At 4500 feet, this comfortable and relaxing roundhouse offers wonderful long range, panoramic views all year round. Watch the sun rise over the mountains below or a rainbow encompass the mist in the valley. Enjoy the cool, refreshing summers, incredible fall colors, and all the winter sports.
Take advantage of the numerous nearby attractions and activities--Hawksnest snowtubing and zipline are within walking distance, and Grandfather Mnt and all ski resorts are minutes away. Or simply kick back at the house. Read a book or have a cup of coffee on either of the two decks. Unwind and tell stories by the fire pit. Play pool, ping-pong, or air hockey on the mini game table downstairs. Enjoy two HDTVs and WiFi. Prepare a meal in the fully-equipped kitchen with granite. The vaulted ceilings with wood beams provide the perfect setting for taking in the spectacular views from virtually anywhere in the home.
All this for a very affordable rate.
2nd time staying and enjoy the clean, functional home. The east facing view has the mutli layer view with many birds including wild turkey. Also like how it is centrally located to the parkway, Linville Gorge, ski resorts and Boone NC, plus the owners are nice and accommodating. I recommend it!
Wife and I went up for New Years with some friends for her birthday/baby moon. The house was great with everything you needed and awesome views. Not far from Boone and many of the ski resorts. Cannot wait to rent again soon and take our soon to be son with us! Thanks for the awesome rate and easy information on the house.
Great stay everything was as described clean Lil house with wonderful view walking distance to hawksnest snowtubing my family enjoyed it!!
My 2 teenage daughters said this was the best trip ever. We went ziplining & snowtubing at Hawksnest which was practically walking distance. We also went to Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain & Beech Mountain all just a short drive. The cabin was comfortable & cozy. And the view from the porch was amazing. Thank you for sharing your home with us! I highly recommend the Roundhouse for a truly memorable experience.
View incredible, central location for skiing, we brought 2 huskies who spent about 90% of the time on the deck. Would go back anytime!!!!!
From near the top of the mountain, the views are amazing. Full floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the living area and more than half of the bedroom area afforded excellent views. We had everything we needed for a beautiful stay. While staying warm indoors, we got to watch the Hawksnest making snow downslope of us at the snowtubing facility. I wish the comfortable chairs downstairs were available upstairs, as we were primarily there to relax and enjoy the views; and we're used to reclining chairs at home. The couch was not particularly comfortable (but we prefer recliners; so take that with a grain of salt). Kitchenware available was adequate to fix some good meals, and an extra rolling island was helpful to supplement the limited counter space. It's hard to tell the difference between the master bedroom, and the second upstairs bedroom. But the master definitely has the more comfortable bed of the two (we made the mistake of sleeping in the second bedroom on day 1, since neighbors that were there didn't seem to have as direct of a view of that bedroom when blinds were open).
We had a cold spell the last day there, but the heater kept the upstairs cozy (downstairs was frigid, but we weren't planning to use it). I would recommend caution using the gravel driveway even with four wheel drive. Our four wheel drive didn't work properly, and we had trouble getting out of the driveway. Parking parallel to the house is highly recommended.
Higher Grounds Coffee near Banner Elk was a good coffee shop with good service. Much better than the Higher Grounds we visited in Boone on our way home.
Home was exactly as described to us. Breath taking view set atop a beautiful mountain. Very clean and neat. Owner was quick to respond with each contact made and very accomodating. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves the mountains at very reasonable prices.
Centrally located between Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, the home offers quick and easy access to all the attractions and activities of the High Country. You can make the three-hundred yard walk to Hawksnest Snow tubing and Zipline or the short drive to Ski Beech, Appalachian Ski Mountain, and Sugar Mountain. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only a few miles away. Enjoy golfing, hiking, rafting, fishing, biking, or rock climbing in the summer, skiing, tubing, sledding, and ice skating in the winter, or fine dining, wineries, art galleries, and the theater year round. For the kids there is Tweetsie Railroad, gem mining and other activities, including two trout-stocked ponds in Seven Devils. The house sits on a quiet dead-end street, so there is never any traffic or much noise.
