Located on the eastern side of Manhattan, Queens rentals are a great alternative to more expensive accommodations in Manhattan. The Big Apple’s time square is 20 minutes subway ride away, while Queens itself offers up a memorable and unique getaway all by itself. Queens is all too often overshadowed by Manhattan, but it has surprising attractions, like the Museum for African Art, the Resorts World Casino, Flushing Meadows Park, the Queens Botanical Garden, the Queens Museum of Art, the Queens Zoo, New York Mets(Citifield) and the Home of annual US Open Tennis!
Location is ideal if you are looking for a cheaper place outside the expensive city that is quickly accessible to the subway; E, F and M trains take you everywhere. Neighborhood is mostly Colombian and Asian, so food reflects this. Grocery stores/fruit stands/delis are steps away from the apartment. We were only looking for a "crash pad" for evenings after full days in the city, so this was enough for us. Clean with good wifi. Jason greeted us at the train station and walked us to the apartment and was very helpful.
So many things we loved about staying here. The owner, Jason, was incredible and so nice! He communicated with ease, responded quickly to any message sent whether through email or text - he didn't charge for little odds and ends as a lot of people do on vrbo.com, the apartment was supplied with all of our needs, it was 1 block from the subway station which runs 24/7 - he found a parking space for us when we got there and parked his truck in it then called me so we could move our van out of the 1 hour parking space when we were unloading our luggage. We left our van parked in that spot all week and took the subway everyday into the city. He even drove me around to show me the subway and to explain a couple of things about the neighborhood. If you're looking for a small, decent priced place to stay outside of the city, stay here! If we ever get back to NY, I would be contacting Jason again to see if he has anything available.
The appartment was perfect (subway, grocery stores and restaurants all a two-minute walk) and Jason, the owner, is awesome!
He even gave us a lift to the airport! Thank you so much, Jason.
We will definitely choose this property if we ever return to New York.
I used to live in New York and have stayed in this part of Queens before. This is where I would choose to live if I ever returned to New York City. It's a safe, vibrant neighborhood - very close to Manhattan via subway. The rental unit is nothing short of amazing. It is a clean, well furnished, well maintained apartment one short block from an express subway entrance. We (wife, 10 yr old, 12 yr old, and me) stayed a full week and paid considerably less than we would have paid for a cheap hotel room. We ate breakfast in the apartment every morning (walked two long blocks to 37th Avenue for fresh bagels at Foodtown - 3 / $1.00) then took the subway into the city (we bought a weekly pass for each of us). Coming back to the apartment at night was like coming home.
Jason, the property manager, was the best I've encountered in 15 years of booking vacation rentals. To give one example - Jason knew we would be driving to New York, and we texted him as we got near. Jason got to the apartment early, then met us on the street as we turned into 76th Street. He helped us with our luggage after paying for the parking meter in front of the apartment. Then he drove with me to his truck where he had found a parking space for us (if you've ever kept a car in New York you will know what this means). Jason treats you like you are the most important guest he has ever had.
I can't praise this unit highly enough. I have already recommended it to a colleague at work. We definitely plan to stay here on our next trip to New York.
This was our second time staying on one of Jason's properties. This time, we took the Q33 bus from LGA, and were surprised how easy it was to get to the property only two short blocks from the bus stop. Jason met us there early, allowed us to stay on an adjacent vacant property to rest, and stored our luggage until we got back from the city. He even brought a case of water for our stay.
The property is just as pictured, clean and well stocked. The beds are comfortable, the A/C works great, the internet was especially useful and fast, and the TV was better than the one we have at home. There are plenty of local places to eat, but also a McDonald's on the corner if you wanted something more familiar. You could also bring food in if you wanted and cook it in the well stocked kitchen.
It is close (within 2 blocks) to the subway that leads to all parts of New York. We especially liked the E train as there were fewer stops and got us to Manhattan in 15 or 20 minutes. We were able to go to Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge area, Wall Street, the 9/11 memorial and Central Park. We also went to a Yankee game. A Metro card is good for the subway and the buses, so we used the bus when we wanted to see some of the local areas above ground such as the Upper East side.
There were plenty of pamphlets and maps in the apartment so we could decide where to go and how to get there. Jason was also very helpful with directions and recommendations.
We didn't hesitate to look Jason up after our last stay, and would recommend a stay on one of his properties any time you are coming for a visit to New York. He makes it very convenient and comfortable, a home away from home!
