About Gavin Tullos

Our family of 6 including our German Wire Haired Pointer - love being active; working out, hiking, camping, mountain biking, fishing, 4 wd trips, skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing, if its active and we probably like to do it.

Gavin Tullos purchased this lodge in 2010

Why Gavin Tullos chose Front Range Colorado

We spent several years vacationing in the Colorado Mountains. Then a few years saying how cool would it be to have our own place, Then a couple of more finding 'It'. We wanted to be secluded not remote, have running water, be with in a hour and half of a major airport, not too far from city conveniences but not to close either. We wanted to have hiking, fishing, and relaxation all in the same spot. We wanted our place to be 'rustic luxury'. We love our home and we love the great reviews and e-mails we get from others who have shared our place.

What makes this lodge unique

On the water, not close, not near, it is ON the South Boulder Creek. There is a 'Trout Ranch' about a mile up stream that stocks - all those beautiful trout come down to our place. 'Cabin' that is secluded with all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel. Direct TV, Blue Ray DVD, Surround Sound, Hot Tub, Sauna, Full gym on 2.5 acres of Blue Spruce and Aspen.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Many thanks to you all for opening your beautiful home to us for our vacation. We had a wonderful time with all of the fall colors and even had a dusting of snow one morning. Everything was cozy and welcoming...the wine was the perfect compliment to our dinners. Thank you again. Due to icing on the roads late Friday, we had to leave early but we plan to return in the future for another memorable time.

Had a great time catching fish in the creek, hiking in the mountains and relaxing in the evenings on the deck. Thanks for a great time!

Convenient Tranquility with Excellent Trout Fishing

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has it all, peaceful solitude, yet convenient to Nederland, and Boulder. This is our second visit to the Diamond T, and it was fantastic. Many trout were caught, with 3 of them being in the 5-7 lb range. There were 6 of us this time, and the accommodations did not disappoint. We hardly new the care takers were there, and they were wonderful, and helpful to talk with. This is an awesome place if you want to "disappear" for a while, or, if you want a peaceful place to come home to from easy day trips (which is what we tend to do). The Diamond T has become one of our favorite places to stay. It truly feels like coming to a home.

Thank you Gavin!!!!

Wonderful experience in quiet remote location

  • 5 of 5

This was an excellent stay. The location is remote although very accessible to Nederland , within 25 minutes to Boulder, and 45 minutes to Denver. The decoration is rustic but very nicely done up. The hot tub and deck facing river were perfect for relaxing. It was clean and very comfortable. I would surely recommend it.

Not what claimed to be

  • 1 of 5

We arrived and loved the house, besides having to unload the dishwasher and shovel the snow off the decks ourselves, the house was clean. We also had to search the house to even set up the advertised 3rd bedroom with sheets and a blanket. After notifying him we would need all 3 bedrooms for the weekend I expected that to be done. We had our wedding weekend dinner party at the house, and ended up having 3 people more than expected. Due to the fact there was no cell service there, we didn't get the email from the owner until the next morning at our wedding. After reading his insane emails with completely exaggerated accusations, we called him. He told us we broke his trust, we had bad morals, and deceived him, and trashed his house. He said his caretaker which lives right next to the house above the garage, and can easily peer into the windows, video taped even ..... which I found to be extremely disturbing that this person was watching and video taping without our permission and was a COMPLETE invasion of privacy. We were told to get our things and to leave immediately or the sheriff would he called. Yes, we should have told him when we found out we were going to have 3 extra people, as he has reasons for the limit, but the way this was handled was off the wall. I assured him nothing was damaged and that we were sorry for not letting him know of the extra people, so we left the house in perfect condition and drove to a hotel on our wedding night, though a blizzard. Our deposit was refunded because "as I stated, nothing was damaged". But, we were treated like we were punk kids out to throw a kegger and destroy his home. Which is furthest from the truth. Before booking, I urge you to request to look at the rental agreement he sends you AFTER YOU PAY. As I didn't see it (and was not even told it existed) at all until we were being yelled at and accused of having bad morals. I think this was his intention. Also, the advertised gym and sauna are in a garage that smells of gasoline and is trashed with oil and tools and misc junk. So not exactly what he makes it sound to be. We would also have liked to previously(it is not stated in the write up of the place) know about the caretaker on site that will watch you throughout your stay, which is disclosed in the rental agreement you get again, AFTER you pay. Overall, a terrible experience for us, as he is not upfront about the true details of the property, did not make any attempt to call me or verify I had seen the r

Owner's Response: The Diamond T, our home, has over 30 5 star ratings and multiple comments about the owner being easy to work with, which stands on its own. Unfortunately there are those who attempt to take advantage of a good situation and then lash out when they're held accountable for their actions. I agree with one comment -- it was a terrible experience, for the owners as well. To reassure our future guests, you can't book and pay without receiving a copy of the lease; the lease clearly states the policies and procedures, to include the fact that the house is not designed for large parties, the number of vehicles permitted, etc. This party originally booked for a party of four -- turned out to be 6 vehicles and 10+ people, who of course had a party which drew unwanted and unneeded attention. No one video tapes or watches the guests. We asked our caretaker and cleaning crew to videotape the interior of the home after the guests left to record the mess and assess any damage. The guest comments conveniently leave out multiple rounds of communication, to include their request for early check in (granted), and their request for hot tub maintenance to be accomplished before 6:30pm so they could have "dinner and privacy" which in reality was so they could host a large party. Again, there are those who will try and take advantage of others and than act outraged when action is taken to hold them accountable.

Perfect cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this cabin 3 times and will many more. It is very well equipped. We never have not had something that we needed. The kitchen is very well stocked. The cabin sits right next to the South Boulder Creek. It is tucked away and is very quiet. It is very comfortable with lots of nice upgrades. Gavin is so easy to work with. We love this cabin!

Review for Diamond T Lodge

  • 4 of 5

The house is comfortable, and decor creative. Very well cleaned surroundings and lovely place to relax. Master bedroom was spacious and bed comfortable. Sofa bed and twin beds were not adequate for adult company, but would be good for younger ones. The river is beautiful, but difficult to hike from cabin or on narrow, curving roads. Caretakers were friendly and helpful. Nederland was a fun, quirky place and we enjoyed good food and service there. We highly recommend First Street Pub and Grill, Kathmandu, Thai place, barbeque restaurant, Sundance, as well as, shops where we bought alpaca shawls, handmade native American pots, etc. The Merry-Go-Round is just an unexpected beautiful treasure! We enjoyed meeting the locals and receiving extra information about the town. Helpful that it's close to Boulder as we had to purchase an ATT cell there because our Verizon (worked in town) didn't receive signals at the house.

Thanks for all the conveniences. We enjoyed our stay.

Respectfully,

Carol Childs
