Welcome to Casa De Dos Perros, our paradise in Baja! The owners built this 3400SF home in 2006 to spend time in the winter, so no expense or personal comfort was spared. Our home has never been rented before, but it is a shame not to share this fabulous spot when we can't be there! We call our home a Mexican Contemporary due to its soaring 22' ceilings and the wall of glass doors that open to the fantastically beautiful Sea of Cortez. From the minute you come in the private front gate, prepare yourself for the stunning view once you open the front door. It's an infinite expanse of BLUE: the blue, all tile, infinity edge pool, and beyond, the open Sea of Cortez extending to the horizon... I don't think it gets any better than this!
If you like to cook like we do, this is the place to do it. Our well stocked kitchen has all of the appropriate utensils, knives, pots & pans, and small appliances to prepare anything possible. (If you don't like to cook, just call one of the many caterers for a delicious, reasonably priced Mexican buffet! The abundance of fresh fish from the Sea is amazing..) Just steps from the 8' island (with bar stools)is a propane, stainless steel barbeque. It is plumbed directly into the propane tank (no small bottles to run out during cooking!). Adjacent to this is another, outdoor bar that seats 6, and a large sunken, cushioned beach-wood burning fire pit. Light the propane torch bowl (again plumbed into the propane supply tank) to give your poolside parties a special ambiance! Our unique stainless steel, glass topped dining table seats 6-8 people and has wheels to move it outside for poolside dining, or inside for a fireside meal.
Our home is on city supplied well water, purified with an ultraviolet filter system throughout the house. In addition, the kitchen sink is equipped with a reverse osmosis drinking spout.
In the living room, 12' of comfortable couches surround a 42' flatscreen TV with Dish Network satellite service. Two additional TV's are in the kitchen and master bedroom.
All of our 3 bedrooms have king size beds, so our home is perfect for 2 or 3 couples. All bedrooms are upstairs with beautiful views and air conditioning when needed.
Los Barriles is a beautiful little town with the feel of real Mexico. Cows and goats roam freely amongst the residents and visitors! It is NOT Cabo San Lucas, but a serenely gorgeous area of stunning natural beauty, lovely sunrises and sunsets, superb hiking and biking opportunities and friendly relaxed folks. However, there are many day activities to choose from: snorkeling, kayaking from your beachfront, kite boarding and wind surfing, exploring via ATVs and of course, world class sport fishing.
We are located 4 miles north of the Los Barriles village, with 3 grocery stores, many restaurants and shops. We have several farms offering organic fresh vegetables, eggs and fruits!
We are friendly owners who are proud of our little town and will happily advise you of its many charms...just ask. We also are happy to send more photos.

We live in Minnesota. By chance we rented the proerty and eventualy puchased the property from the original owners. Once we retire, our plan is to spend the entire winter in our new home in Baja. Because of our special home in southern Baja, we now define winter as any temperature below 70 degrees! We are very active and enjoy the exercise opportunities right out our door: biking, hiking, kayaking, kiting, snorkling, and fishing.
Judy purchased this house in 2013
We searched most of the warm weather destinations for several yrs before settling into our little town of Los Barriles. While we met many interesting Americans in these communities, Los Barriles had everything we were looking for: calm, warm waters,a peaceful community of both Americans and Mexicans, close to a large airport and hospital, and most importantly warm weather in the winter! We have made SO many good friends in a few short years. The Mexican people are warm and accepting of our adopting their town as our second home. Here is a special spot where you can be as active and social as you would like, or sit quietly and read a book. Watching the ocean from our patio is especially wonderful~~there is always something jumping, a fish, a dolphin, a whale! The Sea of Cortez is abundant with life.
Since our home is on the last stretch of beachfront north of town, it is a very private and special spot. Heading up the beachroad north (right out our front door) via bike, foot or car, one rarely sees a person, perhaps a fisherman catching dinner..the sea and shoreline here is breathtaking, peaceful and exciting all at once. If you are lucky to come during a full moon, it rises over the water straight out from our house..so beautiful!
The four of us finally found it! ( Nighttime isn't the best time to search for this casa on a lonely, unlit dirt road. ) It was worth the wrong turns and twists and turns to finally arrive at this well-appointed, fully supplied vacation home. We spent our time out by the pool, exploring the area and pursuing adventures, including the treacherous drive to Punta Pescadores. We drove our quads along the beach and also far into the hills to arrive at an oasis, with a cool waterfall. Los Barriles was a quaint little town with several good cantinas where margaritas are still made the old fashioned way--no mix used!!!
