This totally remodeled studio condo (Hanalei Bay Resort, Unit 3106) overlooks beautiful Bali Hai, the pearl of Kauai’s North Shore. Watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay as you enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the slate covered lanai, then go visit the island sights, but be sure to get back in time for the sunsets! This studio condo is a one-of-a-kind within the complex! Accessible, and free, parking is just a few feet away from this first floor unit. The unit has been totally refurbished and nicely appointed with a modern Polynesian touch. The unobstructed view of Bali Hai is usually described by the guests as breathtaking. The beauty of the unit itself, the view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai and the accessibility and convenience of this unit make an unparalleled combination. And it’s all within the fabulous Garden of Eden of the north shore, the Hanalei Bay Resort.
And, yes, the condo has various snorkel gear and some beach toys for the little ones, and if you need more beach chairs or gear, just rent them from the pool shop and send me the bill. Oh, and i just added an iHome® Kineta Bluetooth® FM Alarm Clock Radio and Speaker.
Two guests are easily accommodated in the unit. Since you’re sleeping on the king-size custom-made Indonesian “Pineapple” bed, you can actually watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay for awhile before getting up. You might even want to stretch out on the rattan lounge chair in the bedroom while you re-read a little Michener, Theroux—or even Crichton, one of our (now late) “locals” before turning in, or check your email on the free internet. (I was tempted to say the unit sleeps three because a child could sleep on that lounge chair.) Please browse the floor plan layout on one of the photos, and let me know if you have any questions.
After a day of sight-seeing you will enjoy the two-person, six-jet shower with a window facing Bali Hai, which includes a switch that, almost magically, makes the window become opaque for the shy!--oops, it just quit working, lets hope I can get it fixed quickly:)).
Air conditioning is only needed once in a while, but it’s there if you need it.
A beautiful beach shared with the St Regis Hotel for great swimming and snorkeling is just a short 10-minute walk away down the hill past the tennis courts. And it’s all in close walking distance to all the fabulous HBR amenities like restaurant/bar/free parking near the condo/tennis/pool.
NOTE: This is NOT a one-bedroom condo with a separate bedroom. It is one large sleeping room with a lounge chair, a table and two small chairs, two bed stands, an entertainment center and, a mini-kitchen between the bedroom and the bathroom.
Note 2: This bedroom unit includes a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, and a mini-fridge for your convenience. And, of course, there are plates, silver, glasses and cups. Therefore, this is NOT a full-kitchen, please do not rent this condo if you plan on cooking.
Note 3: I have significantly increased your options for storing your clothes and things, BUT, if you are staying more than a few days, and you like to unpack and put your then a few items in a spacious dresser, you will be disappointed.
And finally, I reluctantly need to inform you of two fees: First, the resort charges a $20/daily Resort Fee collected upon checkout, and Secondly, in case you didn’t notice it, VRBO/HomeAway charges a 5-10% Service Fee. Sorry, about these.
We also have another (adjoining) studio condo that sleeps two with a full kitchen and Jacuzzi hot tub. Check it out at VRBO 237539 and contact me for prices and more information on that unit, which might be available when this one is not.
My wife, Audrey, and I are up here in Sacramento, CA --when we're not in Kauai, which is never enough for Audrey, especially during the chilly rains we get here in Northern California. We've owned this property since it was totally refurbished in 2006. Before that we owned a unit in building #2, which was nice but the third floor became too much for Audrey and, more importantly, she couldn't see enough WATER, so we've fixed that problem. And now she's happy, and it doesn't get any better than that!
Dale Carlson purchased this studio in 2005
This is our second stay at Hanalei Bay Resort Room #3106 and enjoyed it again. Clean and great customer service. You can't go wrong for location in Princeville. Room amenities of full size coffee pot, toaster, blender, microwave and small refrigerator allowed us to have breakfast and snacks as wanted. Cooler & snorkel gear were great, beach umbrellas were in need of repair tho. Awesome shower and plenty of towels, but disappointed mirror/window in shower was not working this time as outside view from bathroom is a nice touch. Cleaning supplies provided, would have like to have had paper towels available tho. Bed and A/C made sleeping comfortable, rooster wake up call is provided. Loved the walk out patio and chairs to take in the views, close to pool, and the first floor is nice to walk into after a full day of fun. Would stay again and recommend this room & resort, especially now that the Happy Talk Bar/Restaurant is open.
Great time on a beautiful island. The resort was great, staff are all real friendly. The location of the room with the views is the best location at the resort, could park my car near room and go. Great bed and views of ocean from room. Would love to come back again some day and maybe try the room next to it. It has a bigger kitchen by the same owner. Overall great stay and would recommend.
