Overview

About the property

The townhouse is perfectly positioned on Lighthouse hill to capture magnificent views and breezes and sleeps 4 comfortably with a maximum of 6. The units soft furnishings have recently been upgraded to create a fun beachy feel. The middle level has a master bedroom with queen bed and a second bedroom has two king singles. The top floor with stunning views has a double sofa bed that can sleep an extra 2 people, (Please note the double sofa bed is really only suitable for 2 children or one adult). There is also a short daybed that captures the expansive southerly view of main beach. The ground floor kitchen and dining opens out to an entertaining deck and there is a claw foot bath in the bathroom to soak away the salt at the end of the day. Lighthouse Hill is very close to the beach, shops and cafe, so you can throw the car keys out the window, though mind you watch where they land for when you leave.

The kitchen has a microwave, electric oven and a gas cook top. The lounge has a TV and DVD player. There is a BBQ on the deck and a washing machine in the bathroom.

The unit is connected over all three levels with a narrow spiral staircase and is not really suitable for small children or elderly people with mobility issues. Linen is an additional $20 per person per stay and must be ordered at the time of booking by sending me a message requesting linen, I will then amend the amount for your confirmation.

Stradbroke Vehicle Ferries depart nearly every hour from Cleveland and take about 50 minutes to get to the island.

The unit is within close walking distance of some great cafes and restaurants including The Look Restaurant, Fishes Cafe and the Blue Room A little further afield is The Stradbroke Island Hotel. Round the corner is also the Surf Club which is open for drinks on the weekend, it has spectacular views and sometimes features local musicians. A great fresh seafood shop and organic deli with delicious fruit and vegies, cheeses and breads is also within a few hundred meters of the unit, plus there is a little foodworks, baker and chemist a bit further away.

There's lots to do on the island including beach yoga at Home beach, spot whales along the North Gorge walk, play golf, dive with Sharks Mantas and Turtles at Flat Rock, explore the freshwater lakes Brown Lake (Bummeira) and Blue Lake (Karboora). Visit the historic village of Dunwich with it's museum and second oldest cemetery in Queensland and the quaint seaside town of Amity with it's fresh seafood and calm swimming enclosure for children.

Or you can just curl up with a book on the top floor of number 1 Lighthouse Hill and watch the surf.

Nice views and location

  • 3 of 5

After reading many 5 star reviews I was a little surprised when we arrived - we would call it 'comfortable' rather than 5 stars. The spiral staircase takes some getting used to and with the living room and kitchen bring 2 floors apart, it's an unusual place. The views are great and it's a very sunny place (nice in cooler months). The shared out door area is a compromise. Location is very handy, once you work out the shortcuts (no info in house). Overall, great value for money.

Five star ocean views

  • 4 of 5

Well located at Point Lookout close to shops and the Gorge walk. Steep approach on Lighthouse Hill offset by the magnificent view of the beach and the ocean from the top level. Spiral staircase connection between the three levels would be a likely problem for family with small children or less mobile people. Clean, well furnished and equipped. Bathroom not on the same level as the two bedrooms.

We really enjoyed to stay at Lighthouse Hill Point Lookout! Great house, beautiful view and good location! Just one thing: the bbq was without gas. But for sure we will come back!

Fantastic location, lovely appartment.

  • 5 of 5

The unit is very clean, well decorated and has stunning views. In the mornings after opening the curtains we could see whales swim by from our beds- an amazing view to wake up to! We didn't use the car at all during our 3 night stay, since the place is so conveniently located.

Excellent property

  • 4 of 5

4 adults enjoyed our 2 night stay in this property. As we had a car it was easy to get around. The only downside is being so high up the hill, the breeze picked up in afternoon and evening, banging bedroom blinds so we had to close windows and put a fan on, to sleep.
