Things to do
Enjoy peaceful walks on the farm. Laze under large shady trees on green lawns. Play tennis and swim in the pool in summer. Children enjoy seeing all the farm animals. There are sheep, cattle, horses, miniature Shetland ponies, chickens, alpacas, a cat and a scruffy puppy called Arthur. There is Stella the sheep dog who is always eager for a game of soccer.
Young is a vibrant, bustling town. There are many great restaurants, bakeries, cafe's, wineries and pick-your-own orchards to enjoy. There is an interesting museum full of information about Lambing Flat and the goldrush and the chinese riots that has made Young famous. There are chinese gardens, a distillery and a movie theatre to see. Young also has a heated olympic size pool operating in the summer months, with two smaller pools for the little ones.. The shopping is great and there are beautiful parks and interesting old historic buildings. The cherry season and the Cherry Festival, in December, is always a popular time in Young.
"Springfield" has been in the same family for seven generations. It is still a working farm only 8 short kilometres to the busy town of Young. It is unique in that it has retained so many of its original houses and outbuildings. The Guest Cottages form part of the farming enterprise and work is underway to restore the original shearers' quarters from 1890. Two of the cottages, "Gabby's" and "The Stables" are set around the large old stone homestead dating from 1870. Large established trees are a feature of the property with expanses of thick green lawn and flower beds. "Bill's Cottage" and "The Manager's Cottage" have their own private, fenced gardens, but all the cottages are within walking distance of each other linked by a meandering driveway of pepper trees. The property is full of birds including the rare Superb Parrot, cockatoos, galahs, wrens, topknot pigeons and many more.

Gals weekend away
What a lovely place to stay and get away for a gals weekend. Loved it and will definitely be back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Springfield cottages. Our mini foxie Lily enjoyed watching the chickens & met Arthur the dog. We relaxed in our clean & comfortable cottage for a couple of nights. We would certainly recommend these cottages to people looking for pet friendly accommodation in Young. Hopefully we will visit again next time we are in Young.
