We have vacationed in the Asheville area over the years and we love everything the area has to offer, to include white water rafting, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, great casual dining and shopping.
Our property is a great place to hike the acres and surrounding nature preserve, watch the beautiful sunsets from the back porch and relax away from it all, yet still close enough to town.
What you see on the PP site is what you get: a restful spot on a hillside overlooking beautiful mountains. Our visit was in the fall and the outdoor deck was still in play - it made for a great place to set up our telescope and stargaze. Everything was in place for a great stay - amenities, comforts, etc. It's definitely setup well for a family or even two small families. Beautiful countryside! If you want to get away and spend time together, it's a great place to do it!
We were two couples who stayed at Paradise Peaks. We really enjoyed our stay even though it was a little further out from Asheville, NC than we expected. But the setting was beautiful, overlooking a beautiful valley and mountain ridge, with deer and wild turkey routinely present.
We won the toss and got the first floor master suite. The house was very comfortable with two recliners and a couch that also reclined. The satellite TV gave us access to all that we needed including the NFL and SEC networks. We especially enjoyed the hand made TV stand in the living room. It became a topic of discussion several times. The deck was very nice and stretched the length of the house. Our two small pets enjoyed watching the deer from the deck and late at night out the front door when we went out for our last potty break of the day and on one occasion, were just 20 feet away from one younger deer staring at us.
Once we had our route in and out down pat via the dollar store, we were able to come and go with ease. We even drove right to the house the first time without too much difficulty and followed the final path right to the house. If you encounter any problems at all or have any questions, be sure to contact the owners immediately (Katie). She was very responsive and caring about our stay. The house was clean and the property well-maintained.
During our stay we traveled to the City of Ashville, Black Mountain, and the Biltmore Hotel. Each of these excursions were well worth it, including the winery at the Biltmore and super dog freindly town of Black Mountain, the shops there, and the Veranda Cafe which is also dog friendly.
If you're looking for an out-of-the-way place that's nonetheless close to Asheville and all the activities the area offers, this is the perfect location. Some great hikes and rafting are 20 to 30 minutes away. Add to that the incredible view, a comfortable and well-appointed home and, not least, a super-responsive and friendly owner, you can't go wrong staying here. We hope to get back again soon and would definitely recommend this vacation home to any of our friends planning a mountain excursion.
We just spent our 50th anniversary here and we HATED to leave!! Although it rained the entire time, it was the best vacation we ever had. The bad thing was,we only had one full day. (Even our yellow lab would not get into the car when it came time to go home!!) All my family wanted to stay , can't wait to go back!! The trip up to the house was not bad at all. The directions that was given to us to navigate around were right on the money!! Just can't wait to go back!! We saw turkey and deer! My husbands ancestors came from Marshall,NC. We went to visit the town and the lady at the Bowmans Hardware was the highlight!! It you ever get to visit, please go to see her and get a very good funny history lesson about the building itself!! Wonderful trip! Love the house and setting! Paradise is the perfect name!!

The house was clean, beautiful view of the mountains off the back deck, quiet and not hard to find or drive to. It is close to a grocery and other amenities. Very nice for the whole family you have your privacy and be together as you choose. We seen a deer, many different birds and heard coyotes one night during our short stay.
We used the house for our son's wedding (at a local Vineyard) and hosted a group of people. We had many activities during our week stay taking us in and out of Asheville, but despite the 25-35 min drive, and the winding roads climbing up to the rental, we felt the remote location was exactly what we wanted and it proved to be just that. The drive into town is lovely and without difficulty. The climbing roads are not difficult, and for those not used to it provide a local experience to be enjoyed. The view from the deck is definitely the highlight to this rental and was our "entertainment" rather than tv/dvd's (provided). It was a blessing to sip our coffee in the morning and our wine in the evening while watching the hawks and other birds, or enjoying the sunrises and sunsets and clouds (Smokey Mountains) rolling in and out. It was pure nourishment for one's soul! The fall foliage must be breathtaking and we talked about returning during that season sometime just to enjoy it with that view.
The house itself was clean and well stocked in most ways. The spacious master bathroom was wonderful on the main floor and the upstairs rooms, 2 of which have window air conditioning units, provided adequate comfort for our guests. There is room in the upstairs hallways if hosting a larger family or groups for air mattresses, which were provided, but not used. We loved that the house had both a den and family room, as well as a great washer/dryer in the basement to use. We did not use the pool table in the garage, but it was a nice area to be enjoyed for those interested.
Thank you "Paradise Peaks" for a lovely stay.
