My name is Gregg McArthur and I am the President of McArthur Towel and Sports out of Baraboo Wisconsin,
The property on English Lake has been in our family since 1972 and after debate we decided to demolish the old family cabin and build our new custom log home. We enjoy sharing the property with responsible indviduals and families that enjoy a backwoods retreat.
We personally enjoy Snowmobiling , ATV rides, hunting, fishing and regular trips out to the many northwoods establishments in the area. Great people and great fun.
We look forward to hearing from you and don't forget to sign the guest book before you leave.

Hi Gregg, We JUST arrived home to Fl. from your cabin. We left a few days early to tend to some matters at home before returning to work. Thank you so much for everything. It was a wonderful home away from home. All went well and we found ourselves on some enjoyable golf courses (really liked Apostle Highlands in Bayfield) and found some great restaurants. We did not use the upstairs at all. We confined our dogs to the screened porch or if in family room they were contained in their playpen. They loved the yard too. We would like to be up there next year as well so we will keep looking at our schedules together. We cleaned everything up and restored it to the way we entered. Rich Becker was very kind to us. Randy and Rich shared some Viet Nam history as they had been in some common areas. Randy was a helicopter gunship pilot. Rich provided us with home made maple syrup and a meal of crappie fillets. You have everything so easy to make it a turn key experience. Most times we ate out after we finished golfing. We went to a couple of Casinos and certainly did not make any $. Looking forward to keeping in contact for next year. We did not wait for security check as it is fine to just send it in the mail. I am sure Rich got the deck sealed as we told him we were departing a little early. Many, many thanks for sharing you beautiful cabin with us. Warm Regards, Sandy
Everything here was wonderful. We spent the majority of our time outside and on the lake (tent the pontoon for sure) but in the evenings we were able to appreciate the finely built cabin and the trophy fish/deer mounts.
Great location, Rich was very helpful in navigating the rural dirt roads.
I highly recommend English Lake Escape we had an awesome time there. The cabin, view and nearby waterfalls were amazing . We rented a pontoon and caught several fish. The water was clear with a sandy bottom, great for swimming. We will definitely be back. Gregg was so friendly and helpful when we were planning this perfect getaway. Love this place!
We spend New Years here 2016. What a wonderful retreat. We spent 3 days snowmobiling with adults and then switched gears to a family vacation with our 4 and 7 year old. The property was well appointed and the beds were super comfortable.
The location was a bit secluded for snowmobiling, but wonderful for relaxing on the lake (better in the summer) . We spent New Years Event in Mellen, interesting crowd! Spent most of our time in Clam Lake area. We would love to visit in the Summer.
Me and my family spend our thanksgiving weekend at this beautiful cabin ! The cabin had everything we needed ! Cabin is located in the middle of the forest , being outside was so relaxing because it was so quiet! The views of the lake and mountains were breathtaking ! Loved every minute of our vacation and we will be back !!✌🏼️💛 Would recommend this cabin to anyone !!! Thank you Gregg for everything !
We loved our family vacation with our children and grandchildren. The cabin is beautiful! Rich is a wonderful caretaker. We plan to return next year! Actually we have to, we left our tripod and hamburger cooker there :)
Absolutely loved our 10 days in Paradise. Beautiful home with all the conveniences, enjoyed the quiet of English Lake, loved watching and listening to the loon family on the lake, wonderful big deck which we used a lot for sun-bathing and just taking in the beauty of the northwoods. Fishing was fun, beach was nice for our smaller grandchildren and water great to play in. Inside we had great TV and always able to be "connected" for those that had to be. Central A/C for the warm evenings and a nice breeze thru open windows on the cooler ones. Rich (the caretaker) was available and very helpful whenever we needed him to answer questions and provide information. The roads made great ATV trails and we enjoyed driving into Mellen, visiting Copper Falls and some went to Ashland and BayField for day trips. Cabin is easy to find and the trip to and back from Mellen was relaxing. We could not have had a better time and we fully intend to return. Thank you Gregg for making your beautiful property available for rent.
The property is located in the middle of the National forest which makes for a true wilderness setting. Area attractions include the North country trail , Copper Falls State Park, Morgan Falls, Clam lake Elk viewing, Hayward, Hurley, Bayfield, Ashland and the lake Namekagon area.
