Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms providing the most awesome views!

Esther and I wanted to make it affordable and after reading our many reviews, you will understand why are guests were surprised by what we offer. This beautiful, recently renovated cabin sits on 1+ acre of wooded land on the side of a hill overlooking the Trackrock Valley. Off in the distance, the tallest point in Georgia (4,784 ft) can be seen - Brasstown Bald Mountain and directly beneath the first and second deck, one can see a winding country road that passes a white-steepled church. You can hear cows calling out to each other and many other peaceful sounds as you drink that first morning cup of coffee on the lower deck or a cup of hot chocolate around the new fire pit. A new Amish glider was placed on the deck off the master bedroom allowing you to sit and enjoy the view.

It's hard to believe that only two hours northeast of the hustling and bustling noise of Atlanta, you can find such a tranquil setting and the opportunity to escape. Town is not that far as the picturesque town of Blairsville is only eight (8) miles away. You will pass over some of the most beautiful country you will ever see as you make your way over the winding road that leads to Blairsville.

Surrounding area: There is much to see and/or do. This is a photographer's dream ... so many beautiful pictures to capture! We have seen the Dogwood season begin to open on the mountain, a red-headed woodpecker hammering out a meal, graceful deer leap across our path and the neighbors tell us that we will see our share of black bears.

You are only minutes from Vogel State Park, Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Trail. Hiking trails are close by, horseback riding at the Trackrock Stables, tubing at Pappy's and in Helen, digging for gold in Dahlonega, boating and fishing at Notelly Lake, shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall (woo hoo!), swimming at Vogel State Park, jogging in Meeks Park, and in the Fall... the changing of the leaves and the local festivals.

About Esther or Carl

Esther and I have been married over 25 years and we love people as each person is unique. Have you ever sat in the Atlanta airport and watch people as they walk by, observe their manners, and gestures.

We have met the nicest people who have become our guests and many have provided insight into how we can better accommodate future guests which is what this is about. Many are just wanting to 'pay the mortgage', this is not an issue with us as we really desire to please our guests.

Esther or Carl purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Esther or Carl chose North Georgia Mountains

It was a foreclosure and when we walked through the door on Valentines Day 2011 and pulled back the drapes and saw the view, it was 'love at first sight'.

We then started to mold the cabin to our liking as Esther started to pick out the color of paint and obtain furniture from the local shops.

What makes this cabin unique

Choestoe Sanctuary is close to all the natural points of interest and provides a peaceful haven to rest and reflect. I am sure tthe reviews highlight this fact. Everything was added as though we were going to live here all the time as many places provide cheap items, we have not. Each time we vacation there, we add sometime new.

Notes:
Smoking is permitted outside the cabin only; smoking inside may incur a special cleaning charge of $250.00. We upgraded the family area with a 40 in Samsung with 250 channels of cable TV. We also upgraded the master bedroom to a 32 in TV. There also is a ROKU XS. With this unit you will find Angry Birds, besides the other free stations that are supported. This unit also has an USB port, you can either bring your own movies on an external drive, or your audio files on a jump drive and enjoy the music of your choice. For additional details concerning this unit, go to www.roku.com. There also is a compact stereo with an iPod dock. A new fire pit was added in Aug. of 2011 for you to enjoy during cooler evenings. Iron and ironing board are provided. One thing I always hated was renting and not knowing what coffee filters to bring. We have a nice coffee maker and provide the cone filters. We also added a new coffee grinder in Dec. 2011.

Peaceful Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy and comfortable home. It was clean and neat. The country decor is charming. Carl and Esther provided a well stocked kitchen to help making meals a pleasant experience. From every window and door we could see tall and gorgeous trees which gave the feeling of being in a forest. We spent most our time outdoors on the porch and the swing from where we could enjoy the spectacular mountain view. We hiked several trails which were a short distance away from the cabin. Thank you Carl and Esther for sharing your cabin. We love it. We will be back.

Owner's Response: Hi Coopers, Thank you for this great review as you have touched on most points that draw guests to the Blairsville area being in the mountains. There is peace that surrounds the entire area and my guests report through their reviews time and time again they feel it also when they walk through our door. One of my favorites is getting BBQ at Jim's Smokin Que and come back and eat on the deck while having a great view of Brasstown Bald Mountain. Esther and I look forward to your return. Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

As others have mentioned, the property owners have thought of everything! We received information regarding local events from them prior to our visit as well as a recommendation of where to eat to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everything was in working order and the cabin was exceptionally clean. The only slight disappointment was a somewhat diminished view due to the continuous rain during our stay.

Awesome views!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at Choestoe Sanctuary in April. I came home and immediately made reservations for my husband I to spend our anniversary at Choestoe. We had a great time, and he loved the beautiful scenery just as much as I did on my first trip. The views cannot be any better! If you are looking for a nice vacation spot that feeds your soul and is easy on the budget, this one is it! Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Chris and Angela, Esther and I are so glad you came back to celebrate your special day at our cabin and with the awesome people of Blairsville. We first fell in love with the area Christmas of 2010 and decided to purchase here and have never regretted it once. We look forward having you as our guests again. Carl and Esther June 2017

The place was just right for us. Easy access, well furnished, very clean. Kitchen had everything needed excep lids for the bigger pits and frying pans. We really want to go back in October. On and having recliner and good beds was a very important thing. Location was so good.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you loved our cabin. One reason we are so well stocked, we listen to our guests. When we are there the end of July we will check for obtaining lids for the pots and pans in the cabin. The month of October is hard to obtain as we already have this October booked and have a fair amount of October in 2018 already reserved. Again thank you for being great guests and we look forward to your return. Carl and Esther

Quiet and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Lovely private cabin that had everything we needed - inside and out. Beautiful view! Convenient located and easy to get to. Very quiet and peaceful - awoke to bird song every morning (except the morning the Spring storm blew through).

Owner's Response: Esther and I are so glad you chose our cabin and that you found it and the area as wonderful as many of our previous guests, we look forward having you back. We work hard adding new updates each time we visit as we just returned yesterday and had placed a new comforter on the master bed using our pine cone theme. I also installed a large UPS on the entertainment area, who knows what we will add next. Carl and Esther

Our cabin is located in the desirable area known as Choestoe Hills overlooking the Trackrock Valley. We are not a cheap cabin, just affordable!

There are approximately ten (10) cabins in this area and only three are available to the public for renting.

Blairsville is 8 miles away with its many thrift stores, consignment and antique shops. For the serious shopper, the Premium Outlet Mall is about an hour away and Atlanta and Asheville, NC are two hours away. Helen, GA is about an 25 miles away with its many Christmas stores for shopping.

Blairsville was recently selected as one of the Applachian Trail towns with the Applachian Trail close by.

Pappy's, just down the road, has water tubing ... you can actually see the tubers go by as you sit and have your meal.

You will fall in love with this area and its people ... Southern hospitality is a reality in Blairsville!

Other Activities: White water rafting, many waterfalls, hiking trails, the beautiful Vogel State Park with its many trails, lake and water falls and the Appalachian Trail are all very close.

Golf: There are two golf courses within 10 miles... Butternut Creek Golf Course is a favorite and you will find a brochure inside the cabin.

Ski: Sky Valley, NC

This is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.

Fishing- this would be Southern Highroads Outfitters in Blairsville I had a guest who hired a guide for an awesome 4 hours fly fishing lesson and loved it. They are great people and my guest's wife texted me about all the fish he caught.
