Blairsville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms providing the most awesome views!

Esther and I wanted to make it affordable and after reading our many reviews, you will understand why are guests were surprised by what we offer. This beautiful, recently renovated cabin sits on 1+ acre of wooded land on the side of a hill overlooking the Trackrock Valley. Off in the distance, the tallest point in Georgia (4,784 ft) can be seen - Brasstown Bald Mountain and directly beneath the first and second deck, one can see a winding country road that passes a white-steepled church. You can hear cows calling out to each other and many other peaceful sounds as you drink that first morning cup of coffee on the lower deck or a cup of hot chocolate around the new fire pit. A new Amish glider was placed on the deck off the master bedroom allowing you to sit and enjoy the view.

It's hard to believe that only two hours northeast of the hustling and bustling noise of Atlanta, you can find such a tranquil setting and the opportunity to escape. Town is not that far as the picturesque town of Blairsville is only eight (8) miles away. You will pass over some of the most beautiful country you will ever see as you make your way over the winding road that leads to Blairsville.

Update- we just installed a dishwasher on July 7th, 2015 for our guests, of almost 100 reviews only one had mentioned not having this but....

Surrounding area: There is much to see and/or do. This is a photographer's dream ... so many beautiful pictures to capture! We have seen the Dogwood season begin to open on the mountain, a red-headed woodpecker hammering out a meal, graceful deer leap across our path and the neighbors tell us that we will see our share of black bears.

You are only minutes from Vogel State Park, Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Trail. Hiking trails are close by, horseback riding at the Trackrock Stables, tubing at Pappy's and in Helen, digging for gold in Dahlonega, boating and fishing at Notelly Lake, shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall (woo hoo!), swimming at Vogel State Park, jogging in Meeks Park, and in the Fall... the changing of the leaves and the local festivals.

About Esther or Carl

Esther and I have been married over 25 years and we love people as each person is unique. Have you ever sat in the Atlanta airport and watch people as they walk by, observe their manners, and gestures.

We have met the nicest people who have become our guests and many have provided insight into how we can better accommodate future guests which is what this is about. Many are just wanting to 'pay the mortgage', this is not an issue with us as we really desire to please our guests.

Esther or Carl purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Esther or Carl chose North Georgia Mountains

It was a foreclosure and when we walked through the door on Valentines Day 2011 and pulled back the drapes and saw the view, it was 'love at first sight'.

We then started to mold the cabin to our liking as Esther started to pick out the color of paint and obtain furniture from the local shops.

What makes this cabin unique

Choestoe Sanctuary is close to all the natural points of interest and provides a peaceful haven to rest and reflect. I am sure tthe reviews highlight this fact. Everything was added as though we were going to live here all the time as many places provide cheap items, we have not. Each time we vacation there, we add sometime new.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Carlyle makes you feel like a long awaited friend or family member. His lovely place is as cozy as it could possibly be. The fire pit drew the citified indoor girls outdoors. I spent more time outside than I have since my forced "camps" in the military. The time just flew. None of us wanted to leave. We absolutely loved watching the cattle and horses. I watched a calf running and playing w/ its mom, a really sweet sight. The neat thing is the decor and implements are not the standard cabin stuff. They aren't thrift store rejects or yard sale specials. It's NOT a mish-mash of half-heartedly compiled stuff from the basement. Its lovely, comfy, and fully usable. The condiments n such in the fridge made it easy to cook w/o buying all the little extras I forgot when packing. We left a few ice creams to join the wide variety of treats already there. We didn't lack a thing to cook every meal there. None of us wanted to leave, and we hope to return very soon.”

A Lovely Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This well-stocked cabin was really nice. It had a very remote feeling even though it was close to many attractions (state parks, waterfalls, Brasstown Bald) and Atlanta. Thanks so much Carl and Esther!

Owner's Response: Over the years reading the guest reviews posted here and the ones left in the onsite guest books we have found many guests using the cabin as a "launching point" to the Atlanta area, Ashville, and Tenn. attractions, then some want to just getaway and stay around the cabin, hike and decompress. Whatever your desire is you will enjoy our cabin and what natural resources the area has to offer, not to mention the great people of Blairsville. Thank you again for being our guests and look forward to your return again.

Without a doubt, the Choestoe Sanctuary is great place to stay. A terrific get-away for those wanting solitude in a warm inviting cabin but real close to many activities. Pride of ownership shows in the condition of the property and amenities provided.

Very nice cabin with great scenery!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at Choestoe Sanctuary! Everything was very clean even for someone with severe allergies like myself! It really feels like a home away from home and I was so pleased to find little things provided there that I forgot to pack! We really enjoyed taking a break and disconnecting from everything around us by turning off the TV and playing the board games, puzzles, and cards! This cabin was perfect for family time by the fire and has a lovely feel to it. The location was great too. Would highly recommend it and will stay again!

