I am a scientific philosopher ('The Scientific Worldview) originally from Wisconsin, Oregon, and Colorado. I retired from the California Geological Survey, where I worked on geological hazards involving landslides and earthquakes. I consult occasionally as a pedochronopaleoseismologist wherein I use soils to determine the recency of active faulting.

Mountain View : Beautiful view of the open space along Alder Creek, Prosser Hill, and Mt. Rose, unobstructed by utility wires. Quiet. Location has very little traffic.
Wood decor, sky lights, and large windows make the Great Room bright and cheery--you won't want to leave!
The Tahoe Donner campground is within a half block. It can provide extra space for large reunions in the summer. Guests receive a discount at Tahoe Donner's club pools, sauna, spa, and weight and exercise rooms.
Thank you so much for letting the RAG team enjoy the cabin for the weekend. We had such a blast on the slopes and hanging out at the house... It's Monday morning. 13" new snow. 3 of 22 people remain. Time to "attack and get rad!" This house rocks! Thanks you so much.
I took high school students for an educational retreat. The house was great, with a million dollar view. The house has everything we needed from extra beds to kitchen utensils. The contact person was always very prompt to responding to my messages. There is a hiking trail right behind the house, which was perfect for us. It's around 25-30 minute driving to downtown Lake Tahoe-sand harbor beach, but we didn't mind the driving bc the house is located in a nice quiet place, especially after dragging 24 students. Lol I highly recommend this house! Students really liked the sauna and the grilling in the balcony. There were plenty of blankets too! Each window in the house has a nice view to look at.
This is a fantastic mountain home near Truckee. We had 3 generations there with children ranging in age from 7 - 1, and we all loved it! Wonderful location, terrific facilities, and well stocked with all kinds of provisions, including books, games, outdoor equipment, etc - recommend it highly!
This property is in a very nice neighborhood in Truckee, with friendly people in the neighboring houses. The cabin photos are very accurate, and the views from all rooms (especially the living room/deck) are breathtaking. The house was about a 10-minute drive from the middle of the town, and there was a Safeway (note: stay away - too crowded - go to the SaveMart grocery store), Starbucks, and a CVS in the town. This location was also fairly close (driving distance) from several hiking trails and from Donner Lake, where we all spent some time. This was a very comfortable house for all 17 of us (including nine children/teens) and didn't feel "crowded". Almost all amenities that you can think of were available in the house (washer, dryer, kitchen appliances, etc.) which was nice. The only drawback was the cleaning policy - we paid $700 in damage and cleaning fees (to be partly refunded after checkout). The instruction page for cleaning, etc. was fairly extensive and part of it required us to wash eight rooms of towels and linens before we left the property. We were refunded $155 for cleaning (minus the fees for cleaning - we were meticulous about leaving the house in better condition than when we found it [including the children]) and $400 due to no damages. I think I would have rather just paid the $300 cleaning fee upfront with the understanding that it would be applied 100% to the cleaning and not have to do loads and loads of laundry that last day. Further, I don't think that the owner is getting his money's worth with the cleaner(s) that he is using now as there were a couple of rooms we had to clean up when we got there. The owner did offer to "take care" of this when we arrived, but after an 8-hour drive, it was just easier to clean it ourselves.
This cabin exceeded our expectations - it was perfect for our needs (large group Tahoe trip) & well equipped (games, kitchen items, bedrooms/beds)!! The views off the back deck were great, especially with the snow! After a long day on the slopes, the group enjoyed lots of time in the hot tub. We also enjoyed the large dining room table for "family" style meals. Overall, a great house that made for a great trip!
Very well equipped cabin. Everything we needed in the kitchen cabinets. Good view off of the back deck. Nice hot tub, the jets are great. Seats 4 comfortably. Also, a nice network of trails nearby for hiking/running. Our extended family had a very nice vacation here!
We spent our holiday with our family from down South in this lovely place for 3 nights 4 days. It is HUGE. We enjoyed the spacious kitchen, living & dining room....and not to mention the rooms. The outdoor deck has a beautiful view as well. Kids had a great time exploring outdoors. And although there isn't much for them to do outside they kept entertained. With only 30 min from Reno we couldn't have picked a better place for our stay.
In addition to being close to about a dozen ski resorts, we can hike the trails right outside our door, visit the stream and beaver ponds, and see most of the northern night sky from the spa. Being well-insulated, the house is not drafty even during the most severe winter storms. The driveway is reasonably flat for easy winter access. Guests have access to all of Tahoe Donner's amenities, sometimes at a discount. The best places to learn downhill or cross country skiing in all of Tahoe is just up the street. Swimming and exercise/weight lifting equipment, golf course, driving range, sled hill, and deli is just 1.5 mi away.
