About Sara Gingerich

My husband Matt and I have owned the cabin since April 2006. We have spent many long lazy days here during all seasons. Whether its warm summer days cooling off on the deck, or brisk fall breezes staying warm by the fire pit, or knee deep in a winter wonderland... the cabin has brought us many fond memories, and we hope it will bring you and yours good times as well.

Sara Gingerich purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Sara Gingerich chose Ashford

My husband and I love Mt Rainier. It is such a calm peaceful place with tons to do. We wanted to have a cabin close to this wonderful national park. The cabin makes you feel like your part of the great outdoors adventure!

What makes this cabin unique

The quiet, private intimate moments that can be shared here at our Mt Rainier Couples cabin is truly unique. Nothing as comforting as being around so much beauty and nature.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Exactly as advertised

  • 4 of 5

This cozy cabin was exactly as expected. If in your mind "cozy" means "cramped", this isn't the place for you, but for us it was perfect. The kitchen had the basics for cooking, although having only a small cast iron fry pan wasn't ideal. We had to cut the bacon in half to cook even one piece. Don't expect anything not listed; there is a stove but no oven, just as advertised. They had dish soap and hand soap, but bring your own spray for the skillet if you want to fry eggs. The bed was large and comfy even for my 300+ pound body. The table was adequate for eating and for playing games. The carpet was loose and gave me ample opportunity to trip myself, which I did more than once.

Because of a burn ban we couldn't use the fire pit, but not to worry. There was a campground half a mile away within the national forest where the ban didn't apply, and we rented a spot one night so we could roast hot dogs and make smore's.

While there are always a few things one could nitpick about, the cabin met our expectations. It was a great spot for this older couple to celebrate our first anniversary!

Quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

The perfect little cabin for a couple, really close to Mt Rainier National Park. We had everything we needed for 3 days. Ashford, the nearby town, is smaller than we'd expected yet we were able to find groceries (support local!), coffee shops, restaurants, and WIFI, when we needed it. A good spot for those looking to explore Mt Rainier and want a modern accommodation yet rustic enough to unplug (no TV or WIFI).

Only 15 min from Longmire in Rainier! Hot showers, amazing king sized bed, and kitchen necessities. Loved opening windows and listening to birds chirp! Saw chipmunck and deer-like animals (in abundance- drive slow)

It is quite small but cozy. Do recommend more than 2 towels for 2 nights, as hiking requires more showers.

When i first arrived i was honestly a little dissapointed

  • 3 of 5

When I first arrived I was honestly a little disappointed, I thouvgt it was too small but it was just the right size. Perfect romantic getaway. Im not sure if there was some miscommunication the house itself is 15 feet from a road and lootking out the window was a spectacular view of another house, to the left and right only 10 to 15 meters away, more houses. But overall very decent , very cozy inside, loved inside of the cabin, and its only about 10 minutes from nisqually entrance. and i suppose by comparison of other cabins in the area which are both higher priced and even less private than this one it was overall a decent price for a comfortable stay, and the owner was also more than accommodating understanding my inconsistent schedule of active duty military, excellent customer service. Would consider a stay here in the future.

Owner's Response: The cabin is indeed in an excellent area close to the national park. The cabin is fully surrounded by trees and from the cabin windows out no other buildings in view. The cabin sits on a 1/3 acre. The cabin is located 70 feet from the road, (NOT 15) which is a private side road. The cabin is in the vacation community of Paradise Estates which is an on-grid, full water, full power area. The community also has it's own private lake, pond, and walking trail. The cabin has a warm woodland theme getting anyone in the Mountain spirit. If you are looking for a totally secluded off-grid cabin this is not the place. This cabin has all the modern comfort amenities most would want close to Mt Rainier NP.

Allergy reaction

  • 3 of 5

My lady friend had a terrible allergy reaction the whole three days we were at the cabin. You could tell that the

carpet was real old as well as the sofa that no doubt set off her allergy's. Best to avoid if you have allergy's.

Owner's Response: First time I have ever had any issues with an owner with an allergy complaint. My husband and I were just at the cabin this last weekend and the cabin was fresh, clean, and the carpet has been steam cleaned this season and in in good condition. Renters please keep in mind that our Mt Rainier Couples Cabin is in a rural location very close to the national park, and allergies from being in the great outdoors are possible. My cleaning staff is amazing and keeps our cabin in top top shape, but obviously the elements of nature could affect your allergies depending on how much outdoor time you spend and how deep into the woods you go. So explore with care.
