Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms providing the most awesome views!

Esther and I wanted to make it affordable and after reading our many reviews, you will understand why are guests were surprised by what we offer. This beautiful, recently renovated cabin sits on 1+ acre of wooded land on the side of a hill overlooking the Trackrock Valley. Off in the distance, the tallest point in Georgia (4,784 ft) can be seen - Brasstown Bald Mountain and directly beneath the first and second deck, one can see a winding country road that passes a white-steepled church. You can hear cows calling out to each other and many other peaceful sounds as you drink that first morning cup of coffee on the lower deck or a cup of hot chocolate around the new fire pit. A new Amish glider was placed on the deck off the master bedroom allowing you to sit and enjoy the view.

It's hard to believe that only two hours northeast of the hustling and bustling noise of Atlanta, you can find such a tranquil setting and the opportunity to escape. Town is not that far as the picturesque town of Blairsville is only eight (8) miles away. You will pass over some of the most beautiful country you will ever see as you make your way over the winding road that leads to Blairsville.

Surrounding area: There is much to see and/or do. This is a photographer's dream ... so many beautiful pictures to capture! We have seen the Dogwood season begin to open on the mountain, a red-headed woodpecker hammering out a meal, graceful deer leap across our path and the neighbors tell us that we will see our share of black bears.

You are only minutes from Vogel State Park, Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Trail. Hiking trails are close by, horseback riding at the Trackrock Stables, tubing at Pappy's and in Helen, digging for gold in Dahlonega, boating and fishing at Notelly Lake, shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall (woo hoo!), swimming at Vogel State Park, jogging in Meeks Park, and in the Fall... the changing of the leaves and the local festivals.

About Esther or Carl

Esther and I have been married over 25 years and we love people as each person is unique. Have you ever sat in the Atlanta airport and watch people as they walk by, observe their manners, and gestures.

We have met the nicest people who have become our guests and many have provided insight into how we can better accommodate future guests which is what this is about. Many are just wanting to 'pay the mortgage', this is not an issue with us as we really desire to please our guests.

Esther or Carl purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Esther or Carl chose North Georgia Mountains

It was a foreclosure and when we walked through the door on Valentines Day 2011 and pulled back the drapes and saw the view, it was 'love at first sight'.

We then started to mold the cabin to our liking as Esther started to pick out the color of paint and obtain furniture from the local shops.

What makes this cabin unique

Choestoe Sanctuary is close to all the natural points of interest and provides a peaceful haven to rest and reflect. I am sure tthe reviews highlight this fact. Everything was added as though we were going to live here all the time as many places provide cheap items, we have not. Each time we vacation there, we add sometime new.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Left on Sep 25, 2017 for a stay in Sep 2017

We arrived a day before the hurricane hit, we lost power for a day and a half but it was fine. We sat around and played cards by candle light. Carl was very good about keeping in touch with us, and getting the power back on. We will be back next year and hopefully we can enjoy the fire pit and swing.

Our cabin is located in the desirable area known as Choestoe Hills overlooking the Trackrock Valley. We are not a cheap cabin, just affordable!

There are approximately ten (10) cabins in this area and only three are available to the public for renting.

Blairsville is 8 miles away with its many thrift stores, consignment and antique shops. For the serious shopper, the Premium Outlet Mall is about an hour away and Atlanta and Asheville, NC are two hours away. Helen, GA is about an 25 miles away with its many Christmas stores for shopping.

Blairsville was recently selected as one of the Applachian Trail towns with the Applachian Trail close by.

Pappy's, just down the road, has water tubing ... you can actually see the tubers go by as you sit and have your meal.

You will fall in love with this area and its people ... Southern hospitality is a reality in Blairsville!

Other Activities: White water rafting, many waterfalls, hiking trails, the beautiful Vogel State Park with its many trails, lake and water falls and the Appalachian Trail are all very close.

Golf: There are two golf courses within 10 miles... Butternut Creek Golf Course is a favorite and you will find a brochure inside the cabin.

Ski: Sky Valley, NC

This is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.

Fishing- this would be Southern Highroads Outfitters in Blairsville I had a guest who hired a guide for an awesome 4 hours fly fishing lesson and loved it. They are great people and my guest's wife texted me about all the fish he caught.

