My friends and I rented this cabin for an overnight in Shenandoah the weekend of March 25th. When we arrived, we discovered that other tenants had mistakenly taken the cabin assigned to us. We contacted the owner of the property, since he was not there upon our arrival and offered for us to stay at his nearby identical cabin instead. After that mishap, we settled into the cabin. When we began to prepare for dinner we greeted by another set of unexpected tenants, MICE. While we were cooking dinner, a mouse run across the counter-top while we were preparing our food. Then, we saw another mouse on the floor behind the refrigerator. When we looked around more carefully, we saw A LOT of mouse droppings in the sink, kitchen counter, table, as well as in the sponge in the kitchen sink. In the morning, we found bags with items such as crackers had new holes in it from mice chewing through to get to the food. This prompted us to discard a fair amount of food we brought which made us very unhappy. It was clear to us that the property owner was aware that the cabin had mice, since there was an ultrasonic rodent repellent plugged into the wall. We contacted the owner shortly after our stay, and we still have not heard back from him. All this said, the place did have some redeeming qualities, including the views from the back porch and the hot tub.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. Sorry for any issue. I'm not sure which friend wrote the review but I did email the gentleman who actually rented the cabin after I got an email from one of his friends 3 days after your stay. The stay was on a Saturday night. I did not hear of an issue on Saturday, Sunday, Monday. It was not til Tuesday that I got an email saying something about a mouse. If there were a problem on Saturday why did you guys not get in touch with me then? I could have corrected any issue or you could have left and I would have given a full refund, but you waited 3 days after your stay to say you had an issue, but you still stayed. You asked for a refund but as I emailed you and stated we could not do a refund after you stayed. You guys stated in your email that if you did not get the refund you were posting a bad review. So I did not refund based on you still staying and not emailing me until 3 days after your stay. There were a few things you guys did not do when you left the cabin also as I stated in the email. The door from the kitchen to the porch was left open, the window to the left of fireplace was open, grease on counter and stove, the strap on hot tub was left off, and the hot tub cover flap was torn about 6 inches. The cover is only 2 weeks old and is already torn a little. So you guys did not leave the cabin in the manner as you found it. We do not want any issues at our cabins and for the most part, we do not. We rent to about 800 groups a year and rarely have issues. I have a full guest book of great reviews at the cabin as you saw when you were there. So don't take my word for it, take all the other guests. We have nothing to hide. All of our cabins are open for any pre inspections. They are modern, clean, with lots of sunshine coming in. They are top of the line cabins. It's just a shame that a review, being true or not could affect us. I touched based with the guests that checked out that same day. They were there the 2 nights prior and they had no issue. So to any future guests, we are open for any pre inspections at any time We want your business. You will be glad you chose us like most of our other guests.

This place was amazing. Even better than the pictures inside and out. Great location and views. Dave was so friendly and helpful. The road getting in was just fine. Very peaceful, relaxing and secluded.

Me and my fiancé stayed in Arrowhead cabin for my birthday/Valentine's Day celebration. I'm a huge reviewer and very picky and this place was so perfect! The pictures are exactly how it looks no different at all , the views were breath taking , the hot tub was relaxing especially with all the pretty colors it gives off at night. I adored the knotty pine look! When we arrived the cabin was warm and ready to wine down in as well as the hot tub, I didn't need to worry about any of that ! Bring your own bathroom supplies but towels are provided with no bad smell, kitchen is well stocked with supplies and being 15 minutes away from everything (Walmart gas fast food) was definitely a plus when we needed food for the weekend .Just brace yourself for the driveway ! A little steep ... I will be coming back as often as I can only an hour away ! And the fact my dog came meant so much to me the overall feel was defiantly Luxury Cabin !

Thanks again David !

Beautiful Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I at the last minute booked this property for a weekend away before he left for a month. It was perfect! David was very prompt with his response, and very nice to us. He was understanding about our late arrival and had everything prepared and ready to go. The hot tub was already heated up and clean! The wide open layout, the screened in porch and the open porch in the front was perfect for our pup to run wild in, which was a huge plus! David had no problem having her there which we very much appreciated! The views were spectacular even though it was foggy we got some great pics! The driveway wasn't a big deal with my SUV but bc its paved I don't see it being a big deal for anyone except maybe in the winter if its icy. The fireplace was also a beautiful touch as well and we LOVED the couch. he beds weren't bad at all either, best we've slept in a long time honestly. We made steaks, corn on the cob and potatos and had enough utensils and dishes with what was in the kitchen. The small things people complained about in other reviews didn't matter to us. I would recommended getting a rug for the floor in the bedroom by the hot tub; Only so the owner can avoid having to replace the floor from dripping water after the hot tub but that's about it. We are already planning to come back in the fall hopefully for a week this time because one weekend was not enough in this amazing cabin!

Epitome of Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Peacefully tucked away up a steep drive just minutes from Lake Arrowhead, this cabin defines R&R. The beautiful views of Skyline Drive and Stonyman Mountain, the refreshing breath of mountain air and the warmth of the hot tub will wash all your cares away.

This cabin is beautifully maintained and well-loved. Communication with David regarding our check-in and check-out was fast and easy and all things were in order and as expected upon arrival. The beds are cozier than a hotel room and all of us remarked on how well we slept. We loved having a fire in the fireplace in the evenings, and the hot tub was perfect for staying warm while watching the sky turn beautiful shades of red and orange during sunset. The house is stocked with towels and basic amenities (toilet paper, soap, cleaning supplies) but I would recommend checking in before heading to the store as past guests often leave behind staples (salt and pepper, butter, some frozen items, etc). I might recommend bringing your own towels as the ones provided have adopted the hot tub smell. The nearest grocery store, Walmart, is about a 15 minute drive away (there are also restaurants, gas stations, fast food, etc). We didn't use the grill, but there is one on the screened in porch, as well as a fire pit in the driveway.

I recommend spending an afternoon exploring Old Town Luray as well (there is a cute river walk that is well worth exploring). The boys played golf at the Caverns Country Club which has gorgeous views, while my friend and I enjoyed a hike. The line for Luray Caverns at noon was out the door and around the corner, so ARRIVE EARLY. We explored Lake Arrowhead after checking out on Sunday, and wished we had explored the area more on Saturday. There are also some great wineries and distilleries on the way to the cabin from D.C,. of note was Bull Run Winery and Desert Rose Winery.

This cabin is the perfect retreat from city life, and I cannot wait to return. Thank you, David, for opening your beautiful log cabin to us.
