'Le Mas de la Tamarissiere' is located at the crossroads of Provence, towns of art and history (Nimes, Arles, Beaucaire, Aigues-Mortes), old towns (Pont du Gard, Uzes) very close to the villages of Les Alpilles of Saint-Remy, Les Baux-de-Provence...and for nature lovers, the natural park of Camargue. A few metres away, the beaches of Le Grau-du-Roi and Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and, nearby, the small river port of the Canal from the Rhone to Sete.

From the farmhouse, many hikes along the canal in a unique setting between unspoilt nature and vines. For your outings, many festivals (lyrical music in Avignon, Aix-en-Provence), jazz (Bagnols-sur-Ceze), parties, regional folklore, photography exhibitions, horse riding nearby.

Compact, bright apartment with large sunny terrace

We stayed for a week in Saladelo apartment which occupies the top floor of a block containing three apartments in the grounds of a large ranch style property where the owner lives in a separate building. When we were there the ground floor apartments were empty but I doubt that having people in them would impact on the upper apartment. The grounds and gardens are attractive and there is a decent swimming pool for use by rental guests.

The overall position of the property is a little strange, being on a slip road just off the main Arles to Nimes road. The road is mainly used as access to a truck stop style restaurant. Next door to the property is a small industrial unit which does produce a little noise. Basically wherever you want to go you need to drive. You can walk to the canal, but there is not much there.

The apartment itself is bright and airy and the large sunny, private terrace is a big plus. The kitchen/living and dining area is open plan and well furnished. The kitchen is well equipped except for only having a table top oven/grill. The bedroom is big enough with an en suite shower room. The toilet is separate.

I would normally give a property of this quality a five star rating, but am downgrading it based on a feeling of meanness from the owner. For a one bedroom apartment in the middle of nowhere the rental rates are high and this is compounded by an extra 50 euros added for cleaning (we arrived at 4.00pm and were told to come back in an hour as the place had not been cleaned. 50 euros an hour is good pay for a cleaner!), then you find that bed linen is a further extra 50 euros, which is probably all it would cost to buy new. Add to this the fact that there were none of the usual nice touches. The kitchen roll holder was empty. There was no salt or rinse-aid for the dishwasher, even though both warning lights were on. There were no spare bin bags and there was only a part used toilet roll. All this might sound a little petty, but it makes a difference to the overall experience.

The aspect I disliked the most was having to handover 400 euros in cash as a damage deposit. We were interrogated at 7.30am on our day of departure about anything we had broken. I dread to think what we would have been charged if we'd admitted to any loss or damage.

A little bit of thought could really improve the experience. He even forgot to bring the wine he promised us!

Perfect location to explore Camargue, Arles and Nimes

We stayed in the Saladelo apartment which has a very spacious terrace. The apartment was exactly as described. It was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to cook. It has a lot of dishes - so the dishwasher makes sense and you don’t have to clean the dishes after every small meal.

This property allowed us to explore the entire region from Arles to Nimes and Avignon, from the Camargue to Pont du Gard but you need definitely a car. Bellgarde is perfectly positioned to take advantage of all this places but every evening it’s nice to come home to our terrace and relax with a glass of wine!

Boris and his wife were very helpful. They were quick to answer all emails and queries we had during our stay. After the holidays we had a small problem with the refundable deposit but Boris was always answering in a very fast way and he could solve this inconvenience. Thanks a lot Boris!

We loved our stay in this property and we can recommend this place!
