Vintage charm and superb hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for our annual girls trip without husbands and kids. It would have to be one of our favorite places to date. We love Bendigo for its beautiful charm so this home was perfect- we adored all the cute vintage touches !!! Our host also left out lots of treats, making us feel very welcome and very spoiled. Thankyou for having us.

It's the little things...

  • 5 of 5

Our annual family bash to Bendigo is fun, frivolous and fantastic regardless of accomodation. Over the years (and they've been a few) our 9+ family members have enjoyed numerous Stayz properties, hotel rooms and cozy cabins. This year, however, we were fortunate enough to lay our weary heads in the Old Store - a truly memorable experience that may have finally ended our usual room hopping ways.

It's the little touches that make you feel extra warm and welcome when venturing into this airy and well equiped old home. Things like:

- The Welcome basket, stocked with a variety of delicious nibbles and wine to kick off your wonderful weekend.

- Complimentary port and sweets on the sideboard.

- Milk and ice in the fridge.

- Numerous varieties of tea, a small coffee maker along with instant or fresh coffee.

- Sauces and condiments.

- Books and magazines of various interests scattered throughout the house.

- Board games, video games, DVDs, Netflix, CDs and a stereo.

All these things render the Old Store, instantly and seamlessly, a true home away from home, where everything has been taken care and all you need worry about is enjoying your stay.

The house itself is vast and well spaced, featuring 5 decent sized bedrooms with high ceilings and a charming old world feel that is both comfortable and welcoming. It has two seperate living room areas for people travelling with perhaps older children or those who prefer a touch of separation. We retired to the front Lounge most evenings, enjoying a game of chess, considered conversation or just each other's company while we watched a show. The kitchen is also quite large and well mapped out for larger families, navigating around each other as they prepare for differing food tastes and preferences. The bathrooms are both large and well equipped. It's also wonderful to have the large deck outside, equipped with BBQ, especially in the hotter months.

The house itself is also in an ideal location, just a few streets up from the Bendigo main drag and a short drive from most of the main attractions.

The only thing to note is that the walls are thin, the rooms are spaced mostly back to back and you can hear everything and anything others in the rooms surrounding you are saying and doing. For us this provided mostly easy communication and entertainment, though for non-families this may present an issue.

Overall we had a lovely stay at the Old Store and look forward to returning time and time again for mor

Great for Groups

  • 5 of 5

Our group of eight long-time friends spent a wonderful 3 nights at The Old Store. Plenty of room to spread-out and comfortable beds for 8 fussy women. Wonderful olde world atmosphere but modern necessities such as two toilets, two showers and a kitchen with everything. We really appreciated the basket of pre-dinner goodies upon our arrival. Despite a little traffic noise in the outside bedrooms, this clean, spacious abode was a joy. Thanks Cath.

Big and comfy house.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here. The size suited our group. Walking distance to the Cbd was a bonus and we also used the 55 bus that travelled past the house. Bendigo is a city well worth exploring - the art gallery, theatre tour and talking tram were amongst our highlights. Netflix access was utilised one rainy afternoon. The welcome basket was very welcome! Cath responded quickly and thoroughly to our questions. Thanks Cath.
