Overview

About the property

Welcome to Sugarloaf Dairy, circa 1906 - an eclectic mix of vintage style with contemporary comforts.

Sugarloaf Dairy is the perfect escape, a character-filled quintessential timber weatherboard farmhouse steeped in history and situated in a peaceful Valley only 5kms from historic Dungog. Whilst staying at the dairy you have access to the surrounding gardens, orchards and paddocks. Enjoy the stunning views from the wrap-around veranda or take a stroll through the beautiful gardens down to the freshwater creek. Perfect for entertaining with Ilve stove and large farmhouse table, or bbq in the shady pergola.

The interior is simple but stylish, whitewashed walls, vintage furniture, stainless steel appliances, organic cotton bedlinen and towels. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 with queen beds, the 3rd with two single beds that can be joined to make a queen.

Please note there is only 1 bathroom.

There is a woodburning combustion heater plus a gas fire for colder evenings, or reverse cycle airconditioning for summer.

A stockyard and paddocks are available for guests who wish to bring their own horses, well behaved dogs are also welcome but please contact us for conditions.

The century old dairy was decommissioned many years ago however still takes pride of position alongside the restored farmhouse.

Eco-friendly and Organic

Our aim is to be as environmentally friendly as possible, without compromising on comfort. We try to avoid using any chemicals or pesticides on the property, so the orchard fruit is deliciously chemical free. Earth friendly cleaning products are used in the house and organic shampoos, conditioners, soap and skin care products are provided for guests.

The kitchen is well stocked with basic ingredients and there are some excellent shopping facilities in Dungog, or we can direct guests to a website where they can order local organic produce and have it delivered for a small charge.

This property isn't suitable for children

  • 1 of 5

This property isn't suitable for children and the owner made us feel very uncomfortable.

Owner's Response: Dear Ms Brun, thank you for your comments, although I'm a bit perplexed as I have neither met you or spoken to you on the phone. I understand that you were upset at the additional cleaning charge, but as I explained before, dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms, on the beds or on the lounge, especially wet, muddy ones. I have taken on board your comment that my farm isn't suitable for children, and I am doing everything possible to remove all hazards. Many thanks.

Perfect weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Sugarloaf Dairy is the perfect getaway for family or friends. Located only a short distance from Dungog the house is perfectly appointed with all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. We visited with teenage girls who loved checking for eggs, feeding the horses or checking out the neighbor's bulls. Thanks to Ash for all of her pointers as to places to eat in town. Didn't disappoint. We will definitely be back.

5 Star Country Homestead

I just wanted to let you know that our weekend in your beautiful home was just what we needed. We have stayed in many places and would definitely put yours up the top. Your home had everything we needed. The kitchen was great with all that you had in it. The mattresses on the beds were superb together with the lovely linen and gorgeous quilts. The herbs left by your neighbour went to great use – just lovely.

Beautiful farmhouse in idyllic rural setting.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our short break at Sugarloaf Dairy. Ash is a wonderful communicator who showed a genuine interest in ensuring that our time away was everything we wanted it to be. Beautiful farm house with everything that you could want for self catering, so many spaces to sit, read explore and relax. Comfy, warm bed. Beautiful gardens, stunning rural scenery. Minutes away from Dungog for supplies. We desperately needed some quiet in our lives and Sugarloaf Dairy delivered. We will be repeat guests for sure!

Beautiful, comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

I would recommend Sugarloaf to anyone. A very comfortable home that has been styled beautifully. We enjoyed all the different areas even having a picnic on the lawn that the kids enjoyed. The kitchen is very well equipped and the fresh produce Ash left was very much appreciated. You won't find better!

Amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the dairy. The house was more than comfortable for three couples and had a cosy country feel. Ashley did a beautiful job preparing the property which was very well stocked and stylish. We plan to return! The scenery was breathtaking and we loved discovering the walks, rides, and dungog town. Would highly recommend a stay!
