About Anthony and Sue Brenchley
We (Sue and Anthony) live in Coogee in Sydney, and originally bought the farm as our weekender in 2003. In 2006, when we had our second child, we moved down to the farm intending to live there for a year or so, but loved it so much we ended up staying for 5 years. We loved the freedom the kids had living at the farm, and all the space for them to safely roam. We're back in Sydney now and our boys are teenagers, but we still get down to the farm as often as we can . We're happy to be able to make our country home available for other families to enjoy.
Anthony and Sue Brenchley purchased this Farmhouse in 2003
Why Anthony and Sue Brenchley chose Carrington Falls
Anthony, a city boy born and bred, had always wanted a place in the Highlands and regularly looked at properties for sale. When he first saw this one advertised as a private sale he called the owners for a chat, and as great as the property sounded we couldn't afford to buy it at the time. Anthony kept the ad, and almost 2 years later called the owner again. They still had the farm, having withdrawn it from sale, but were once again thinking of selling it. They were an old couple and only wanted to sell it to people who were going to love it like they had. So after 3 visits, and endless cups of tea with them, they agreed to sell it to us. Over 15 years we've renovated the house and done loads of work on the farm with fencing and other improvements, and stayed true to our promise to look after it. Sadly the old man passed some years ago, but we're still in touch with the original lady owner who's now close to 90 and still going strong. We've made some wonderful friends in the Highlands, and it's still our home away from home,
What makes this Farmhouse unique
When we bought the house it was in need of a renovation, but we loved it's solid concrete structure, large spacious rooms, and huge windows looking over the farm. The verandah all round was also a bonus as it keeps the house cool in summer, gives you somewhere lovely to sit, and was great when the kids were little as they could play outside even if it was raining. The locals thought we were crazy when we turned a good cattle paddock in to our huge front lawn, but we love the space it's given us. The location is great with the Kangaroo river flowing through the property before it goes over nearby Carrington Falls (90m drop) on it's way to Kangaroo Valley. The Buderoo National park is an easy 5 min walk and has loads of trails to enjoy. It's a lovely quiet location on a country lane but still close to towns, shops and services if you need them.

Lovely and relaxing
Had a wonderful time. Beautiful scenery and beautiful farm! Would love to have stayed for longer.
Quiet, comfortable, cosy considering it was very cold outside, all the kids slept well, loved the animals, big open areas to run around, good DVD collection, great place to spend time with family and friends
Loved our stay
Great property, so much to do. The kids loved feeding the animals - and especially the little horses. House was spacious, well equipped and nice and warm with the fire place going. Short walk to some spectacular views & Carrington falls. Highly recommended for families.
Nice spot. Comfy house. Amazing scenery
Well located and quiet farm with a nice feel.
Cosy farmhouse, great for family gatherings
Dear Anthony & Sue,
Our family of 8 adults, 2 kids and a baby enjoyed the stay at Brenchley Farm. The rooms were comfortable, toilets, kitchen amd tile flooring were clean. Thank you for the generous serving of the breakie items on the first day. The movie selection was great, but we didn’t have much time to watch any, except for one. On our last night, we spotted a wombat just outside the house which was such a bonus! Our two boys loved Jimmy the horse and the other horse which we didn’t get its name from Nathan. Please thank Nathan for us, who took the time to drive out and showed the boys how to feel the sheep.
Some other comments:
- We can’t find any chopping board. Not sure if there is any in the house.
- Lid of milk frother is quite dirty and we spotted some molding. Didn’t use it at all.
- Non-stick frying pan has many scratches. Might not be good to use anymore.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and all of us being from Singapore don’t get such a farm experience with such peace, quietness and fresh air.
Kids had a ball feeding the animals and exploring the property
