This is an excellent room, beautiful decor with a comfortable couch, which is a real bonus....lots of thoughtful little extra touches like; mozzie spray, sunscreen, card games, dvds etc, fantastic value for money in a fabulous resort with a wonderful big pool with a swim up bar. The bar and restaurant are great, very casual so you can wear your swimwear to lunch etc, food is lovely. If you dont have a car i can highly recommend excellence shuttle bus, they will pick you up and take you to wherever you would like to go. Overall a great room in a great resort. Only slight thing i could say is the bathroom is a little old and could do with a makeover but it is practical with a nice big bath and everything you need. Thanks for a great time
Aqua at the Ramada was a lovely place to stay for a short relaxing holiday. We stayed for three nights and it was perfect for what we wanted. Its a large hotel sized room with all you need - perfect for a couple. I loved the cleanliness and all the necessary supplies. Bed was very comfortable and everything was clean, The bathroom was (slightly) outdated and could do with a polish-up but comfortable and everything in order. Adored the aspect - looking over the trees and hearing the pool waterfall below. Very reasonably priced. The Ramada was a wonderful place to just relax and unwind. The amazing lagoon style pool, restaurant and bar were just fabulous and a short stroll ( using the nearby stairs or elevator) from the 3rd level apartment. Everything was very handy and relaxed. The hotel have a shuttle to and from town centre (4 kms) for a small fee. I really enjoyed Aqua and would definitely recommend this to any friends or work colleagues travelling to Port
Perfect base to explore Port Douglas
We stayed for 3 nights and it was the perfect base to explore Port Douglas & Mossman Gorge! Very affordable place and a little away from the main part of Port which we liked, pool is really nice at the resort too!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Aqua @Ramada. The room was lovely and so well supplied for anything you needed. Only thing Wrong was it's probably time for a new mattress, but this certainly didn't affect our overall view of the accomodation. We had a lovely time. Thank you!
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay, the apartment was clean and had a nice view out the windows. We enjoyed the use of the pool and short walk to the beach. I'd certainly reccommend!
great little place
Had a great stay here, for 7 nights. The Ramada is pretty nice for the price. We were here in low season. it is definitely not adults only but we knew that going in. room overlooks the internal garden/forest! that is really nicely presented and they appear to have some real wildlife to send you to sleep. Not too close to the pool and restaurant that can be noisy, no issues there. No, fly-screens on the windows. We can't stand air-con while sleeping but turned out that at this time of year there were zero bugs to bother us; this might need attention in summer of you too dislike the air-con. Had all the bits and pieces that you might need for light meal preparation. Plenty of toilet paper - etc. Bed not too bad but the base is two singles pushed together, the mattress on top is king I think which is great. Everything was clean, though I would say that it could do with a freshen up as does the whole hotel, now i'm being picky! For what we paid we have no real complaints. Ramada staff are great and the food is pretty decent for the price. However the bar could do with an upgrade (which I heard is happening soon). Pool/Restaurant/Bar and areas towards the front of hotel has a nice vibe to relax in when not exploring the beautiful Port Douglas. FYI, Transport is frequent by mini bus for trips into town but taxis are hard to find. Parking near the room was hit and miss but we always got a park in the grounds. It is quite a walk to town, that's for sure, but if your keen its doable (40min each way along thee beach if its daylight)
The information provided regarding the place was accurate and very helpful, including advice about restaurants and local attractions. THANK YOU GUYS WE VERY MUCH ENJOYED THE STAY @ AQUA!
MACROSSAN STREET: (Town centre)
You will find a Coles supermarket, Target, bottle shop, chemist and doctor's surgery in the same complex. There is also a great selection of fantastic restaurants and boutique shops to explore in town.
The Marina is about a 5 min walk along Wharf St. situated on the estuary end of Macrossan Street. There are some great restaurants along Wharf St to explore on your way.
Wednesday afternoons they have a market along the Marina wharf from 2pm till 7pm but not sure if it runs all year round.
Port Douglas Sunday market: In the park (Wharf end of Macrossan st) it runs from early morning to mid afternoon, next to St Mary's Church (Wharf St)
The Tin Shed (Combined Club) Wharf Street, the club is right on the inlet just near St Mary's Church. Relaxed atmosphere, fantastic views of the inlet and across to the Daintree, best sunsets and reasonably priced food and drink.
The Surf Club at 4 mile beach, right on foreshore in town, fantastic food in a very relaxed atmosphere. Happy hour 3pm - 5pm
A real favourite by all, very reasonably priced.
The Star of Siam on Macrossan St has great Thai food in a relaxed atmosphere (BYO).
Lure Restaurant at the Marina has great casual food, happy hour 4-6pm, enjoy a cone of fresh prawns whist watching the yachts come in.
QT resort on main road into town they have a delicious gourmet buffet with lots of seafood and extensive food choices $68 per person, but well worth it. Yum!!
QT also has fantastic cocktails in their bar, guests very welcome.
Walking distance from Ramada Resort.
Salsa's also has great food and is a local favourite; You will need to book.
On the Inlet Seafood Restaurant has yummy seafood, located just before the Reef Marina
Harrison's & Nautilus are both beautiful fine dining experiences for that special occasion or just to spoil yourself.
Watergate restaurant is another local favourite, lovely romantic atmosphere and great food.
If you have a car take a short trip and have lunch at Thala beach lodge about 15 min drive on main hwy south of PD. Absolutely stunning views overlooking the Coral sea, drive the car right up to the front door they have valet parking, casual dress, very friendly.
This is a really special place, well worth the short drive (during the Low season there is no need to book, but if going in Peak season (July - Oct) you will need to book *ask to seat near outside rail for best view). Visitors most welcome.
Don't forget to also go out to the scenic Mossman Gorge just a short drive north into Mossman township, the start of the beautiful Daintree rainforest and a great place to swim and cool off or just go for a relaxing nature walk.
There are so many great restaurants in Port we are sure you will find your favourite.
Most of all have fun!!