Notes:
Smoking is permitted outside the cabin only; smoking inside may incur a special cleaning charge of $250.00. We upgraded the family area with a 40 in Samsung with 250 channels of cable TV. We also upgraded the master bedroom to a 32 in TV. There also is a ROKU XS. With this unit you will find Angry Birds, besides the other free stations that are supported. This unit also has an USB port, you can either bring your own movies on an external drive, or your audio files on a jump drive and enjoy the music of your choice. For additional details concerning this unit, go to www.roku.com. There also is a compact stereo with an iPod dock. A new fire pit was added in Aug. of 2011 for you to enjoy during cooler evenings. Iron and ironing board are provided. One thing I always hated was renting and not knowing what coffee filters to bring. We have a nice coffee maker and provide the cone filters. We also added a new coffee grinder in Dec. 2011.

Beautiful mountains of northern Georgia.

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I loved the countryside of Blairsville! We drove to all the mountain towns and felt Blairsville was the prettiest by far. Our favorite drive was going from Choestoe Sanctuary into town to eat breakfast at Hole in the Wall on the square. We ate breakfast there every morning sitting outside. The breakfast was excellent every time. The Italian restaurant on the square was very good but pricey. Now the review of Choestoe Sanctuary. For the price you cannot beat it. The view from the back deck was beautiful, soothing and peaceful! The cabin was perfect for us and would be great for a family also. We did not cook during our stay but everything you need seemed to be there. The wifi worked fine and plenty of tv channels. Loved having a tv upstairs in the master bedroom. You won't find a better deal for the money! Would recommend for sure and we did recommend it to a family who was camping at Vogel State Park. Vogel State Park was a great little Park about 5 miles from the cabin. if you are an outdoors person, then you will love this part of the country. Fishing in rivers or lakes, hiking (Appalachian Trail) and golf. Or just sit on the deck of the cabin reading and enjoying the view!

Owner's Response: Thank you both for taking the time to submit the review and also providing future guests more than just the highlights from the cabin but also the beautiful Blairsville area. At the present time our wireless router supports speeds in the "N" area but when we are there during the end of October I have a new Linksys that will support the "AC" speeds. We also have fiber broadband at the cabin and previous guests love that. Esther and I look forward having you both as our guests again. Carl and Esther

Wonderful-Submitted for guest

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our 3 year old daughter, and I vacation once a year and we had a blast! The cabin really is stocked well and has a great view. We picked apples at Mercier Orchards, rode horses at Trackrock Stables, caught rainbow trout at the Black Mountain Trout Ponds, and saw the falls at Vogel State Park. Next time, we'd love to see the Alpaca Farm and Helton Creek Falls! And when we go back, we'll have another little one for the other little bed. Already excited to return!

Perfect in every way!

Choestoe Santuary is just that...a santuary! You feel right at home the moment you walk in. The view is awesome! This is our second year and we definitely plan a third year and more. The location is central to all area towns. Carl and Esther are available if needed. However, they give such detailed information you probably won't have to contact them. Thank you both and God bless!

Owner's Response: Some guests when you first speak with them you get that feeling "these are going to be great guests" and this was the case with both of you. Esther and I are glad you found the cabin well stocked and centrally located to all the natural attractions of the Blairsville area. As we came in behind both of you for our week "well my week of outside cleaning" all the decks have been pressure washed and I am applying the stain and sealer to a new picnic table for one of the decks. Esther also brought up four new pillows and cover and two copper pans and other additions for the cabin. We look forward having you as our guests again.

Relaxing retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited for our anniversary and loved getting to relax on the screened porch and watch the sunset. Carl and Esther were very helpful in making suggestions for dinner and activities in the area. The views were great!

Owner's Response: It was great having both of you as our guests and thank you for selecting our cabin. I wasn't aware when you booked it was your anniversary as Esther and I stay at the cabin for our special date each year and dine at Michaelee's which I just happened to recommend to you and you both did dine there. We look forward having you back as guests since you are within the Atlanta drive area and many of our guests book a "last minute getaway" and receive a special price.

Sweet cabin with a view!

We loved our stay in this cabin. Impeccably clean with most everything you could need for a stay in the GA mountains. Extremely comfortable. Great for a couple or small family. Lots to do nearby or a great place to just relax and read.
