Four adult bicycles and one double kayak are provided for our guests to enjoy.
My husband and I are lifetime Florida residents and we love the water. We love fishing, snorkeling, and boating. Homosassa Springs offers all of this and more.
Sandra purchased this house in 2009
We decided on Homosassa Springs because it offers so much beauty and adventure in a natural setting of a Florida lifestyle.
We stayed at this beautiful home on a canal for the month of December, wish we could have stayed another month! The location in a small rural community was perfect for us, very quiet and peaceful. Very relaxing to sit at the deck on the canal of this home. The home is beautifully furnished, with a great kitchen with center island. We felt very much at home and comfortable. You are close to town, go to the Riverside Resort in Homosassas, rent a kayak and paddle up the river where it dead ends at the springs where manatees come for warmth. Don't forget eating at The Freezer, get the shrimp, and buy local seafood at the Fish Market. We can't thank the owners enough for sharing their home with us! We were actually sad when we left, this was such a wonderful experience.
My husband and I spent 3 months this winter in this spacious and adorable home. Our accommodations were clean and cosy, all the comforts of home, needed nothing. We enjoyed the fishing and area wildlife as well as exploring the area restaurants and shops. Jim and Sandra are such nice folks, easy to work with and very helpful. We will be returning.
We spent the month of Nov. 2014 in this lovely home and had a wonderful time. The house is equipped with everything you could ever need--comfortable and homey. We enjoyed fishing and kayaking as well as experiencing the many things to do in the area. We also took a couple of day trips to nearby towns. The location is interesting--full of history and nature to be enjoyed by all.
Thank you to the Bishops for allowing us to get away from the upstate NY winter, at least for one month.
We had the most wonderful time and didn't want to leave. Jim and Sandra thank you for your great hospitality. We felt at home as soon as we pulled in the drive. The neighborhood was quiet and beautiful. Couldn't get enough of setting out on the dock watching the birds and the fish jumping out of the water. The Bishops had the property stocked with everything you could ask for, and the most comfortable bed ever. Again, thank you Jim and Sandra and we are planning next year already.
Thankyou Sandra and James for making your wonderful home available to us for 3 months....in the 15 years we have been wintering in Florida your home rates as #1.......it is so well equipped and furnished we did not want for a single thing....my wife and I found the Homosassa area to be so unique and peaceful...we thoroughly enjoyed.
My wife and I have long wanted to visit the Crystal River / Homosassa area and try scalloping. Been thinking about it since we moved to Florida many years ago. Finally got around to it this year and made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go.
Since we have had good success in the past using VRBO that's where we started looking for a place to stay. We thought we would take our boat over so a consideration was a place on the water where we could dock it and have access to the Gulf. We quickly found this property and decided it was exactly what we wanted. We sent an email inquiry and heard back in no time at all. The owner's were exceptionally helpful in making the arrangements and providing extensive information about the area as well as recommendations about restaurants, scalloping guides, etc.
After talking with a local guide and booking our initial scalloping excursion, he strongly recommended that we not bring our boat on this first visit. Since we were only staying a few days we decided to take his advice and left the boat at home. No regrets -- we had a 'no stress' scalloping adventure. Next time we will probably take the boat now that we some experience (we boated extensively in other areas of Florida).
The property is great! Well furnished and well maintained. We took advantage of the kayak for a morning of paddling on the canals around the property. Also had dinner at The Freezer a couple nights and highly recommend it.
We look forward to a longer return visit in the future, probably along with our extended family. We both found that we really like this laid back, 'old' Florida area.
Located on deep water canal that leads to Homosassa River and the Gulf.