La Casa de dos Perros was amazing! The town of Los Barriles welcomes guests with a quick hello until the it passes by and the pavement turns into a one lane dirt road. We kept thinking we were getting lost on the way to the Casa but is really just, excitingly, "off-the-path." Upon entering, our breath was taken by the beauty of this location. We saw some pictures on the net but even those (as impressive as they are) do not do this spot justice. It's incredibly spacious, colorfully decorated, and the Mexican coastal architecture vibes perfectly with the romantic beach sprawled out in front of the property. Everything we needed was there, from kitchen supplies to towels, to outdoor showers and kayaks! We grew fond of a taco stand in Los Barriles, a block away from the supermarket, run by a nice young lady. And we also enjoyed snorkeling at Punta Pescadero. We loved Los Barriles and can't wait to return to Baja Sur. Bien viaje!
From the moment I opened the front door my jaw dropped! WOW! this house is amazing! and the infinity pool looks like it is floating into the Sea of Cortez. As Julie showed us around the house it just got better and better. The view from every room in this house is amazing. This is a smart house, they thought of every detail when they built this. The decor in the house is exactly what we like. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for cooking. The water throughout the whole house is filtered and ok for drinking. There is a great breeze throughout the whole house once you open all the sliders and turn on the ceiling fan, the temperature in the house is very comfortable. The outdoor living space is awesome! We really enjoyed the pool and the fire pit area. We cooked most of our meals outside on the grill. Our whole family was in town for my sisters wedding so we had a family reunion one of the days and everyone enjoyed the pool and used the kayaks and just had the best time!
The master bathroom has an indoor and outdoor shower with a fantastic view of he sea of cortez.
The lighting throughout the house indoor and outdoor is fantastic. There are so many light switches in this house that I would recommend that they label them or make some kind of lighting diagram for guests. It took us a while to figure it out. I loved all the little lights in the stairway inside and the fire pit area. The refrigerator doors seemed like they didn't seal very well, that kind of drove me nuts but we made due. We were a little bummed that we never found the light switch for the pool light and the pool lounge chairs had ripped from the sun so we didn't have any available during our stay. These are minor things that would have been nice to have but not absolutely necessary. I still give Casa de Dos Perros 5 stars. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Bring your camera and wake up early, the sunrise is absolutely beautiful. This rental was a great find and one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen. I am totally spoiled now. We would definitely rent this house again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home :)
We have rented VRBO homes each year for the past 6 years. This was our first time going to Baja California. My wife and kids (14, 16) rented a car at the airport (really inexpensive) and arrived in the afternoon. We met with the property manager who escorted us to the home, which is about 5-7 minutes away from "downtown" Los Barriles. Along the way she pointed out markets, health clinics, ATMs, and restaurants, which was quite helpful.
We are not "all inclusive" types. Rather, we like the freedom and privacy one has in renting a private home. Casa de Dos Perros was a perfect selection for us. The decor of the home is very nice, with a well-appointed kitchen. The views of the sea from all over the house are beautiful. We ate most meals at home; they have a nice BBQ grill and i picked up HUGE scallops, prawns, and steaks at the local market. 2-3 times during our stay, "Max" came by selling empanadas that his wife makes. Of course we bought a dozen each time.
We enjoyed the pool, the beach, the snorkeling... basically everything. If you want a private retreat in a quiet Mexican town, while staying in a really nice home, Casa de Dos Perros could be a good choice for you.
best beech rental we have ever had, Loved the laid back town, met with some of the friendly neighbors, and enjoyed the local resturaunts. We liked it so much we even are looking at buying in the area. The house itself was perfect, great views, easy onto the beach, and even the fire pit was off to the side to take advantage of afternoon sun and stars. Someone did and excelent job designing this home.
I inquired about the house just days before my arrival while on the other side of the peninsula. I spoke to the owner who gave me a fantastic deal and got me in touch with a local property mananger. I was driven to the house, shown around and had any questions answered. The home has everything you will need including unbelievable sunrises and snorkeling in the back yard. The firepits make for a wonderful place to watch the sunsets over the sierras and stare off into the endless aqua views. Los Barilles itself is a hidden gem with everything you could ask for without overwhelming nature of cabo. The pace is just more the speed a vacation should be. The food in town is fantastic and much more moderately priced than Cabo itself. You are also withing a short drive to the airport and San Jose's nightlife, Cabo Pulmo and much more. If I ever make it back to Los Barilles I would absolutely stay at casa dos perros. Thanks again for everything, your home blew my fiances mind!
