Salamanquesa - Holiday Home with Private Pool

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from our stay at Salamanquesa in Riogordo. We were sent an excellent information pack prior to travelling which contained a lot of detail we found helpful, including how to find the property. It is on a one way system and so this was appreciated. On arrival we were greeted with a super welcome pack of bread, cheese, meats, tea/coffee and wine - all of which was lovely the minute you step through the door.

The house is excellent and includes all home features we needed and felt very big inside with four bedrooms in total. The kitchen is very well equipped too with plenty of fridge/freezer space, washing machine and oven/hob etc. Outdoors the pool is a complete winner and was put to very good use in the soring temperatures we had, with sunbeds and plenty of seating and bbq too.

Riogordo town has all you need in terms of shops and restaurants. We ate and drank in only half of them but they were all very friendly and provided great service and lovely food. Try to go out later in the evening if you can to get the full Spanish experience. Not much is happening at 5.30pm English dinner time! Families walk out together with children and grandparents, all sharing a meal from 10pm onwards. It was great to see. My young son was struggling to keep his eyes open at the beginning but was happy when we managed to order him a burger and chips. During our stay was their summer fair. Every village in Andalucia were celebrating with the streets decorated brightly and an evening procession of floats carried through the streets with bands playing and fireworks going off. The music and celebrations continue throughout the night, but it was a great experience and a spectacular event to see with colourful outfits etc.

The area is amazing and sited within some stunning scenery. Driving around through the moutains is quite breathtaking but you will need your wits about you on some of the more minor roads. Our hire car had air con and we were grateful for that. It was a Citreon C5 and I'd say it was as wide as you would want to park outside the property. We had to fold in the mirrors and get as close to the wall as possible to allow the dustbin lorry to get by.

Our whole experience of booking this property, communication with the owners, payment etc has been very smooth. We have fully enjoyed our holiday in Spain and would highly recommend this to any family wishing to see some 'real' Spain.

Great authentic spanish villa

  • 5 of 5

Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised by how big the villa was, the addition of the pool and upstairs balcony made it that more enjoyable.

The beds were super comfi and the general feel of the villa was authentic, rustic and comfortable.

We loved spending the evening upstairs on the balcony enjoying the lovely view of the valley whilst sampling the beautiful local wines.

Riogordo it's self was very pretty with some nice bars serving up some very special food. My mom came with us and she lives in Cyprus, she commented on the calamari stating it was the nicest she had ever had. The bars served ice cold beer and the local house wines were excellent value, a lot cheaper than Cyprus.

I was also amazed on how friendly people were, everyone spoke and said hello, the only down side was that no one spoke English but this made us pull our finger out and we learned enough to get by.

Overall a very relaxing stay in a very beautiful part of unspoilt Spain.

Great villa with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We were really impressed with the size of the Villa and the overall rustic, comfortable feel. It was very clean and the owners left us a welcome pack including two lovely local wines and hams.

The beds were super comfi and the pool was great.

We loved spending many a night on the balcony enjoying the lovely local wines and beer. The view from the balcony was stunning and it was such a lovely quiet spot to sunbath and bird watch.

The villa had everything we needed to enjoy a well earned rest and with the addition of WIFI it kept us up with things back home.

The people in riogordo were all very friendly and the bars served first rate food and wine.

The views in this locality were stunning and it all felt like a very real spanish holiday.

We would definitely return as it ticked all the boxes for us.

The best holiday ever!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time! It was our first family vacation in Spain in many years and it was wonderful. The house was absolutely beautiful and located in this whitewashed pretty village, which was so clean and nice and friendly. It was so warm and inviting. It was decorated beautifully and it was stocked with everything we needed. The private pool was great and with small kids, it was nice that we didn’t have to pack all our stuff and run to a public pool and we could just stay in our little beautiful house with all what we needed. It was close (walking distance) to small tapas restaurants and grocery shops and the surroundings was beautiful. We had a blast and will definitely be returning and no one should ever miss this little paradise.

Owner's Response: We are really pleased you had such a nice time. We find the village and villagers wonderfully friendly and welcoming (that was why we bought the house in Riogordo) and being tucked away from the main tourist areas, it has remained very Spanish. We look forward to welcoming you back for another amazing holiday!
