About Suzanne

Grace's Retreat was purchased in 2007 and is a family owned property. It is named for our Grandmother. The home was decorated by our sister who is an interior designer.

Suzanne purchased this house in 2007

Why Suzanne chose Alabama

We purchased Grace's Retreat in 2007. The house is named for our grandmother who passed away in 2008. More than anything she loved having her family together. This house brings family and friends together throughout the year.

What makes this house unique

It is only a short drive from I-65 and is located less than 2 minutes from the public boat launch at Smith Lake Park. With the open floor plan, the house is perfect for large gatherings or getaways for couples, friends, and families.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful stay. The house is gorgeous and relaxing and perfect. It was a great mix for me and my husband (I am a city girl and he is a country guy).

Very nice space with a great view of the lake

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is nice and clean and the basic amenities are great. The only issues we had were that the Wifi did not work and the king size bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever been in. It is so old and worn that it had completely collapsed in the two places where most people sleep. Given some TLC it would be easy to make this a five-star location!

Grace's Retreat was really fantastic.

  • 5 of 5

Grace's Retreat was very, very clean. Beautiful spot on lake. Very comforting and easy to relax. Slow Down Time. The house was very well equipped except for no pantry. That was a little difficult but we just put boxes along the walls and shopped when we wanted to eat. Perfect place for adult retreat or to have children playing. Long front porch was beautifully furnished and oh so comfortable.

The owners were very accommadating. Met their son on Monday and he was very nice and let us know he was down the road staying in his house.

Our grandchildren came up to visit and had great time swimming and riding on pontoon boat. 4 year old twins said it was the best! Lots of happy smiles. Thank you so much Suzanne and family. We will be back. Susan Brower

We loved everything at Grace's Retreat, especially the view!

  • 5 of 5

Grace's Retreat is the perfect setting for family gatherings. I'm from Texas, another sister from Oregon, and another from Oklahoma and we loved getting settled at the Lake and having everyone come to us. I will do this again and the local relatives will look into booking Grace's retreat for their reunions. You provided any and every thing we could have wanted.

Jo from Texas

Cindy from Oklahoma

Toni and grand daughter from Oregon

Thank You...

Great view of the lake and all the comforts of home!

  • 4 of 5

Great view of the lake in a very comfortable lake house with every comfort of home. Beds and furniture were comfy and it was very clean. It is the last house on the road which makes it quite private. Two garage doors with screens that open and bring the glorious outdoors inside! There is a great deck with outdoor furniture which makes drinking your morning coffee or eating you dinner very pleasurable!! The walk to the lake though required a steep incline with many steps - that would be our only complaint.

Overall, the house was very nice and we enjoyed our stay, few things that could have used attension.

  • 3 of 5

Overall, the house was very nice and we enjoyed our stay. However, a few things that could have used some attention prior to our arrival. Furthermore, I suspect the following areas have not had attention in some time. The patio could have been swept or blown off and the patio furniture/cushions need spring cleaning! The grill does not have a cover, as a result, dirty both inside and out. Also, the grill should be placed on level ground. There were a couple light bulbs burn out, bathroom was the more noticeable. Finally the K cup side of the coffee maker does not appear to work, always got an error when I tried to use it, never heating the water. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you! Ken
