About Roy Clapinson
We're a retired couple living in Bobcaygeon, just outside of Toronto, Canada. We're both originally from England and settled in Canada 40+ years ago. Villa Nasalasa (named after our 4 grandchildren) was designed and built in 2015/16.
Roy Clapinson purchased this Villa in 2016
Why Roy Clapinson chose Playa Santa Teresa
We discovered Costa Rica 3 years ago, fell in love with the lifestyle and natural wonders of Santa Teresa and the Nicoya Peninsula.
What makes this Villa unique
Nasalasa offers one of the most spectacular views over playa Santa Teresa out to the pacific ocean. The property faces west, so the sunsets are breathtaking; especially while you're relaxing in or around your private pool ; ) The house is located high on a hilltop just behind the center of Santa Teresa (15 minute walk going, 30 coming back). You'll enjoy gentle mountain breezes and be away from the noise, dust and bustle of the main road.

Such a comforting home to return to after a day of surfing!!! Minutes from amazing restaurants and shopping. The home is exactly as pictured and is equipped with everything you need. Perfect vacation home!
An Oasis in Playa Santa Teresa
We loved Casa Nasalasa and thoroughly recommend it for families like ours (two children aged 7 and 9). The house was truly one of my favorite parts of a fantastic trip.
The reviews are absolutely right: the views and sounds of waves are breathtaking, howler monkeys abound, and the driveway is from hell. However, if you can manage the roads to access Playa Santa Teresa, you can manage the driveway. The driveway itself isn't nearly as scary as all of the people walking up and down the hill risking their lives. I wouldn't dare attempt that hill on foot and especially not in flip flops as the locals all do. I appreciated the pool so much for being shaded in the hottest parts of the day! Such a fabulous retreat from the sun in late afternoon. The house also has comfortable beds, nice showers and effective air conditioners. The giant dining room table open to the living room was ideal for our traditional 1,000 piece vacation jigsaw puzzle (we left it there for future guests). We had a few plumbing issues, but I expect that's just part of the Costa Rican experience. Jairo handled them quickly and effectively. The housekeepers visited twice in a week and brought fresh supplies of towels. We paid $30 to have about two loads of laundry done on site. They were returned clean the very next day. The nearest beach was not swimmable for our children as we expected, but nearby Playa Hermosa was idyllic for our needs. We set up camp under a palm tree grove and watched the kids take surf lessons (booked through Jackalope Surf Shop) while we drank Imperial Light or pipa frias...heavenly! Don't miss fishing with Jason Tours in Mal Pais...we caught tuna and a 40-lb amberjack! We loved the dining recommendations that came in our welcome packet. You must have sushi at Koji's! We also loved Colour Cafe in Playa Hermosa for lunches. Be sure to pack yoga clothes because Playa Santa Teresa feels like everyone everywhere is doing yoga.
Perfect house and pool. AC was perfect for the hot days.
My girlfriend and I just had the pleasure staying at this beautiful house for a week. Such an awesome place and location. The only downfall was the road getting up to the property but wasn’t bad at all with a 4wd vehicle or ATV. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. House was in spectacular shape, with the cleaning ladies coming often to make sure you had clean towels and linen. The pool was absolutely awesome. Spent everyday of our stay in there. The view out to the ocean was absolutely amazing. Great views of the sunset and the thunderstorms rolling in. I absolutely reccomend this house to anybody that is staying in the area. 10/10
Shane, We are so pleased that you and your girlfriend enjoyed your stay at our villa. The driveway can be a challenge; however, with a 4WD or quad it's quite manageable. In addition we are planning a major upgrade which will make it more user friendly. Please come back and stay with us again. Roy, Ann & Chris.
A perfect retreat
This was the perfect vacation spot for our family of five. The sleeping arrangements were perfect (one room for two and second room with beds for three!), the mattresses were super comfortable, the house is gorgeous with an open floor plan looking out over the pool, beyond which you have a near 180 degree view of the ocean below. The high ceilings made it all the more luxurious. And it's a very short ride up from the main street and the beach, so the location is ideal. Supermarket is close by, and of course, lots of beaches to choose from, all within a reasonable driving distance. The kitchen has everything you need to make a quick dinner at home. Many thanks also to Jairo, who lives in a small house just below the property, and who is available to troubleshoot any issues that may arise (we had some plumbing hiccups), and we loved his friendly and laidback dog, Sigi, who came for intermittent visits. Thanks to Natalia as well, who helped us organize a trip to Tortuga Island and answered all of our questions. Loved the bathroom that's accessible from the outside, so you can use it directly from the pool without leaving a trail of water in the house. Brilliant. Behind the house is the mountains and the jungle -- from the pool you can see lots of varieties of butterflies and insects and an occasional hummingbird. Some beautiful yellow breasted birds visited every morning, and the howler monkeys were nearby. You could hear them in the trees close to the house, and if they were close enough, you could see them, too. The pool is perfect for an afternoon activity, and can be viewed from nearly every spot in the house, so safe for the kids as well. This villa was so comfortable, you might be tempted to stay in the whole time, but be sure to check out the local activities and beaches and restaurants!
Angela, Thank you for your review. We are so glad that you had a good time at our villa and Santa Teresa. Please come back and stay again.

This is truly a special place in Santa Teressa! The pictures on the website were amazing and it was even more beautiful in person. The house is extremely clean and well stocked with water, linens, games, books, and everything you need to cook meals.
The view from this house is spectacular. We spent every morning just looking out over the ocean and one of the best surf spots in town. We also had howler monkeys close by most days and saw an iguana, frogs and butterflies. Even though there are neighbors, the way it is laid out makes you feel totally secluded. My family loved feeling like they were in the jungle while still being close to the beach and town.
Natalia was amazing at recommending activities and restaurants. She organized a zip lining trip for us and and ATV tour. Both are must do’s in my opinion and Natalia arranged to have the ATV tour start at the house with ATV’s delivered that morning. Talk about service!
The only downside to the house is the steep climb on a poor road and steep driveway. While intimidating at first, it became second nature after a few trips. While walking to the beach is certainly possible, the walk back up the hill would be a bit tiresome. All in all, I would say this is a small price to pay for a piece of paradise on top of the hill! I would highly recommend this house to anyone visiting Santa Teressa.
Thank you Leslie, We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Nasalasa and that it met even exceeded your expectations. Yes, the way up to the house is steep....we live in hope that the town road will be improved in time and our driveway will be getting an upgrade later this year with a more user friendly surface around the steep corner and better drainage. Thank you once again choosing to stay at Nasalasa, please comeback sometime.

Amazing property and incredible hosts
Our family of 4 (two boys ages 16/14) spent our Spring Break at the house. Everything exceeded our expectations. The house was more than comfortable for us and was a great place for us to relax in between activities and meals. The home had all the amenities you could ask for. It would have been nice to have access to a grill (for all the fish we caught) but that was the least of our worries. The booking process was extremely fast and easy. We were immediately introduced to the property manager Natallia who booked everything for us. We booked surfing lessons, snorkeling at Isla Tortuga, canopy tour in Montezuma, kayak and deep sea fishing through her. She gave us excellent restaurant recommendations, tended to any need that we had, and helped with logistics planning. Also, the groundskeeper and security person was always present to look after things and we loved his dog. You definitely need a 4x4 to access the property but that wasn't a problem for us. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone looking to have spend time in Santa Teresa.