I had an unsual trip as I came alone to visit a childhood friend! I stayed in four very different places on the Island, they were all unique and wonderful in their own way but I mostly enjoyed the quiet serenity and view of Dale's condo. My friend stopped by and we talked for hours. She works in a high end resort and she was particularly impressed! I hope to return to this particular unit again. Was a lovely home away from home! Perfect for a couple or someone traveling on their own. Some meals I ate at Happy Talk Restaurant, others I just bought and nearby Foodland and brought back to the condo. Mahalo Dale!!! I am very grateful!
We stayed for 4 nights and had a great stay. The location is great, near Hanalei Bay, a quick 10 minute drive into the town. Room has a wonderful ocean view. Bring some bug spray if you want to gaze at the stars from the lanai as they WILL bite (no need for heavy duty stuff - Lemongrass oil or cinnamon oil will work as our EcoSmart bug spray, which uses both, kept away the offenders). The room is a hotel-room sized space, but enough space for two. The resort is nice, with beach access next to the St. Regis (which has a great beach-side bar to enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset). The resort's restaurant is under construction, but the bar is serving food such as salads, pizzas, etc. (The beet salad is delicious!) All in all, a nice stay.
We loved everything about our second honeymoon retreat at Hanalei Bay Resort!
The staff was pleasant and helpful, the grounds gorgeous and the pool is second to none. The pool landscaping included waterfalls and natural rock throughout -- we felt as though we were practically swimming in the jungle. The hot tub is incredible, again with the natural rocks and its own waterfall, plus a sand bottom that felt great on tired feet.
The unit we rented was a first floor studio in the "Guava" Building. Several staffers told us if they were going to stay at HBR, they would stay in Guava. The view from the king size bed can not be beat! We hurried to get to our destination on Saturday night and arrived just in time to see a glorious sunset over Hanalei Bay with the "Bali Hai" mountain in the background. No matter the weather, the view did not disappoint. Plus, being on the first floor, we were able to walk out onto the lanai and enjoy coffee or a cocktail in virtual privacy. (We did have to share the space with the ubiquitous Kauai wild chickens and the endangered Hawaiian Nene geese. They were pleasant company, to be sure!)
This is a studio unit, so space is limited. There is a small kitchenette area with mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a blender. We didn't have plans to do much cooking for ourselves, but we did have bagels and snacks, and the fridge kept our Coronas icy cold after a day on the beach. We also got some nice steaks at Safeway in nearby Kapaa and grilled them on the grills a little ways down the path from our unit. The bathroom has ample counter space for our toiletries and a great walk-in shower for two.
The small town of Princeville has a shopping center with an ample supermarket (with a decent deli, beer, wine and liquor) and nice shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed a dinner at Tiki Iniki, which is owned and operated by rocker Todd Rundgren and his wife, Michelle. Also, visit the Happy Talk lounge right in HBR for good food and live music. Make reservations, because it books up!
Nearby Hanalei town is a quaint area for shopping, eating and excursions. It was a nice place to spend one rainy, overcast day.
The entire north shore is littered with amazing beaches, ranging from safe, life-guarded swimming and snorkeling to paddle boarding and kite surfing. There is also access to hike into the Na Pali coast, which shouldn't be missed!
Bottom line, we'll definitely be back to HBR!
From the moment you drive you are in awe at the views from the lobby, we could not wait to head over to our room, they treat you really nice at check-in, they insisted on carry our bags (Just a couple) and show us our place, they warned us, your room has a nice view, and Yes it did! I loved everything about the property, the bed is big and comfy, the kitchenette has everything you need and more, what I loved the most was the shower! woohoo, got to love those water yets! The view from the room is spectacular, we cached a magical rainbow over the mountains one morning, it was just amazing! The property has plenty of towels, extra linens, surfing gear, ironing board, hair dryer, all the amenities of a hotel suite and much more. Plus the resort pool area and tennis court along with the path to the beach are the best! I hope I can make it back one day! I wish I stayed longer to take advantage of the amenities, we were on the go all the time, but I really appreciate the owner emails to check on us. Thank you Dr. Dale for your attentive emails! God Bless!
This room at the HBR had private, unobstructed, and spectacular views of the ocean. Sitting on the lanai having coffee was such a treat. Beautiful birds and roosters would greet us in the mornings (or whenever we sat outside). The room was the perfect size, and the bed was very comfortable. Dale was a perfect host who was very quick in getting back to us (before and during our stay). The grounds had a beautiful pool and a lovely lounge which served a small, but delicious menu. It was great that we could rent most things by the pool area for the day. The room was a short and beautiful walk down to the ocean - which was very calm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
