Get ready to relax--this beloved home is fresh, light-filled and welcoming. Deceivingly large for a traditional Cape, it has plenty of room for a family or two.
Visitors comment on the size of the house: a generous living room for gathering, a dining room seating 10 with access to front and backyard decks, a separate wing of the house holding the large open kitchen with island, a separate dining area, and a family room with a TV and a small loft. Kids love climbing the ladder to this little fun spot in the eaves. The general living spaces are well separated from the sleeping quarters, which allows for quiet and privacy. A 1/2 bath off the family room area also helps keep activity away from the bedrooms.
This 6-bedroom sleeps ten, with flexible bed arrangements. All the bedrooms have air conditioners for the summer season, although the breezes off the marsh and ocean are perfect for sleeping and relaxing. Each bedroom is simply decorated, with shades and/or curtains and extra bedding for comfortable sleeping. Bed linens and towels are provided. Pack-n-play and wooden crib available. Renters provide baby linens. For toddlers, we have bed rails for three beds and three waterproof bed pads, upon request.
We don't claim to be fancy, but we do try to make families feel welcome. The house has Wifi and cable, a Wii console, and DVDs and a DVD player. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor games and books for kids and grownups. Every year we make improvements to the property; our returning renters enjoy and compliment our annual updates.
The backyard is very private, surrounded by trees and brush. Birdwatchers, sunbathers and grillers enjoy the space. A large deck overlooks a tree-filled, sun-dappled space. The outdoor shower is a pleasure. Front and side decks also provide outdoor space to enjoy the sun and breezes. Front and back driveways easily provide parking for 4-6 cars, or a boat. (Town boat access is next to Keyes Beach, 4/10 mile from the house).
***Barnstable Beach Pass included covers parking fees at the 17 local beaches*** Walking to the beach is easy with our beach wagon, which can help carry the beach umbrellas, coolers, beach chairs & toys, and beach towels we provide.

About Dan & Lu
We are teachers, and spend many off-season weekends and a week each summer in the house ourselves. It is our family home, not just a rental property. Our five children spent summer time here, walking back and forth to the beach daily. They enjoyed the snack bar and shallow waters of the family-friendly Keyes Beach. Now that all the 'kids' are grown, we enjoy the house with them, their friends and our granddaughter. We eat out in Hyannis, and head out to many of the 17 beaches in Barnstable. Our favorites include Keyes, Covell, and Dowse's. Whether the house is full of family or we are just the two of us, it suits our needs.
Dan & Lu purchased this House in 1992
Why Dan & Lu chose Hyannis
Dan visited the Cape as a boy, and wanted to provide that experience for his five children. After months of searching, this property proved ideal with its location and space. The house has become a home over years of work and improvements, and we enjoy looking for ways to update the property every year.
What makes this House unique
This house so well-located, between town and beach. There is always something to do nearby, or if we wish to travel up the Cape, a day trip is an easy adventure. When we spend time in the house, we enjoy the backyard view of tall oaks and listening to the birds. From the backyard and the second floor, the view of sunrise over the marsh is quite calming. When the house is full of our large family, there's space for all, and as our granddaughter comes to enjoy the house and beach, we are delighted to share it with her. In particular, we look forward to when she is old enough to climb into the loft in the family room and enjoy it as her mom, aunt and uncles did in their youth. Hanging out in the kitchen and family room together and then sharing a meal at the big round dining table is one of our family joys. Playing charades in the living room has been family tradition, as is house-wide hide-and-seek. We've mentioned the nearby beach, and the stroll to it is wonderful any time of year.

