navy. The boat had everything you would need for a trip to Knoxville. Thanks again Al and we appreciate the hospitality.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with your crew. Thanks for the sweatshirt I’ll wear it with pride! See ya next year, maybe it will be a better game.
Looking for something different...this is it!!
Great location, easy access to downtown, serene views, comfortable accommodations!
So glad you and your family enjoyed your stay and hope you would consider staying with us again that next time your in KN.
Great place to stay for the family
My wife and I spent a week on the Moonlight Madness with our two boys, 9 & 11 years old. We had never been to Knoxville prior and never stayed on a house boat but decided to go out on a limb and try both out. We were very glad we did! The boat itself is a very clean, well kept place to stay with a great upper deck. Plenty of room for the four of us. The owners of the boat were very helpful and accommodating, answering any questions we had all week long within minutes. They seemed to have thought of just about anything that could be forgotten and had it on the boat for us if needed, even providing the correct toilet paper for the boat. We were very impressed by the hospitality shown and appreciated being welcomed with a nice card and a nip of Tennessee's finest whiskey (much needed after a long day in the car with kids). The staff at the marina was friendly and helpful but the friendliness of the residents was what really left an impression with us. TN has great people! The bike path right there at the marina was great for running, roller blading, biking and for an evening stroll. Our boys made good use of the splash pad, a few minutes walk down the path. The short walk to downtown was great, lots to do within walking distance. Lots of restaurants to choose from within walking distance. The boat/marina were surprisingly quite and peaceful for being so close to downtown. Our only let down was not enough fish caught but that's fishing for you.
Outside the marina we found lots to keep the kids busy: A 45 minute ride to Pigeon Forge/Dollywood, Two par 3 golf courses (free for kids!), jump jam was great for a rainy day, mini golf (and more) at Sir Gooneys, and more all about 20 min by car or less.
With 3 days of rain on our trip we managed to have fun every day. I would recommend the Moonlight Madness to most anyone but too many young ones on the boat may get uncomfortable. It was perfect for two kids at their age. Can't wait to do it again someday.
Wow thanks for such a great review sounds like you guys had a blast and I hope you come back again next summer.