Owner's Response: Esther and I are so glad you and your family chose our cabin and that it lived up to its name "Sanctuary". It always amazed me in these days how important technology is as in the beginning I didn't offer cable TV and found it hard to attract guests so we added it and kept adding the technology. As far as the little things Esther and I always want the cabin to be stocked as though we might walk through the door at any minute. We look forward having you and your family back as out guests as we have a large return rate year after year. Thank you for being great guests as it takes both side for a great getaway! This is one of our favorite cabins that we've ever stayed in, the decor is very fitting and the overall feel is of comfort and home. The location is perfect for everything that we wanted to do and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed morning coffee on the Amish glider and soaked in the tranquility and peacefulness of the mountain life, if only for a weekend. Esther and Carl were very friendly and easy to work with. You can tell that they love people and take pride in their cabin and go the extra mile to make sure your stay is very home-like and enjoyable. Loved it!

Owner's Response: This review warmed our hearts as you understand that we are about our guests and not attempting to "pay for our cabin". When we purchased the cabin in 2011 it was for our own pleasure but seeing the view and all the area afforded we thought about allowing others to enjoy its charms. Guests are also surprised when they walk through the door and see that they have received for the low price they paid. We look forward having you both back as our guests. Carl and Esther

Great view, great location...

  • 5 of 5

We have had the privilege of renting Choestoe Sanctuary on four different occasions. This lovely cabin has everything one needs for a comfortable and peaceful retreat in the Georgia mountains. Carl and Esther have continually updated the furnishings/amenities both inside and out. Their cabin's view of Brasstown Bald is lovely whether early in the morning or as the sun is beginning set. The view can be accessed from the master bedroom balcony, the first floor screened porch or the Amish swing in the yard. An ample supply of firewood is available for the outdoor fire pit and the living room fireplace. The property is conveniently located near many scenic highways, state parks and hiking trails. The towns of Blairsville, Blue Ridge and Hiawassee are no more than 30 minutes away for those who enjoy shopping and dining out. If traveling the back roads and seeing the natural surroundings are to your liking, there are many scenic drives in north Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Carl and Esther are wonderful hosts and make every effort to insure your stay is a pleasant one. We are so thankful we found their cabin in the woods.

Owner's Response: Esther and I are glad you chose our cabin years prior and that you desire in returning each year. It is guests like you that motivates us in keeping our cabin fresh and updated. Since we started listing our cabin on this site in July of 2011 we have always wanted to treat the cabin as though we might walk through the door at any minute and based on your kind words we have succeeded! We have your reservation for 2017 in place and who knows what new items may be in place. carl and Esther

Our cabin is located in the desirable area known as Choestoe Hills overlooking the Trackrock Valley. We are not a cheap cabin, just affordable!

There are approximately ten (10) cabins in this area and only three are available to the public for renting.

Blairsville is 8 miles away with its many thrift stores, consignment and antique shops. For the serious shopper, the Premium Outlet Mall is about an hour away and Atlanta and Asheville, NC are two hours away. Helen, GA is about an hour away with its many Christmas stores for shopping.

Blairsville was recently selected as one of the Applachian Trail towns with the Applachian Trail close by.

Pappy's, just down the road, has water tubing ... you can actually see the tubers go by as you sit and have your meal.

You will fall in love with this area and its people ... Southern hospitality is a reality in Blairsville!

Other Activities: White water rafting, many waterfalls, hiking trails, the beautiful Vogel State Park with its many trails, lake and water falls and the Appalachian Trail are all very close.

Golf: There are two golf courses within 10 miles... Butternut Creek Golf Course is a favorite and you will find a brochure inside the cabin.

Ski: Sky Valley, NC

This is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.

Fishing- this would be Southern Highroads Outfitters in Blairsville I had a guest who hired a guide for an awesome 4 hours fly fishing lesson and loved it. They are great people and my guest's wife texted me about all the fish he caught.

Smoking is permitted outside the cabin only; smoking inside may incur a special cleaning charge of $250.00. We upgraded the family area with a 40 in Samsung with 250 channels of cable TV. We also upgraded the master bedroom to a 32 in TV. There also is a ROKU XS. With this unit you will find Angry Birds, besides the other free stations that are supported. This unit also has an USB port, you can either bring your own movies on an external drive, or your audio files on a jump drive and enjoy the music of your choice. For additional details concerning this unit, go to There also is a compact stereo with an iPod dock. A new fire pit was added in Aug. of 2011 for you to enjoy during cooler evenings. Iron and ironing board are provided. One thing I always hated was renting and not knowing what coffee filters to bring. We have a nice coffee maker and provide the cone filters. We also added a new coffee grinder in Dec. 2011.
