A Castle- Lakefront with a jetty & Pet friendly!

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

"How's the serenity!" A Castle, like it's namesake from the movie "The Castle", is an absolute waterfront property that edges the banks of Lake King. No powerlines in sight, just uninterupted views of the lake with the mountains in the background.

Sit on the deck in summer with a cheeky chardonny, or inside by the open fire with a serene shiraz during the mild winter months, watching the seabirds and boating activities, and simply "absorb the vibe"... This 3 bedroom property provides all that you would require for your seaside holiday. A fabulous location, with it's own private jetty for fishing or water sports. Experience beautiful sunrises over the lake in the morning and soak up the sun on your sheltered deck.

'A Castle', is only 6km from Paynesville village, where you will find restaurants and cafes, two supermarkets, and quaint shops, where you can purchase that special souvenir to remind you of your seaside holiday. Both the Paynesville Cruiser Club and the Old Paynesville Pub have courtesy buses, for your convenience, if you want a night out on the town, without the worry of drink driving.

Take one of the commercial cruises from either Paynesville, Lakes Entrance, or Metung, and explore the largest inland lake system in Australia, visiting the many ports and the magnificent 90 mile surf beach. If you are lucky enough to have your own boat, the possibilities are endless, and you can divert to the less visited Rottamah Island, Sperm Whale head, And Picnic Point, just to name a few.

The yard is fully fenced both front and rear of the property, so your furry friends can enjoy your family holiday too. There are plenty of walking tracks that lead you to Paynesville, or down to the Mitchel river, and the Eagle Point wildlife sancturary. And there is wildlife in abundance! You are almost certain to see a mob of kangaroos in the afternoons along the Eagle Point to Paynesville walking track. Pelicans, plovers, kookaburras, cockatoos and parrots sharing your private garden space. Watch the dolphins gliding past, and the resident eagles soaring overhead. This really is an escape from the pressures of the city.

A castle also has it's own section of beach, for the children and the dogs to swim, or launch your kayaks and canoes for a row around the foreshore. Plenty of fishing to be enjoyed and cooked on the barbecue in the summer sun. Some of the best fishing to be had, is up one of the many rivers that feed into the lake system. The Mitchell river is within walking distance from 'A Castle' and provides ample shoreline to enjoy this relaxing activity.

So many things to do and see. Why would you go anywhere else, 'Ahh, The Serenity'

Second time we had the pleasure to stay at A Castle. Thank you to Wendy & Gary for making their wonderful home available to us again. Good fun skiing from the jetty as well as travelling to Paynesville via boat for a coffee. Even the dogs came along and had a great time. Great location. Home well equipped and comfortable.

Quite location and friendly neighbours.

Relaxing holiday for all the family

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful family Christmas celebration at the Castle.

We were very relaxed in the serene lake location and appreciated being able to bring our dog with us. We were very comfortable and everything we needed was

on hand. The owners had even set up a Christmas tree which was a very thoughtful touch.

What a magic place to stay!

We loved the location & the vibe of the house exceeded our expectations, decorated beautifully & so comfy, we felt at home straight away & fell in love with the place.

As well as the beautiful, light, airy home, the location was such a treat, backing on to what felt like our own private lake with its own private jetty. My husband got to live his dream as I watched him sail his boat in the beautiful lake.

Best holiday ever! We’ll be back...

Owner's Response: It's such a pleasure to share our home with you and your husband Tammy. And it's a good feeling knowing that our guests get to live their dream, whether it's catching that prize fish, waterskiing on the lake, or being able to sail their boat on a daily basis off their own slice of shoreline. We welcome you back anytime. Cheers Wendy

Stunning lake view

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was very relaxing to sit on the back deck & look at the beautiful lake views. Our fur babies had the best time and loved all the back yard smells. The open plan was great, however made it a little challenging to keep the heat in at times.

Highly recommend a Castle.

Very comfortable with everything we needed

  • 5 of 5

Me and my three sisters had a wonderful weekend away together at this property. It's very spacious and well set up specifically for entertaining, dining and hanging out together. With the two fireplaces and split system we were warm and cozy despite the weather. We would certainly recommend this property for a group looking to get away together. It's also only 5 minutes drive from the shops in Paynesville and 10 from Bairnsdale. Thank you very much to our hosts Wendy and Gary!

Great location, great views, easy to find

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed with out fur babies at the house and (except that the fences don't really cater to hold small dogs in check) really enjoyed it. We had beautiful winter weather and the rear deck was nicely protected from the wind so that I could enjoy the sun on those really comfy lounges.

The 2 fire places were really nice too but also needed in order to keep the house warm. There is ONE reverse cycle unit in the lounge and -after scavenging the through the house- we found a little heater to heat up the freezing bedroom. After going to Bunnings to buy another 100kg of wood we could keep the fire places running for most of the day and it was nice and cozy finally.

Overall, really nice house, well taken care of, grounds could do with some maintenance but overall highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thanks Bernd, I'm not surprised that you felt the cold, being one of the coldest winters on record and also being only 2 hours drive from the snowline at Hotham. I am surprised that you didn't take advantage of the woodpile in the carport, but perhaps your preferred your wood already split. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday overall. Cheers Wendy
