Overview

About the property

Freostay is an urban village built amongst huge hundred year old Tuart trees.

The houses are solid, simple and natural. Facilities are all of good quality and the curved adobe walls create peace and privacy with established gardens giving a country feel.

The village accommodates about 16 guests, eight in the Kraal, five in the Kottaj and 4 in the Khaya Studio.

There are daybeds to accomodate extras for some gatherings.

There is a fabulous rustic gathering house, the Shebeen, with full outdoor kitchen and bar.

A caretaker lives in secluded studio on the property .

Freostay is a fifteen minute walk from Fremantle and the beautiful South Beach, two minutes from the golf course and the natural native wonder of Booyeembara Park. Buses run nearby should you need one.

The Kraal

A large, airy house with polished terrazzo floors the Kraal is cool in summer and decor throughout speaks of Africa, the owners homeland. Three bedrooms are separated from living rooms by a TV lounge which has glass doors to close out any noise. Powder room is separate to the marble shower room and a dry mirrored area to shave or make-up means there's no queuing for ablutions. Glass doors open from the Queen Bedroom onto a heavenly stone front verandah for a quiet sit amongst the Tuart trees. A handy built in seat and shelving communication hub is great for plug-in work and/or charging everything. The dining table here can seat eight/ten guests. Oregon pine french doors open out of kitchen/dining area to sheltered built in daybeds, outdoor seating amongst the gardens and a walk through to the Shebeen.

The Kottaj

Secluded away the Kottaj is a two bedroom house with polished terrazzo floors. Dining here can accommodate six and glass bricks allow for natural light play throughout living area. There is a Queenbed in the main bedroom and the second room has a double bed with single bunk above. Glass doors open to a large sheltered courtyard where a double daybed built into the stone walls whispers to be rested upon. Outdoor dining under the mulberry tree is an option and Kottaj dwellers have full use of the Shebeen to entertain friends or enjoy a quiet coffee in the morning sun.Perfect little house for romantic weekend and is fine for five guests as well.

Khaya Studio

One roomed apartment, perfectly self contained with its own private courtyard.

Has a queen bed and two singles.

Has its own shower and separate toilet out in its own private courtyard .

Not always available as can be caretakers abode at times.

We loved our stay at the Kraal and Kottaj. It had everything we needed. Great quiet location but close to everything.

Perfect place. Janey the owner met us and instantly made us feel welcome. The whole setting is perfect. Janey even surprised us with a little treat for the bbq. The outdoor cooking area was brilliant. We loved every minute of our stay and was sad to leave. It takes around ten minutes walk to get into Freo itself but it is an easy walk. Loads to see and do there. You will not be disappointed in staying at Freostay. You gotta check out little creatures bar and definitely jump on a ferry to Rottnest Island even to just see the Quokkas. So thanks Janey and Freostay. Your place really started our first trip to Australia with great memories and the perfect place to unwind. We just can't speak highly enough of it. Keep Smilin'

Fun in Fremantle

We stayed as a large family group and the 2 cottages worked beautifully for that. Very clean on arrival. Customer service was great - when the washing machine went bung with a load still in it, the proprietor took it home to finish it for us. Great stay.

excellent stay excellent location

Fantastic stay - we met our Canadians friends and stayed for an extra long weekend - great outside entertaining area where we enjoyed an evening BBQ, and only a short walk away from centre of town.

We stayed in July and although the outside temperature was cool the house was warm and cosy.

We would all definitely return for a short break at freostay.
