"How's the serenity!" A Castle, like it's namesake from the movie "The Castle", is an absolute waterfront property that edges the banks of Lake King. No powerlines in sight, just uninterupted views of the lake with the mountains in the background.
Sit on the deck in summer with a cheeky chardonny, or inside by the open fire with a serene shiraz during the mild winter months, watching the seabirds and boating activities, and simply "absorb the vibe"... This 3 bedroom property provides all that you would require for your seaside holiday. A fabulous location, with it's own private jetty for fishing or water sports. Experience beautiful sunrises over the lake in the morning and soak up the sun on your sheltered deck.
'A Castle', is only 6km from Paynesville village, where you will find restaurants and cafes, two supermarkets, and quaint shops, where you can purchase that special souvenir to remind you of your seaside holiday. Both the Paynesville Cruiser Club and the Old Paynesville Pub have courtesy buses, for your convenience, if you want a night out on the town, without the worry of drink driving.
Take one of the commercial cruises from either Paynesville, Lakes Entrance, or Metung, and explore the largest inland lake system in Australia, visiting the many ports and the magnificent 90 mile surf beach. If you are lucky enough to have your own boat, the possibilities are endless, and you can divert to the less visited Rottamah Island, Sperm Whale head, And Picnic Point, just to name a few.
The yard is fully fenced both front and rear of the property, so your furry friends can enjoy your family holiday too. There are plenty of walking tracks that lead you to Paynesville, or down to the Mitchel river, and the Eagle Point wildlife sancturary. And there is wildlife in abundance! You are almost certain to see a mob of kangaroos in the afternoons along the Eagle Point to Paynesville walking track. Pelicans, plovers, kookaburras, cockatoos and parrots sharing your private garden space. Watch the dolphins gliding past, and the resident eagles soaring overhead. This really is an escape from the pressures of the city.
A castle also has it's own section of beach, for the children and the dogs to swim, or launch your kayaks and canoes for a row around the foreshore. Plenty of fishing to be enjoyed and cooked on the barbecue in the summer sun. Some of the best fishing to be had, is up one of the many rivers that feed into the lake system. The Mitchell river is within walking distance from 'A Castle' and provides ample shoreline to enjoy this relaxing activity.
So many things to do and see. Why would you go anywhere else, 'Ahh, The Serenity'

Totally relaxing and we are already missing A Castle and Eagle Point
We had such a relaxing stay at A Castle and thoroughly recommend this peaceful location to get away and unwind, especially if you have a four legged family member as we do. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and very pet friendly, with everything we needed to make our stay stress & hassle free. We especially enjoyed sitting on the rear deck taking in the uninterrupted water view. One of the highlights seeing the local swans who would come visit when they saw us. The location is ideal, very quiet and less than 10 minute drive into pretty Paynesville where there are a variety of shops, including many cafes, restaurants & takeaway options. Take the ferry across to Raymond Island and see Koalas in numbers you won't believe. We found Eagle Point a good base from which to explore further down the coast and recommend a day trip visiting picturesque Metung & Lakes Entrance. We definitely hope to come back in the future.
Beautiful place, very nice getaway
Very enjoyable holiday
Better in real life!! We were amazed walking in and seeing the size and view in this place. Comfy beds and lovely kitchen. Was very nice being on the deck and being able to dock our boat on the jetty and a lovely back yard for our dog who was a very happy chap here. Will 100% return. Thank you!!
Hi Caitlin, we're thrilled that you were happy with A Castle. We love being able to share our little slice of paradise. Cheers Wendy
Beautiful peaceful location
A very comfortable, well equipped house set in a large, mature native garden that backs straight out to the waters' edge. We especially enjoyed sitting on the back deck watching the sunrises to the accompaniment of the abundant birdlife. Our little dogs loved it too and we could relax knowing they were safely enclosed within the sturdy fences and gates. My only issue was with the large concave dip in the QS mattress in one of the bedrooms which made it very uncomfortable. Otherwise, it was just terrific.
Thanks Megan, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Perhaps it's time I changed the eggshell underlay that I put on the bed because my husband complained it was too hard!! We hope to see you back sometime. Cheers Wendy
Had a fantastic romantic escape to this gorgeous property with my partner for the weekend.. Just loved the private jetty and beach, no luck with the fishing unfortunately! The house was beautiful, has everything you need and more.
Thank you Wendy and Gary, we will be back :-)
Thanks Maria, we're so pleased you had a nice break, and we certainly welcome you back at any time! Cheers Wendy
Loved our stay at A Castle. The private beach and jetty were ideal for swimming and fishing. Being able to launch our kayaks from the beach and explore Lake King was great. It was so good that we have just booked it again for March.
I'm so glad you enjoyed your time at A Castle. It's great to have repeat guests, I'm sure you'll have a great time on the Labour day weekend! cheers Wendy
