My unique little home is situated on Molloy Island on the Blackwood River and offers a quiet get away from the hussle and bussle of our busy lives. Surrounded by the majestic Blackwood and Scott rivers with wildlife abound, swimming, fishing and boating is at your hand. TWO THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR STAY........Travel to and from the Island by ferry, exclusively for land/home owners and their quests. The ferry is operated by the Island Manager on the hour between 8am-5pm and by home owners on the half hour (as their needs arise). Home owners operate the ferry on the hour and half hour between 5am-8am and 5pm-10.30pm as their needs arise. As well as needed by home owners between 10.30pm-5am. Cost is $2 per car and $10 with trailer/boat per crossing. Guests will have to rely on home owners comings and goings outside of 8am and 5pm.........as well as....ALL ROOMS in my home open outside to a covered courtyard. This can be a concern for some guests.

Things to do on the island
The island has bush walking tracks... these are marked by yellow triangles on the road, a tennis court, basketball hoop, swimming and playground area for the kiddies and boat ramps for easy boating. We have a mob of kangaroos living amongst us as quietly as we do them. Many native birds go about their business safe from cats on our Island. With no street lights and only quiet traffic moving around our island is the perfect place to slow down and relax. I have two single kyaks and three bikes for use, at your own risk. Life jackets provided.
My home offers
My little home is as it's name suggests...........Unique.....
ALL THREE BEDROOMS, LIVING AREA, BATHROOM AND LAUNDRY OPEN TO COVERED, PAVED OUTSIDE CENTRAL COURTYARD
My home offers three bedrooms (two with their own verandah's), two queen, one double, a cot and fold out bed for children. Also two paved chess/checker boards and O's and X's for the kiddies or an interesting pass time with a view drinks. The kitchen has an old wood stove (cook on top only), as well as the usual cooking equipment....two burner electric stove top, microwave, electric wok, bench top glass oven, toaster, sandwich maker and slow cooker. Plenty of seating in the open living area as well as outside. A new addition is my wood fire to heat the kitchen/lounge area. Some fire wood provided and some bagged wood if needed (extra cost)
Bed linen and towels provided.
Part of our island life is that we don't have fences, however my courtyard is fenced to keep wildlife out and young children in......please close the gates.
On Molloy we are actively water wise as our water supply comes from the clouds, so I ask everyone to use the water sparingly. It is a very precious item in the warmer months..
Sorry 'no pets'
As a welcoming gift you will find a bottle of one of my favourite wines to enjoy during your stay.

The magic of beautiful Molloy Island somewhat made up for what was lacking in the house. All rooms of the house lead off a central courtyard which was made clear to us in the Stayz description however, only one bedroom had a heater and the other two bedrooms were freezing cold. One of the bedrooms had no storage space for clothes and the other two had such old wooden chest of drawers, they could not open. Living out of a suitcase for 5 days is not great.
There was an old wood stove which we were informed about but it had absolutely no operating instructions which made it impossible to use. There was a dry fryer but again with no instructions. Unless you want fried or reheated microwave food, cooking is extremely difficult.
Apart from that everything was fine and the owner did her best to help us feel welcome.
Awesome place to stay for a getaway, was very relaxing
Good and bad
We enjoyed the island and all the activities it offered - kayaking, fishing, and we even saw kangaroos and dolphins! The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The kayaks were great, but the bikes were rusted and unuseable. The bathroom/toilet took a bit of getting used to, and I would suggest a bigger capacity booster for the water heater, as we ran out of hot water 2 days in a row, and left a day early as a result.
lovely spot relaxing and serene
Had a great relaxing break, the house was perfect for us will definitely be going back in the future
Thank you for your review Lee-Anne. Very pleasing to hear my home and our Island gave you a relaxing getaway. I look forward to hearing from you.
We had a great family holiday here. It has a very peaceful and quiet feel. I would definitely recommend bringing a boat, it was great being able to go to to Augusta to go to the shops in the boat. The canoes were good for mucking about in. Had no problem with getting back onto the island at 7pm. My 8yr old didn't feel comfortable with the bedrooms being seperate from the living area but it was explained well in the blurb about the house. The house was well equipped, beds comfortable and clean. Thanks Wendy we had a great holiday.
Hi Tracy Thank you for your comments, it is a delight to hear you enjoyed your stay and what it has to offer. Hopefully my fold out bed came in handy for you 8yo and helped with being comfortable. Kind regards Wendy
Unique and charming
Lovely house with lots of homey touches. Loved all the pot plants in the coutyard area. Beds were very comfortable. There was only one heater between the 3 bedrooms which was fine for just the two of us but might be an issue for more people in the cooler months. Had a lovely stay!
Thank you for your comments, an extra oil heater or two would be a good idea for next winter. My latest addition of the wood fire in the living area I am sure added to your comfort. Thank you again for all your comments. Wendy
