Tom is retired. We down-sized to smaller home. The lake house is a great place to get the whole family together. Lots of room for everyone to have their own space.

We were looking for waterfront home, preferably in gated community. Only 60 miles from D.C. A lake is free from salt water and wave damage. The family can enjoy the use of kayaks and pedal boats in a calm environment. Home has large dock to moor boats, etc. Very desirable for us.
The huge screened porch offers a great space for dining outside or just enjoy watching the waterfront activities. The house is very comfortable; a great place to put your feet up and relax.

This house was a great big house for our big family. The view was lovely! The children loved playing on the lake. They fished, kayaked, and played on the peddle boats. The location was central to lots of great historical sights and shopping. We had a great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property... It felt like home. The size of the house was more than enough and the view was amazing! There was a total of 16 of us. The owners were always a joy to speak with and responded back really quickly. I would recommend some small upgrades but nothing major everything worked in the house fine... the upgrades would definitely give the house 5 stars. I look forward to coming back in the near future!!! If you are in the area this is the place to live!
This house was perfect for our needs. It is clean and lots of space. Would rent again!!!
Rented this property for an extended, multi-generational family vacation. There were 14 of us ranging in age from 3 to 70. The house had ample bedrooms and baths and could have slept even more. There are about 8 steps into the home and the bathroom layouts made it difficult for my husband who uses a walker and wheelchair. Pam, the rental agent, was easy to work with. The screened porch on the main floor was a hit as was the lake. The house is dated--like living in 1980. This was fine for us with small children. There are 3 refrigerators in the house which is also great, We had to eat at dining and kitchen tables as neither table was large enough to accommodate all of us. Plenty of dishes and glasses, but cookware, especially frying pans, has seen better days. There is limited bake ware so I'd recommend bringing disposal baking pans and cookie sheets. The odd thing about this house is that the rental is Saturday through Friday, and the sheets are folded and on the foot of the beds so you have to make the beds upon arrival. We appreciated the ample number of beach towels available for use.
My family which consisted of 9 of us take family vacations every other year. We have stayed in Italy, Costa Rica, DR and others. We found the Lake of the House as nice as any of them. The home, felt like home. We didn't have to pussyfoot about worried about breaking something we just had fun. The water was wonderful, the evening thunderstorm added to our fun. The rooms were clean, plenty of bathrooms and well, it was like we were visiting the Robertson's. You will love the area around the lake, golf, swimming and just the remarkable Civil War history, all within a mile. Fredericksburg was fun, we had carriage rides, ghost tours and it was an easy drive to Washington DC and area. It was wonderful for our family and I am sure yours will enjoy it also. Pam at the rental business who was our point of contact was quick and thoughtful. We want to thank you for a great vacation and... the bottle of wine. Rex, Linda, Melyssa, Lexy, Gabby, Martin, Annika, Blake and Joc..
We want to extend our appreciation for opening your beautiful home to our family and friends this past November. The accomodations were so much more than what we expected and the views from the house were just breathtaking. Most of us are golfers and we were pleased to discover so many quality courses in close proximity to the house. We are all looking forward to a return visit in 2012!
The Lake of the Woods is a private gated community located on Route 3, about 15 miles west of route I-95 at Fredericksburg, Va. There is a large shopping area at the 95 intersection, including restaurants, theaters, Costco, and many large and small stores. The area is famous for it's role in the Civil War and there are lots of historic sites. If you want to visit our nation's capitol, it is within the bounds of a day trip, as is the King's Dominion Theme Park and Luray Caverns and local wineries.
