This is one of those apartments within a resort where the reality is actually even better than what is promised. The unit is beautifully appointed with lots of attention to detail and full of little extras such as Dvd's (for adults and kids), loads of games, tennis rackets (and balls!), even a cooler to take to the beach. The layout - with the reception rooms in the centre - means the bedrooms (plus separate bathroom for each, both well sized) feel like they are in separate wings, so there is lots of privacy, even though you are close. We have two children and it was perfect for them, although we would have enjoyed it just as much as a couple. The resort is fabulous, two lovely pools plus Sassafras restaurant which serves great food. Coral Sands is the perfect base to explore Barbados, especially the west coast. Our entire experience from start to finish was a real pleasure and I really cannot recommend this place enough. The owner is a delight and really helpful.
Barbados is a wonderful island with so much to offer compared to it's smaller neighbours. The sea is truly turquoise and the sand white. Try the local rum punch, coconut water fresh from the coconut (sold alongside the road), flying fish and any locally caught fresh fish, its delicious.
There are boat trips to snorkle and swim with turtles or dive on wrecks; surfing on the east coast or calm caribbean waters on the south/west coasts.
Travel to the south coast and lunch or dine at Champers or travel north to the Fishpot and host Manny will take great care of you.
All in all, the best place ever for a holiday!
Felt like a very relaxing home from home with a lovely outdoor terrace we used much of the time. It's a stone's throw from a decent sized and pool with plenty of sun loungers all set in attractive gardens. Less than 5 minutes away is the main reception with stunning view and infinity pool, Carisma restaurant and bar, gym and tennis courts. As we were attending a family wedding with mixed age group all theses facilities were well used by us. It's 5 minutes drive to the Fairmont Pavilion (with guaranteed sun beds on the beach) water sports and the bars and restaurants of the Coral Reef, Fairmont and Lone Star. Holetown is nearby with the upmarket Limegrove shopping centre, eateries and bar and good supermarket.
Overall, a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Staff at Sugar Hill were helpful and friendly and cleaning/ fresh linen regularly supplied.
We enjoyed a magnificent holiday - our first visit to Barbados. We were delighted to stay at Sugar Hill and in Elaine's lovely apartment. We could not recommend it highly enough. The apartment was perfect for our family - very comfortable and close to the pool. Elaine was helpful beyond words, both before we went and in all the guidance she provided - thank you! Sugar Hill is a wonderfully quiet and immaculately kept estate - we would definitely return! A fantastic family holiday.
Coral Sands was a lovely apartment, the master bedroom and bath was beautiful and it would be great if the second bed and bath matched in terms of quality. The apartment as a whole though was really lovely and spacious with everything we could need and more and I would both recommend and return.
My only criticism was that we were not advised that Spago's was closed for our entire stay and the Fairmont Beach Club as well. In resort that meant we could not have food and drinks and have a more relaxing day / night in that didn't require a run to the super market. The dates of closure ran from three weeks before our arrival therefore we could of had this mentioned to us. At the Fairmont they did give us 20% off in the main restaurant to compensate for the beach club being closed during our stay which made up for the inconvenience.
We stayed for 1 week in April with our daughters 4 and 6. We loved the convenience of the pool steps away from the back patio and having a 2nd pool option with more amenities. The 2nd pool had a section that was just the right depth for the girls and kept them contained. That was great when we wanted to be out of the pool reading a book and they still wanted to be in. We appreciated having a restaurant onsite and the girls loved the food. We also figured out that you can pick up the pizza and take it back to the apartment. And as wonderful as all that was, it was the access to the Beach Club which really made it complete. In my opinion, that is the best beach, and again can't beat the convenience of having food right there. We did go to a local supermarket - great variety but very expensive compared to US. We picked up some snack essentials, but didn't cook. The apartment was wonderfully outfitted and very comfortable. I would happily stay there again and again!
Sugar Hill lies just north of Holetown on the West coast of Barbados approximately 1 km inland, in an elevated position overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Facilities include : 2 pools : Poolside Bar and Restaurant : Gym : 4 Championship Tennis courts: Just minutes away are the glittering white sand beaches and calm waters of the West Coast ideal for swimming, snorkelling and water sports. Enjoy fine dining at The Cliff, The Lone Star, Tides or Daphne's - all overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Nearby Holetown offers shopping and nightlife in its bars and restaurants.
