2 bedroom, single bath with kitchen and laundry, easy trip to the center of town
About Claire Roise
I'm a Pacific Northwest girl by birth, but my husband Peter and I have lived in Moscow since 2001, and this property was our personal home from 2001 until 2012. We currently live just a couple of miles away. Peter does photography and videography with a local marketing agency, and I distribute therapeutic grade essential oils, and keep tabs on our six kids!
Claire Roise purchased this Apartment in 2002
Why Claire Roise chose Moscow
Moscow has been our home for the last thirteen years. We came for school, and never found the will to leave. We love the vibrant, tightly knit community, the constant surge and flow of events and arts and culture that are found only in a college town, the sense that we know half the people we see on the street, but are also always meeting somebody new. This particular property holds a special place in our hearts because we lived there ourselves up until four years ago, when our family began to need a larger space. We still love to drive down the quiet street, which manages to be a two minute drive from the heart of town, and still feel just a little like you're out in the country.
What makes this Apartment unique
The original home was built in the 1930s near to the center of town. Sometime in the 70s it was picked up and moved to its current location, and set on top of a new apartment (where you will be staying) that now forms the daylight basement of the house. We love the quiet street, the close proximity to the heart of town, the way the basement apartment stays refreshingly cool and quiet during the summer but cozy and warm in the winter, and the unusual blue stucco exterior. We know you'll love your stay!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We really enjoyed our stay! There was plenty of room for us to have a home-cooked meal and spread out after long days at a swim meet!
Clean, cute and convenient
Super convenient location. The place was very clean, and warm. Well appointed and more spacious than I anticipated. Perfect weekend for visiting WSU. Hope to stay here again when I visit my future Cougs.
Thank you for the lovely review, Danille! We look forward to having you stay again sometime.
Nice Place Great Host
The place was spotless clean and the host was wonderful. The apartment is small but more than serviceable. We would certainly stay there again and recommend it to others.
Needs a little care
Upon arriving, we found two foot weeds in front of the window. The place was clean, but had a musty odor. The area rug and couch could use cleaning as there were stains on both. The one light fixture had two of the three bulbs missing. The windows could use blinds as a barrier from not only the sun, but anyone on the outside looking in. Please replace you exterior light. The use of a light bulb did not provide sufficient light for such an area. The bulb wasn't on long before it burned out. Someone made a small attempt at weed eating the two foot weeds out front, but neglected to clean any of the mess up. The cut down weeds littered the small walkway to the front door.
This could be a decent stay if the kitchen and bath were updated.
Dear Todd -- I am super sorry about the lightbulbs! That was my personal fault. I knew they were missing and completely forgot to replace them before your arrival. I appreciate the rest of your input as well, and will be following up on your suggestion that we put some blinds in under the front window curtains. I'm sorry the apartment was disappointing to you. We normally have very positive feedback, and we want our guests to be more than satisfied with their stay. I hope you'll give us another chance to earn a good review from you.
Great little place to stay for 2 Mom's and 2 Coug siblings! Clean and comfortable.
This could be a very comfortable place to stay with a little more hospitality. We arrived on a very cold snowy day...the apartment is a daylight basement (with residents above). The entrance to the apartment is down an inclined driveway. When we arrived it was dark and there wasn't a porch light on. It was a little creepy. I used the light on my phone to get to the front door. Mind you everything was covered in snow and it was slippery and icy. The front door entrance had two shovels laying across the walkway with a huge puddle of water blocking the door. I had to hang on tight to my 78 yo mother to get her in safely. When we got inside the heat was turned off and it was freezing. It took a couple days to warm up. The heater in one of the rooms doesn't work. It smelled like old moldy basement. Old food left in the pantry such as potatoes (w/eyes) and opened bread (who knows how long it had been in there). The bathtub was black and had quit a few used big bottles of shampoo and conditioner with left over soap scum on them. I felt as if someone actually lived there and ran out the door quickly. In the information booklet we found in the apartment was a note that said that they have had some bad reviews and had asked for us to not leave any bad reviews because they have teenagers who are learning to take care of things and make some money. This may sound insensitive but I'm not willing to put anyone else out because they aren't running their business with pride. The apartment was dirty and cold and had the bare essentials. Could be comfortable with some TLC.
Angela, I'm sorry you had such a negative experience at our place. I went by personally today to make sure it was up to par for the incoming renters this afternoon, and it is still just as warm and clean and cozy as is typical. The poor condition of the external entry, and food in the fridge and cupboard were huge fails on our part, and I'm so sorry about that. I will speak to the cleaning crew about those things, and about the heaters being off.
With respect to the partially used bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the tub (which is not black!! ?? ) that is how we do it. We provide large Costco bottles of shampoo/conditioner that will be used by various guests until they are empty. We make fresh bar soaps available for each guest.
Again, I'm sorry you had an unpleasant stay. Most of our guests have been very pleased with the space. If you would ever like to give us another try, I'll be glad to gift you $50 off your next stay.
