The apartment sleeps up to 4 adults on a Queen size bed with luxury Serta Beautyrest pillow-top mattress in the bedroom and queen size sleeper sofa in the living room with 5” memory foam mattress. Maps, guidebooks and a list of our favorite NYC spots are available in the apartment but feel free to ask us for any personalized recommendations.

Why is renting our apartment different from most other short-term rentals in NYC?

1. Peace of mind - we can legally rent our apartment as a short-term vacation rental because our house is a 2-family private dwelling. Apartments in buildings that contain 3 or more apartments cannot be legally rented on a short-term basis (30 days or less) in NYC.

2. We live on the property. While the apartment is a separate unit with a private entrance, we live upstairs. If you have any questions, concerns or issues, we can address it right away and most of the time, in person.

3. We provide all of our guests with an information binder with valuable neighborhood and NYC information and can assist with any requests they may have.

4. We love to travel and know what is important to our guests. We professionally clean our apartment between guests and make sure everything possible is provided for our guests comfort.

We hope you will enjoy our city and apartment!

Dining and Shopping : We are located in a prime area of central Harlem on West 127 St. between 5th & Lenox Avenues just 2 short blocks from the 125 St. retail/business district. Famous Sylvia’s soul food restaurant is literally around the corner. Down the block is one of the hottest restaurants in NYC, Red Rooster, owned by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelson and the venue for President Obama’s fundraisers. Corner Social, a casual bar & restaurant features a lively atmosphere. The newest restaurant options are Babbaluci and Sotto Casa, two delicious brick oven pizza restaurants, Yuzu, a traditional sushi restaurant and Sushi Inoue (recently awarded a Michelin star) where it's all about the delicious, fresh fish! If a sit down dinner is not an option, there are endless choices including the many local delis or Soul Food Buffet & Salad Bars. For those of you that want to prepare your own meals, Whole Foods just opened 2 blocks away and Olive Market, a gourmet market and Pioneer Supermarket are only 3 blocks away.

Retail shopping on 125 St. includes Marshall’s, TJ Maxx & Burlington Coat Factory (Designer/Brand name discounters) , H&M, DSW Shoe Outlet, Old Navy, American Apparel, Banana Republic & Gap Outlets, Bed/Bath & Beyond, & Modell's or House of Hoops (Sporting Goods).

Great Location, wonderful property management

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is two blocks away from the subway station- you can't get much better than that in NYC! While you may or may not want to see the area the apartment is in, the subway is able to get you anywhere you want in the city in just a few minutes. My husband and I stayed here for a couple days and were able to see everything we wanted thanks to the nearby subway station, and our incredible hosts who met us in person upon arrival and made us feel at home immediately. Sandy answered all our questions, gave us recommendations and helped us to get oriented to NYC. The hosts are available promptly and take great pride in their property and hosting.

This was the perfect house!

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I visited New York for a week and Michael and Sandys's place was perfect! They are wonderful hosts and the apartment is so close to great restaurants and public transportation. It was a quiet and comfortable getaway to rest from the hustle of the city. I would stay here again, no question.

Home away from home - only bigger and in NYC!

  • 5 of 5

This is my 2nd year staying in this great apartment and I'm already counting down to my 3rd consecutive stay. The place truly has all the comforts and facilities, and Sandy and Michael are always at hand and happy to help with any requests. Harlem is fab, still retains a lot of its original character and offers a host of great bars and restaurants. Honestly cannot recommend enough - see you next year, guys!

Great apartment and host

  • 5 of 5

We are two females from the middle of a cornfield in mid west Illinois. We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment when we were there and were very surprised that it was so quiet. The bed was very comfortable, and the pull out couch was as comfortable as a pull out couch can be. The apartment had every comfort of home. We also liked the outside door which locked automatically as well as a wooden door with a lock and dead-bolt. The subway was only 2 blocks away, and there were stores and restaurants nearby. As with any large city, you make subway mistakes and grab a cab. We also very much enjoyed Michael and wished we could have met Sandy. The neighborhood is being revitalized, and will only continue to get better. Don't know if we will ever be back to New York City, but we would definitely stay there again.

PERFECT STAY!

  • 5 of 5

This apt of Michael and Sandy's is a gem in Harlem. From the moment we arrived we felt at home in this clean and cozy place! The hosts, Sandy and Michael, could not have been any more gracious and helpful to us throughout our stay! The apt. is located within walking distance to great restaurants (Sylvia's and Red Rooster), shops (Whole Foods, Marshalls, pharmacies, wine shops, etc.) The subway is a 5 minute walk away and you can get practically anywhere in Manhattan in a short period of time from there. Getting away from the touristy and hustle bustle of Midtown and other areas was a treat for us! We felt as if we were returning to our little home for a few days instead of a hotel room. In the apt Sandy and Michael have a variety of tour guides, maps, things to do booklets, etc. so we were always prepared for our next day of adventures in NYC! This apt is a hidden gem in a very upbeat and vibrant part of the city. I highly recommend staying here if you want a great experience in NYC! ( I am already planning to return with my daughter and/or husband next year!) I give this apt and the hosts both a 5+++!
