About Martha Humphrey
I am a creative type and have loved calling Portland my home for almost 16 years. I have 2 kids, in middle and high school, and we keep busy enjoying all that Portland has to offer, from open air concerts, art festivals and street fairs, to simple walks around the beautiful tree-lined neighborhood with our little dog, Benjamin. We love to kick about, take hikes, go bike riding, and play tennis. I have a small business in the creative industry. We are very in to having travelers stay in our new lovely private guest house, whether from nearby towns, across the country, or from another continent. We look forward to helping your stay be a relaxing and wonderful adventure and are happy to help out with recommendations for restaurants, entertainment, gardens, museums, and day trips.
Martha Humphrey purchased this Guest House in 2016
Why Martha Humphrey chose Irvington
Historic Irvington is close in to all the excitement and beauty of the city of Portland, yet our guesthouse is nestled on a quiet tree-lined street. So close to restaurants, bars and shops, the MAX light rail, and the street car, and close enough to the convention center to walk there. The guest house was newly build in 2016. It is clean and modern while matching the historic 100 year old character of the main home and neighborhood. Everything is so accessible you don't need a rental car to get around!
What makes this Guest House unique
The Professional kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need to cook meals and relax in the home. The large bathroom has a spa-like feel and a shower that comfortably fits two. And the fun ship's ladder to the bedroom makes the bedroom feel like a secret retreat!

Very unique and attractive cottage. The location is excellent, allowing you to walk to a number of great restaurants, shops, and a grocery store. There is plenty of close parking and all the neighborhood residents were very friendly. I highly recommend this location.
Clean and separate space, funky layout, great location!
Our host was really communicative prior to our arrival so we could be specific with our planning... and then when we met her in person and she gave us great advice about local eateries.
Lovely, little home with all the amenities in a traditional neighborhood.
Martha provided a wonderful, quaint space. I enjoyed my stay and it was like being at home... I had everything I needed. My favorite experience was getting in my car in the morning and the neighbor across the street greeting me with a smile and hello.
It was lovely having you stay in the Guest House! I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that the neighbors were welcoming too!
Great stay in Irvington
The apartment was exactly as the pictures showed. Martha was so friendly and accommodating! She gave us great tips on restaurants. There were also visitor/tourist magazines in the apartment, so we could plan our eating adventures. It was like living in a hotel but with a full kitchen! We were close to the Alberta Arts District, but it was easy to get to other areas of the city. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to stay in a very nice neighborhood for an authentic Portland experience.
Very clean and accommodating. Great location
The owner was very nice and helpful. She provided us with all kinds of helpful info on the area including transportation hints and places to visit and eat. We all felt very comfortable and welcome.
Was wonderful having you all, Heath! Come back anytime. :)
Peaceful and newer cottage for Portland area
The Irvington Cottage is a wonderfully charming and peaceful home close to downtown Portland.
We walked in many directions for coffee,
pie, groceries, and solitude.
Marilyn is a very gracious owner and will provide guests with any recommendations!
