Great Memories!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second trip to this property with our first being 4 years ago. We stayed about a week each trip and loved every minute of it. We travel fairly extensively and have never found a home better furnished with supplies and cooking utensils. Her view out the front windows of her house is breathtaking! She has a day bed in that room with wrap around windows at the front portion of the house that allows you to view Kachemak Bay 24 hours a day. Since the sun never really goes down in June, I spent several nights using the bed and admiring the view. Both back bedrooms have heavy curtains and shut out the light allowing you to sleep in almost total darkness. She has fans in each room to get some circulation if you need it, however it never got to warm. The home is exceptionally quiet with occasional airplane flying over or a car driving by. Jeanette is an excellent hostess and was quick to answer any questions we had. Homer, Alaska is one of my favorite spots of all time and as I drove away I felt a sense of loss. I have recommended this property to several of my friends and hope to make an annual return visit as long as I can. Thanks Jeanette for your hospitality and allowing us to stay with you in your beautiful home!

Great stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this clean home. The rented section is actually the lower floor of the owner's home. She respected our privacy and if she was upstairs we wouldn't have known it. It is just outside of Homer with a great view of the Grewingk Glacier across the bay. There is a nice yard and nicely stocked kitchen. Little touches like freshly picked daisies in a vase. Bedrooms were nice and dark. We had two couples and a single friend joined us. The bed in the living room was adequate for our friend, but it was not quite as dark for sleeping. The owner was very helpful and the check in/check out was very smooth. I would recommend this home to anyone staying in Homer...much more comfy and roomy than a hotel.

Rave reviews from our guests

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I looked forward to visiting Glacier Vista for many months and invited friends to stay with us as well. As it turned out a heart attack prevented us from traveling from Iowa to Alaska but Jeanette was so sympathetic to us and made our guests feel completely welcome. They returned raving about the views, the accomodations and her helpfulness in making suggestions for places to go in the area. Knowing they had a good time at the property we had chosen made our disappointment at not being able to go bearable. Thank you Jeanette!

Wonderful stay at Glacier Vista

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Glacier Vista from June 7-12. This is the second year in a row we have stayed at Glacier Vista and hope to come again. That alone should tell you how much we love this place. Jeanette is a very gracious hostess and the accommodations are very comfortable and the view is fabulous! We have done some of the tours (bear viewing, fishing, etc.) but we spend a lot of our time at the chalet relaxing and soaking in the tranquility and the views. I would recommend this home away from home to everyone. It is just my husband and I but there is plenty enough space for more. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a couch and daybed in the living room. You will not regret spending your time in Homer at Glacier Vista!

Amazing place with great views!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this place! We stayed at 5 different places on the Kenai peninsula and this was the nicest by far. We were traveling with one other couple and were so glad to each have our own bathroom attached to the bedrooms. The blackout shades in the bedroom were the best I've ever experienced and the bed was very comfortable. We had some questions about locking the place up and Jeanette was available and came over to help us, which was very nice. Would definitely recommend this place!

We stayed at Glacier Vista the first weekend in August, and we could not have asked for better accommodations. The view was spectacular, and the house was equipped with everything anyone could possibly want for cooking. Perhaps it was a little further from Homer than we thought it would be, but the drive to town was a short one. We enjoyed the Saturday morning farmer's market after a breakfast stop at the Two Sisters' Bakery, and then we went to the beach while the tide was out. The weather was more than perfect; and if we are ever in Homer again, this is where we would want to stay.
