High Country Get Away
Everything was exactly as advertised except the view was better. This is a perfect place for a casual getaway. We highly recommend it.
Home with an unbeatable view
We had a nice, long weekend stay. The check in process was very easy. The home was in good shape. One question we had that other people may find helpful, is that there is a gas grill on the deck (so you can do some grocery shopping ahead of time on the way in). The road up to this house is long and winding; something some may find helpful. Once we arrived, it was easy to see why so many love this place-the view. It really is an amazing view. There are many other round houses in this little neighborhood. The kitchen was small, but very nice. The 2 bedrooms are both a good size, and the 2 baths were fine.
There is an air conditioning unit in 1 one of the bedrooms-the other does not have air conditioning. It got a little warm during the day with the house closed up while we were gone, but the breeze quickly cooled the house down in the evening when we opened up the house.
The check out process is very simple. This is a nice little home and you can't beat the view or the price.
We had a great time, and loved this place! It was perfect for us, and was convenient to ASU for our niece's graduation, and to some hiking trails so we could have fun after the school stuff was over. The furniture was comfortable, there was plenty of room for all of us, and that big dining table was just right for our group of seven. It was nice to have the dishwasher and a full size fridge, along with that high powered microwave (it reheats faster than the one we have at home).
The view was unbeatable! I am a photographer, and enjoyed taking pictures of the sunrise, night sky, and the scenery.... such a beautiful part of the country! I wish I could add some photos of the view to this review, because the ones on the site do not do it justice.
I would recommend this roundhouse retreat to anyone, and we may return some time for some autumn leaf-peeping.
So high up you're in God's country!
We loved our stay! The owner left clear and helpful instructions for check-in/check-out. Everything you could possibly want was provided. The breath-taking view couldn't have been any nicer! And it was really fun watching people on the zip-line course in the valley below us. Great place to stay for a couple or a family.
Great stay in the Roundhouse
Stayed for 3 nights with 2 preteens, 2 teens, 1 adult and 1 large dog - and the house was perfect! The teens had their own space downstairs when they wanted it, which worked really well for us. The kitchen had everything I needed for us to eat at the house. Used the grill on the deck, and the firepit for smores. The view is beautiful by both day and night, and if you wake in time you can watch the sunrise - the den faces due East. The beds are very comfortable.
The owner was very responsive when I had questions, and was very gracious when I made a mistake on check out - for which I'm truly grateful! Thank you Mark!!
I would definitely consider staying here again when going back to the area.
Centrally located between Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, the home offers quick and easy access to all the attractions and activities of the High Country. You can make the three-hundred yard walk to Hawksnest snowtubing and zipline or the short drive to Ski Beech, Appalachian Ski Mountain, and Sugar Mountain. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only a few miles away. Enjoy golfing, hiking, rafting, fishing, biking, or rock climbing in the summer, skiing, tubing, sledding, and ice skating in the winter, or fine dining, wineries, art galleries, and the theater year round. For the kids there is Tweetsie Railroad, gem mining and other activities, including two trout-stocked ponds in Seven Devils. The house sits on a quiet dead-end street, so there is never any traffic or much noise.