Wonderful house and perfect for a crowd!
Our group of 8 women spent a beautiful late-fall weekend at this amazing home. If anything, it was even better than it appeared in the photos and description. The house is huge, yet cozy. From our first contact inquiring about its availability to having our deposit returned, the owners were responsive and easy to work with. When we arrived, all the beds were made with nice sheets, there are plenty of towels and the whole house was very clean. All the furniture in every room is comfortable and in great condition. The yard is beautifully landscaped and patio and decks with comfortable furniture allow you to follow the sun or shade around the house all day. The kitchen is large, well-stocked and easy to work in; we opted to stay in for dinners and enjoyed hours around the wonderful round table in the dining room, eating, chatting and playing games. The bedrooms in a separate wing allowed people to get up early and not disturb those wanting to sleep a bit later. The neighborhood around the house is peaceful and quiet, yet easily accessible to downtown Hyannis. Our book group takes a weekend away each fall and one of our members declared this our "forever" house. Like the family who owns the house, we have begun making memories at this perfect getaway home and look forward to returning again next year. Thank you, Dan and Lu!
This home is fantastic! Clean, beautiful and had everything we needed! It really was perfect !
The owner was super easy to work with and very helpful ! We will be back again !
We're glad you were satisfied with your stay, and we appreciate your response. We'll look forward to hearing from you in the future. Thanks!
Perfect housing for us
This property was exactly what we needed. The house is spread out enough that some of us could be up late talking without disturbing anyone that was sleeping in the bedrooms. The peaceful backyard was fantastic for outdoor dining at anytime of day. The location is also wonderful, close enough to all the action Main street in Hyannis offers, yet far enough away from it you forget it is even there.
Dan & Lu were a pleasure to work with from start to finish and we look forward to staying there again in the future.
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay at our home. We love it for many of the reasons you mention. We were so impressed with your thoughtful care of our property and would love to have you return.

Dan and Lu,
I spent last weekend at your beautiful home. It was rented for a multi-generational mom get away. There were seven of us and there was plenty of space for us all to spread out. It was particularly helpful to have bedrooms and a full bath on the first floor as my mother is 88 years young. We all enjoyed your large kitchen with the cozy family room attached. It was great to wakeup and start the day without disturbing those that were still sleeping on the other side of the house. It was very close to the beach and to downtown Hyannis with lots of good restaurant choices. Everyone agreed it was the perfect spot to relax and spend some quality time. The home is stocked as discribed with sheets, towels, books, games & paper products making the experience even easier. I can't think of anything that was missing. I would definitely recommend your home to anyone and I hope to rent your home again in the future. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us. Sharon from CT

If and when we go back for a family vacation, this is the only place I would want to stay. The home felt like our home when we walked in Owner was a delight to work with and would recommend to everyone. Close to docks, etc. Food was great on the main street. Best vaca ever!!
Perfect home for a family gathering
My extended family and I (parents, siblings and their spouses) rented this home for a wedding we had over Labor Day weekend. My initial attraction to the listing was the number of bedrooms that the house had for each of the couples we had staying there, and that turned out to be one of the best features of the home. We all comfortably fit and had a place to sleep without the need of a futon or pullout couch. The dining room table sat us all (in a circle), which was nice to have everyone at the table at the same time for the dinner we decided to stay in and cook on the grill. The bedrooms are on the other side of the house as the living room and kitchen, which was nice because the adults who were up playing card and board games didn't wake up the sleeping children with any noise. Having two small children in our party, it was a relief to have a pack n play, high chair, and toys waiting for us upon arrival and saving us the pain of having to bring them along or make do without them. The house is in a beautiful part of Hyannis Port and walking distance to a lovely little town beach where we sat and got sun, watched the ferry pass back and forth in the distance, and brought our children fishing for the first time. We thoroughly enjoyed taking turns napping on the hammock, sitting outside on the many decks the home has, and walking down to the beach with our kids. We had a great family vacation here and talk of making it an annual trip! The only feedback I have (that really wasn't a big deal) was that the downstairs could get a little stuffy without air conditioning (there is AC in the bedrooms though), but it was September and the breezes were fine. The cleaning checklist upon checkout was a little lengthy and I thought would be covered by the rental fee, but we made it out that day with plenty of time to spare.
We're happy that you enjoyed your stay. We love our home and agree that it offers a great family experience on the Cape!
Thanks so much for your feedback...we appreciate the support and always try to keep improving guests' experience.
We're considering adding air conditioning to the kitchen wing. Other guests have remarked on those breezes, too, and the dining room area really allows for them to blow through.
We have already modified the checkout checklist to make it even easier for guests. The list is meant to support our policy that guests leave the house the way they found it, and as you indicated, it does not take long.
Hope to welcome you again if you decide to return.

Great location with easy access to town and beach. Hyannis, the main town on Cape Cod, has an airport, bus & train service, ferries to the islands, restaurants, cinema, mall and shops. Main Street is a mile from our house, yet the house feels private and close to the shore. Two beaches are walking distance, and three others are short car rides away. We easily travel up and down the Cape from our house.
