Overview

Blairsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms providing the most awesome views!

Esther and I wanted to make it affordable and after reading our many reviews, you will understand why are guests were surprised by what we offer. This beautiful, recently renovated cabin sits on 1+ acre of wooded land on the side of a hill overlooking the Trackrock Valley. Off in the distance, the tallest point in Georgia (4,784 ft) can be seen - Brasstown Bald Mountain and directly beneath the first and second deck, one can see a winding country road that passes a white-steepled church. You can hear cows calling out to each other and many other peaceful sounds as you drink that first morning cup of coffee on the lower deck or a cup of hot chocolate around the new fire pit. A new Amish glider was placed on the deck off the master bedroom allowing you to sit and enjoy the view.

It's hard to believe that only two hours northeast of the hustling and bustling noise of Atlanta, you can find such a tranquil setting and the opportunity to escape. Town is not that far as the picturesque town of Blairsville is only eight (8) miles away. You will pass over some of the most beautiful country you will ever see as you make your way over the winding road that leads to Blairsville.

Update- we just installed a dishwasher on July 7th, 2015 for our guests, of almost 100 reviews only one had mentioned not having this but....

Surrounding area: There is much to see and/or do. This is a photographer's dream ... so many beautiful pictures to capture! We have seen the Dogwood season begin to open on the mountain, a red-headed woodpecker hammering out a meal, graceful deer leap across our path and the neighbors tell us that we will see our share of black bears.

You are only minutes from Vogel State Park, Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Trail. Hiking trails are close by, horseback riding at the Trackrock Stables, tubing at Pappy's and in Helen, digging for gold in Dahlonega, boating and fishing at Notelly Lake, shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall (woo hoo!), swimming at Vogel State Park, jogging in Meeks Park, and in the Fall... the changing of the leaves and the local festivals.

About Esther or Carl

Esther and I have been married over 25 years and we love people as each person is unique. Have you ever sat in the Atlanta airport and watch people as they walk by, observe their manners, and gestures.

We have met the nicest people who have become our guests and many have provided insight into how we can better accommodate future guests which is what this is about. Many are just wanting to 'pay the mortgage', this is not an issue with us as we really desire to please our guests.

Esther or Carl purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Esther or Carl chose North Georgia Mountains

It was a foreclosure and when we walked through the door on Valentines Day 2011 and pulled back the drapes and saw the view, it was 'love at first sight'.

We then started to mold the cabin to our liking as Esther started to pick out the color of paint and obtain furniture from the local shops.

What makes this cabin unique

Choestoe Sanctuary is close to all the natural points of interest and provides a peaceful haven to rest and reflect. I am sure tthe reviews highlight this fact. Everything was added as though we were going to live here all the time as many places provide cheap items, we have not. Each time we vacation there, we add sometime new.

Guestbook comments from the owner

An incredible home from home

We rented this home for the specific purpose of rest and relaxation, and I have to say that this could not have been more perfect. The house was like a home away from home. From the moment you enter, you feel at home. The owners have thought of everything you might need or want in your own house. The only thing we needed to get to complete our stay was food. Even spices and condiments were provided. The most important thing for me was the screened in deck. As soon as we arrived, I sat out on the deck for a good 3 hours before deciding to bring our cases in from the car. Not a single bug which was a big thing for me. In the course of the week I read 4 books all from the comfort of the Adirondack chair on the deck. My compliments to Mr. & Mrs. Petty for making this my most favorite rental.

Owner's Response: I have no idea what this review meant as out texts from Joyce was great after arrival and all had been done prior to show here the place for her kids. I hate seeing only 4 stars when nothing is provided allowing you to make sure they are happy!

Restful and Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful week for us. The location was just right for all of our family to come visit during the week. The cabin is absolutely beautiful. It is such a blessing to have the opportunity to get away to a very nice vacation spot at an affordable price. Carl and Esther are fantastic hosts, and were so gracious in responding to any questions we had. We did not need Frank, but it was also very comforting to know that there was someone nearby that we could call on if need be. I loved getting my morning coffee and just sitting on the porch reading my book before anyone else awoke. The day at Vogel State Park and Bear Hair Trail was good (except for hiking up a mountain in a driving rainstorm). We really loved our day in Helen also (lazy tubing and shopping). Pappy's was fun, but missed out on the BBQ (closed the whole month of August). We were there an entire week and could easily have stayed longer. We would highly recommend Choestoe Sanctuary to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while. Our family will definitely be back. Thank you Carl and Esther for a great vacation.

