Riverview Retreat is a double-story riverfront home with outstanding views, situated in the peace and quiet of the countryside just minutes from all the amenities of Ballina.
You have your own private jetty on the beautiful Richmond River.
Moor your boat or fish off the end while watching a glorious sunset.
If it's the ocean you want there's a thirty-kilometre stretch of unspoiled beach, the second longest in the State, just five minutes away (see map). It's perfect for dog walking and has 4WD access.
The property is set on two and a half acres so the neighbours won't bother you.
Bring a nine iron and practise your pitching on the backyard fairway (or borrow our set).
There's table tennis in the garage and a kayak for the river. Fishing rods and tackle are provided for catching dinner! The Richmond River is a popular fishing spot with loads of good sized bream and flathead.
Or try the south Ballina break wall and the Pacific Ocean for the big stuff.
The new freeway from Byron Bay to Ballina is now open. It means Byron is less than thirty minutes away and the trip from Brisbane to the house is a little over two hours, double-lane all the way.
From the house catch the car ferry to Ballina for all the major supermarkets, clubs, restaurants, cinemas, ten pin bowling and an airport with jet service to Sydney and Melbourne. Byron Bay and Bangalow are only half an hour north up the highway or explore the mountains, orchards and macadamia farms in the hills around Lismore and picturesque Alstonville village.
There are three quality golf courses that you can easily drive to.
The roads and lanes around the property are completely flat and very popular with cyclists. There's a bicycle in the garage suitable for tall guests.

Riverview Retreat is Pet friendly
You can bring your dog to Riverview Retreat but we request that pets stay outside during the day and in the garage or laundry at night.
Patches beach is a lovely dog-friendly beach only a five minute drive away - one of the few off-leash beaches still on the North Coast. Dogs just love it and so will you.
If horses are your thing, Tassiriki horse ranch is a few minutes away and fantastic beach rides are their specialty!
Golf clubs abound in the northern rivers. Our favourite is the Evans Head golf club, a 20 minute drive south via Woodburn. No problems getting on at this well-kept ten-hole course with great greens.
Or you can play for free on our backyard nine iron practice range.
Riverview Retreat offers that rare combination of secluded country estate set amongst beautiful natural features as well as close proximity to desirable urban amenities.

Beautiful property with amazing vibes
Our combined family stay was absolutely beautiful and calming in this gorgeous Riverview retreat!!! Spacious and complemented with beautiful views in and out of the house!
Will definitely be returning.
Thank you for the lovely review Brooke. Your daughter told me she was looking after our home when she was playing out the front with the other kids on their bikes. I thought that was a lovely thing to say and showed that she had been taught respect from her parents. You and your lovely family are welcome to come and stay again any time. Kind Regards, Carolyn.
The stay was relaxing and house is spacious. Although we weren't there to watch TV, it did rain all weekend and the TV not having an arial was a surprise. It was lucky we brought a few kids DVDs along. A spring clean may also have made the stay a little nicer. The offer of helping ourselves to the pantry was kind, however a lot of the items were open and/or out of date. Also some cleaning products, like a spray and wipe, would have been helpful to cleaning up after ourselves.
Pretty location, relaxing home & enjoyed the views!
Hi Jackie, Thanks for your review and I’m glad you found the house spacious and the stay relaxing despite a wet weekend. Thanks also for calling our attention to the TV aerial. The previous guests moved the TV into a second lounge room and didn’t plug the cord in when they put it back. Our apologies. We should have checked it. However, rest assured there is an aerial and pristine TV reception. There are cleaning products under the sink in the kitchen. We tell guests they are welcome to uses spices, etc in the pantry. Some people appreciate this and some prefer not to. We throw out anything out of date but guests leave all sorts of things and sometimes they get shuffled out of sight and we miss them. Re the spring clean. We have very high standards re cleaning as testified by our 4.5 star rating. After reading your review I went on a pantry blitz and decluttered it which was probably overdue. Please let me know if there were other areas you thought needed attention and I will speak to the cleaner. On behalf of Riverview Retreat and future guests, thanks again for taking the time to write a detailed review. Carolyn.
What a lovely find.
This was a last minute booking for a family get- together(6 adults, 6 children - 5 under 5). What a find! A comfortable house, with more than enough room. The two older girls shared a bed and had a great time. Two little ones were in portable cots. And Nana and Pop had the Master Suite!! There are a number of living rooms and three places to sit around a table - 2 outdoors. We were hesitant about the unfenced yard, but the grounds are extensive and with open spaces , so it was not difficult to supervise the children. The two dads tried their hand at fishing from the private jetty, but only caught toddlers. Perhaps we needed to pay extra for the grown fish?? The house is well equipped, with an eclectic collection of crockery, cutlery and cookware. In an older house there are always minor maintainence issues, but none spoiled the weekend, and Caroline (the owner) was very responsive. She was also very obliging about holding onto a bag that had been left behind. All in all. Wonderful. Both the families are planning a return visit.
Thank you so much for your lovely review Jude. We can't do much about the size of fish you caught but there are plenty of sizeable flathead and bream in the Richmond river and out neighbour's son recently caught a large jewfish off their jetty. Kind Regards, Carolyn.
A lovely peaceful setting with tranquil river views. House very comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. Owner very helpful and friendly. Could want for nothing more.
Thank you for your lovely review Francesca. Your family are welcome any time at our house. Kind Regards, Carolyn.
Great location and peaceful
We loved the location and view of the river. However, our stay was spoiled as my elderly father fell down on our first night when he stepped on loose pavers. Many of the pavers around the back patio were loose, especially along the edges. He was unable to walk for the next few days.
We have recently had some repaving done due to heavy rain washing sand out between the pavers.
We had a wonderful stay at Riverview Retreat. It was literally like a home away from home. The house is large and spacious with ample room for everyone. The kitchen is well stocked with any pots or pans or tupperwares you may require. The breeze from the river is great and the view of the river from the top balcony is beautiful. The ferry across to the main centre of Ballina is conveniently minutes away .Patches Dog friendly beach is also within easy driving distance. Only downside is that it is unfenced so we decided to tie our dogs up outside when we were home due to the possibility of them crossing the road. The owner has said that they are looking at fencing an area now so dogs can be left with shade and access to the laundry via the doggie door which will be good. Highly recommend the property for groups or big families!
Thanks for your lovely review Jill. Our new dog enclosure is up and running! Our current guests are using it for their dog. Thanks for the great idea. Warm Regards, Carolyn.
