Local Area Sites and Attractions: North Stonington is a rural community with rolling hills, farms, and an 'Old New England' feeling. Within minutes you can be enjoying Buttonwood Farms Ice Creamery - a very popular spot during the spring, summer and fall months with incredible freshly made ice cream. An adjacent farm usually has an awe-inspiring Sunflower crop that draws hundreds of photographers every year, and a Corn Maze that opens late summer/early too. If you have any questions about things to do or see in the area, please don't hesitate to call us and we will do what we can to answer your questions and requests.
Fresh Seafood Markets and Restaurants: If you would like to indulge in some fresh seafood in the area, be sure to visit the restaurants and markets in Pawcatuck, Mystic, Stonington CT and Westerly, RI. If you need directions or recommendations, please contact us for more information.

Greetings: In the best interest of guests and owners, we ask that all interested guests provide us a little information about themselves. Why Martha chose Voluntown
When I was growing up, our family went camping and canoeing a lot. We would take 7-10 day trips, paddling and portaging (carrying your canoes, food and gear along connecting trails) from one lake to the next in the Boundary Waters/Quetico Superior lakes of Canada. The Pachaug State Forest and surrounding area around the TreeHouse remind me of those great experiences. An incredible place to explore and discover beautiful sights and natural wonders! And, when you want to taste fine wine from a local vineyard, stroll through a popular historic New England town, or roll the dice at the area casinos, it's all just a few minutes away. For us, a perfect combination. We hope you will find it that way, too.
What makes this House unique
The TreeHouse is a truly unique 2-story house that has what many people call the 'wow factor'. The first floor is roomy and comfortable, with lots of light streaming in throughout the day - facing East toward the lake, as well as South and West. The large cantilevered deck gets plenty of sun, but also offers areas of shade, if you want lower UV rays. The second floor has a magnificent, very high cathedral ceiling with exposed beams, a private deck, home office area and extra large IKEA mirrored wardrobe. How many rental homes have a 24 foot by 24 foot bedroom suite with luxurious KING size bed with memory foam mattress and hypoalergenic pillows? How about a programmable massage chair with multiple pressure point settings, including optional heat? An in-house, new, energy efficient front loading washer and dryer? A hotel-style hair dryer mounted on the bathroom wall? The furniture, kitchen appliances, bathroom, washer and dryer, bed, and linens are all new, not a mixed assortment of old stuff. We have tried to think of amenities that will make your stay above and (2) terry cloth robes! The location is really great, too. The lake entrance is a short walk from the house and if you like hiking...Pachaug State Trails (maps available) start at the north end of the lake and go for miles. Feel free to email me with any other questions or requests for information! All the best, Martha

Great Quiet Getaway
This house was wonderful. Our host was terrific. We were sent a welcome package (via email), with all the necessary information about everything in the surrounding area. Our host couldn't have been more accommodating, allowing us an early check-in (if no guests there the previous day), late check out (if no guests the next day), and a well-stocked house. The house was beautiful, clean, and spacious. My wife and I were looking for a quiet getaway and this was absolutely perfect. 10 mins from the casino meant we got to have a nice night out and then we stayed in the second night to enjoy this house. Right near a ton of walking trails. Close enough to good ma and pa restaurants, shopping, Mystic.
I would recommend this place to anyone.
Thanks for everything Martha!
The Tree House is a delight.
I was in need of some R & R and the Tree House provided it. During a hot & humid week, I didn't need to turn on the A/C until late afternoon so cool was the shade from the surrounding trees. And I turned it off at bedtime and slept soundly. Martha was very helpful, even tipping me off to a great walking trail in answer to a last minute request. The keyless entry was a big plus for such a small amenity. But the bedroom loft that allowed me to feel I was waking up in the trees was by far my favorite.
Very quiet and comfortable home. Huge bedroom upstairs with balcony. The door to the deck needs fixing.
Keep expectations appropriate
Thought the house was nice but linens on bed we're definitely worn. Outdoor deck could use sprucing up. Boards on deck and not very clean. Spiral staircase as previously mentioned very narrow. Treehouse experience nice but this house has nothing to do with a lake view. Owners nice and responsive. Just need to upgrade some of the linens
We have rented the TreeHouse for 6 years and always strive to provide a unique and pleasurable guest experience. There are several types of sheet sets available in the closet. As detailed in the photos and written references in our listing: access to the second floor is by spiral staircase; the TreeHouse faces East toward the lake; during the spring and late fall months, view of the lake is beautiful from inside the house and from the large deck. In summer, the leaf canopy fills in, the lake only peeks thru, but the 'up-in-the-TreeHouse' feeling is 'WOW'!
Perfect get-away weekend!
The home was very comfortable and just as described. It was very well equipped. I knew that there would be some food items and provisions that could be used, but I was surprised to see just how well stocked it was! I planned on making a birthday dinner and brought a number of things from my own home (even a potato masher!), but I could have gotten away without most of what I brought. It was like staying in a home away from home with all the comforts and necessities I'd find in my own home. Although Martha provided us with so many great suggestions for hiking and sight seeing, my boyfriend & I were content enjoying the lake, the great breakfast place and even went to Foxwoods both nights!
We wished we could have stayed longer and look forward to booking again to enjoy the lake in the heat of the summer.
Beautiful scenery and decks at this location.
My favorite part of this property was the comfortable bed. It was great after traveling many miles to attend a wedding nearby. We did not have time to use the lake but it surely looks nice. Very close to attractions and very quiet private setting.
Roomy for 2 people and well equipped but beware if you are not able to handle narrow spiral staircase in the middle of the night since bathroom is downstairs. The road is a little tricky so I wouldn't come in for the 1st time late at night.
All in all a great value. I would go back.
Gorgeous, relaxing lake with boat ramp. Billings Lake is part of Pachaug State Forest. Swimming is allowed with use of floatation (paddle board, inflatable tube, raft, etc.). Area offers lots of recreational activities and beautiful scenery. Very nice, easy hiking trails through State Park land within a few hundred yards of the house. Located about 10 minutes drive to Foxwoods Casino. Mystic Village attractions , CT and Rhode island beaches approx. 10-15 miles. Summer and Fall festivals abound in neighboring communities. Please note: Because of FIRE hazard, we do NOT allow barbeque grills, or fires of any kind on the property. Holiday weekends may require longer stay times.