Owner's Response: Another great set of guests; we at Choestoe Sanctuary seem to always draw the "cream of the crop"! Esther and I are glad you chose our cabin and found everything you needed in making your week perfect except being able to taste the BBQ at Jim's. We look forward having you back as our guests. The cabin was very clean with comfortable furnishings. Kitchen had all you needed and onsite laundry

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin was great! The kitchen had everything one would need, even though we ate out most days. Very clean, well kept and spacious. The furniture was comfortable with plenty of room for us to spread out and relax after long days out hiking and seeing the sights. My only wish was for a foot stool or ottoman for the chair in the living room to rest my tired feet from all the walking.

The location was perfect. Mountain views in every direction, quiet streets yet only a short drive to the center of town. Close to many hiking trails, waterfalls and some beautiful scenic drives and local shops. We also enjoyed the screened porch and wooden swing.

The owners are very responsive, helpful and accommodating (we arrived late in the evening). Overall it was a great stay and I will definitely recommend Choestoe Sanctuary to family and friends who maybe traveling this way. My family would also stay here again.

Owner's Response: Esther and I are always glad when our guests feel "at home" at Choestoe Sanctuary. You brought our many aspects that here from one guests to the next and that lets us know that we are still pleasing our guests and what they want. The chair you speak about is planned to be replaced in late October with one that will swivel and allow our guests to watch TV from a better angle; maybe we will see about a foot rest also! Thank you for being our guests and look forward to your return.

Owner's Response: Thank you Dave for submitting the review. We are glad you had a great time at our cabin again and also for the short video of the place you found at the lake allowing you and your son to run off the rocks and "cool off"! I will advise other guests of this spot. We look forward having you back again. Carl and Esther

Our cabin is located in the desirable area known as Choestoe Hills overlooking the Trackrock Valley. We are not a cheap cabin, just affordable!

There are approximately ten (10) cabins in this area and only two are available to the public for renting.

Blairsville is 8 miles away with its many thrift stores, consignment and antique shops. For the serious shopper, the Premium Outlet Mall is about an hour away and Atlanta and Asheville, NC are two hours away. Helen, GA is about an hour away with its many Christmas stores for shopping.

Blairsville was recently selected as one of the Applachian Trail towns with the Applachian Trail close by.

Pappy's, just down the road, has water tubing ... you can actually see the tubers go by as you sit and have your meal.

You will fall in love with this area and its people ... Southern hospitality is a reality in Blairsville!

Other Activities: White water rafting, many waterfalls, hiking trails, the beautiful Vogel State Park with its many trails, lake and water falls and the Appalachian Trail are all very close.

Golf: There are two golf courses within 10 miles... Butternut Creek Golf Course is a favorite and you will find a brochure inside the cabin.

Ski: Sky Valley, NC

This is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.

Fishing- this would be Southern Highroads Outfitters in Blairsville I had a guest who hired a guide for an awesome 4 hours fly fishing lesson and loved it. They are great people and my guest's wife texted me about all the fish he caught.

Notes:
Smoking is permitted outside the cabin only; smoking inside may incur a special cleaning charge of $250.00. We upgraded the family area with a 40 in Samsung with 250 channels of cable TV. We also upgraded the master bedroom to a 32 in TV. There also is a ROKU XS. With this unit you will find Angry Birds, besides the other free stations that are supported. This unit also has an USB port, you can either bring your own movies on an external drive, or your audio files on a jump drive and enjoy the music of your choice. For additional details concerning this unit, go to www.roku.com. There also is a compact stereo with an iPod dock. A new fire pit was added in Aug. of 2011 for you to enjoy during cooler evenings. Iron and ironing board are provided. One thing I always hated was renting and not knowing what coffee filters to bring. We have a nice coffee maker and provide the cone filters. We also added a new coffee grinder in Dec. 2011.
